Aug. 2....save me!

Psalm 119:170 “May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise.”
Matthew 14:30 “…Lord, save me!”
Heavenly Father,
Supplication is an earnest, desperate plea for help. We come before you with earnest pleas. We are desperate for answers. Those who pray regularly, usually understand this state very well. We come to our Father to save us, to help us, to make everything right whenever we can’t do it ourselves. You are our last hope for help. You should be our first hope for help, and that is what we strive to change in our lives when we become your followers. Our first and best hope, our first line of defense against this world, our loving Father who is a Shield around us and a Fortress and Defender. A Good Shepherd who knows our name and seeks us when we are lost. This is true hope based on promises that you will keep. When we cry, “Lord, save us!”…you are there to reach out your hand and pull us out of the water before we drown. Non-believers can’t understand our willingness to plead and beg. They say, “why doesn’t God give what you need without you having to beg for it, if he knows everything?” I think this is what one person called “the whole ego thing” in reference to God. Your desire for us to seek you, to acknowledge your supremacy, and to admit our need. To an unbeliever it is “ego”, but to me it is freedom! Faith, trust, reliance on One who is bigger than I. You don’t force yourself upon us….we have to come. However, when we do come, your loving arms are open to receive us and we find peace. Your love encompasses all we need….hope, peace, forgiveness, compassion, acceptance, a family membership, eternal life! Wow! Pretty good benefits! We walk out of sin and into eternity. We leave behind trouble and receive blessings. But we must seek, ask, knock….to receive this. Thank you! amen
