Tis The Season To Sparkle | Tarrah McLean

Merry Christmas Cut Shoppe friends!

It's Tarrah McLean back today to share a festive project with you! I wanted to create my own top to wear to work on my last day for the year and the Tis the Season cut file set was perfect for it!

Once I had traced the cut file, I wanted to see what the colours would look like in the software, so I filled the words and stars in to match with the green, red and gold glitter vinyl colours I had chosen. This is a great way to get an insight to how your finished product will look! See below a screenshot of the colours filled in.

You may notice that I moved the bigger star to the right hand side instead of the left where it was in the original design. I also moved the word 'season' so that it sat more in the centre. I released the compound path in the design software so that the words were separated and I could group and cut the same colours on the appropriate sheet of vinyl as you can see below. MAKE SURE YOU MIRROR YOUR DESIGN IN THE SOFTWARE for heat transfer vinyl as you have to load heat transfer vinyl upside down in the machine.

Once everything was cut, I weeded out the unwanted pieces of vinyl so that just the words and shapes that I wanted were left on the backing sheet. I laid them on to my shirt how I wanted the finished product to look being careful not to iron them onto themselves or onto backing sheet.

I then ironed them on using a hot setting on the iron with a thin tea towel in between the shirt and the iron. I checked if it had worked before I had finished by peeling up the corners of the backing sheet once it had cooled down a little bit.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family!

Trick Or Treat | Tarrah McLean

Happy Thanksgiving Cut Shoppe fans!

I hope you all had a fabulous day with your families! It's Tarrah McLean back with you,
I am still in Halloween mode here and couldn't resist creating another spooky page!
I just love the Trick Or Treat cut file!
I started out first by using some distress oxide inks to create a little bit of mixed media on my white cardstock background, I used mostly an orange colour and I also splattered some black mist.
I cut the Trick Or Treat cut file from black cardstock as I knew this would highlight the papers the most.
I used the Bewitched collection by We R Memory Keepers on this page, I love how everything co-ordinates and the papers all look so awesome behind each letter in Trick Or Treat!

I loved that I was able to use the Trick or Treat banner stickers on each of the letters from the cut file, it really adds some extra detail and highlights each letter even more. I added some chipboard pieces I have had in my stash for quite a while too including the bat at the top. The other cut file I used was the spider web from the Wicked Fun cut file set. I cut it out of black cardstock, I love how that looks poking out of the potion bottle.

My youngest son dressed up as a zombie mummy for Halloween this year, this photo is so funny how his hands look giant compared to his body! I just had to add that sticker above the photo that says, 'Mind Your Mummy'!!
Here is another detail photo showing another chipboard piece I have had in my stash for ages - the ghost. It fits perfectly there between the 'E' and the 'A' of 'Treat'. A few finishing touches like some star stickers, the date stamp and a few more splatters of black mist finished off my page.

Something Wicked This Way Comes | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cut Shoppe friends,

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I have a new Halloween layout to share using the Boo To You cut file set

The Boo To You cut file set

When I saw the 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' title, I knew that I wanted to use it as a large title for my page, I broke the title up and cut some of it in black and the 'Wicked' part in gold.

I cut out the spider web in black cardstock from the Wicked Fun cut file set and added it to the bottom right corner of my photo. I like how it balances out the page with the busy left hand side.

I went with a black and gold theme for my layout mainly because of the witches hat I am wearing in the photo. I pulled out all the Halloween embellishments that went with the colours and the theme.

I was really happy with how my page turned out today!

Trick or Treat | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cut Shoppe friends,

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a new spooktacular Halloween themed layout!

I chose the super cool Wacky Web cut file for my layout today. I cut the design from black cardstock and placed it onto a chevron background paper.
I really like the added touches of gold Heidi Shine over the top of the web.

I love how the black cut file looks against the creamy contrast background paper. I contemplated machine stitching through the web but I didn't want to take away from the effect and I didn't want it to look too messy either.

I added a few raw Halloween themed chipboard pieces as well as a few puffy stickers and phrase stickers to embellish. The big 31 is in the glitter Thickers from the Crate Paper After Dark collection from a few years back.

The Trick or Treat title is super old...it comes from an old Little Yellow Bicycle Halloween collection from probably 10 years ago!

Lovely Heart | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cut Shoppe friends,

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a new layout using the super pretty Dainty Doily cut file.

I decided to cut the file out from the pretty colourful paper from the Chasing Dreams collection by Crate Paper. I love how all the colours turned out in the design. I machine stitched it around the very edge of the circle onto the background paper and then folded up the scallops for some definition.

I popped up my photo onto some foam tape and added a pretty paper doily under the right hand side. I then adhered it to the centre of the Dainty Doily design.

I added some nice embellishments around my photo and chose the title Lovely Heart. I picked out the Happy Heart phrase sticker and placed it in the centre of the Heart chipboard word. A few splatters of gold Heidi Shine and my layout was done.

Best Kid | Tarrah McLean

Hi there Cut Shoppe friends!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a new layout using the super cool DIY quilt cut file from the store!

I had lots of the embellishments left from the Crate Paper Cool Kid collection but only a few of the papers from the 6' x 6' paper pad so I decided that this was a perfect way to use up both even though I didn't have any of the 12' x 12' papers left. I cut the DIY Quilt cut file from plain white cardstock and once I had backed all the triangles with the papers, I simply backed the whole thing against some black cardstock.

The 12 x 12 DIY Quilt cut file

I also machine stitched on the diagonal along the top edge of the flat part of each triangle. I love the texture and added decoration it gives the page.

Because of the time and effort it took to back this cut file, I decided to not cover up too much of it and kept the embellishing to a minimum, mainly keeping the embellishments around the photo.

I love this DIY Quilt cut file as it has the potential to be suited to any theme layout whether that be a boy page like I have done, a travel page or even a pretty girls page. The opportunities with this one are endless!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

"Memories" with Kira

Hello again friends!  It's Kira and I am back with another 8.5x11 scrapbook layout.  Here's a look at my page:

I started with this ADORABLE picture of my youngest son.  We were at the zoo and despite having a super fun time, he likes to give me all the sass he can muster for a photo.  I decided to play off the palm trees in the background of this photo and use the Summer Vibes cut file from The Cut Shoppe.

I started by duplicating the palm tree image so I had three on my page, and resized them to various sizes.  I also flipped one so they wouldn't all be leaning the same way.

Then I took some smooth watercolor paper, and lightly traced where my trees would be on the paper once I backed the cut file.  Then I used my watercolors to paint each tree a different color.  Since I planned on using mostly Amy Tangerine's Shine On collection, I kept my colors in the same palette of that.

Once my watercolor was dry, I adhered it to the back of my page.  Then I decided to add some texture to my layout by hand stitching around my palm trees in coordinating embroidery thread.

Then it was just a matter of embellishing the page!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Catch of the Day | Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you today to share a new layout created using the awesome 'Fish Story' cut file!

Fish Story cut file

The Catch of the Day part of this cut file made the perfect title for this layout! I decided to ungroup the whole title in the software first so I could cut one part of it with one colour paper and then I cut the individual letters to go back into the centres in another colour paper. Once I had adhered the letters back in, I took out my black pen and outlined them to make them pop a bit more.

I really needed a pop of red so I decided to cut the fishing rod out of red cardstock, I really like how I was able to place this in the background and then layer everything else over the top! Of course I had to add a die-cut fish to end of the line!

I added a few water and fish embellishments like stickers, die cuts and wood veneer that went along with the theme of the page and lastly added some black mist splatters to finish off!
