Sept. 13.....hope in God

Psalm 42:5b “Put your hope in God. I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”

Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.”

Heavenly Father, “Put your hope in God”….I must know you, Lord, and see your holy attributes in order to put my hope in you. I must be aware of your past provision to have the hopeful expectancy needed for the present and future. I must have seen your power in action to trust your strength. I must have felt your love and mercy in order to accept your grace at all times. I must have seen the results of your wisdom, to leave my worries in your hands. Each of us has to have a first moment of trust….a leap of faith….where we consciously say, “I believe God will do this.” That first moment of answered prayer will lead to additional moments of trust. As we come to know you, we see more clearly your will and your answers to our prayers. It is easy in our crazy world to ignore the signs of your presence and to think it all happens by some other means. Faith and hope come in the silent times away from the world. If we persevere, we find you. You aren’t hidden from us, but we build so many barriers between us that we have to fight our way through. Your hand is reaching out to us through Jesus Christ and he can lead us through the Door into peace. I praise you always, my Savior and my God! Keep my faith and my hope strong and firmly planted in you, my God. Show me how to explain that faith to those I love and who need you. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within in me.”….that I might hope and trust and obey you. amen.
