sweater weather wall hanging | iris fox

Hello friends, Iris here back with more fall love using my new favorite supply, the Fall Favorites Digital Stamp set! And this time I was inspired by the "sweater weather" sentiment to make this cute, little wall hanging for the upcoming season.

I gathered my supplies: a Jillibean Soup Mix the Media 6"x6" wood and canvas panel, Simple Stories Say Cheese 4 stamp set (because it has a sweater), Sulky Water Soluble Stabilizer, Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Soft Brown, Post-it brand removable tape, an embroidery needle, and a selection of threads.

The Sulky Water Soluble Stabilizer comes in printable sheets that are sticky.  I resized the word to 1.25"x 2.5", printed it on the stabilizer sheet, cut it out in a small rectangle, peeled away the backing sheet, and stuck it to the canvas. After the stitching is done, the stabilizer is washed away!

For the sweaters, I used the sweater stamp 3 times, but after I stamped the hoodie in the middle, I stamped the image on the Post-it tape and fussy cut the center so that I could use it as a mask.  I also cut a piece to mask off the hood.  With the masking pieces on the stamp, I inked it, removed the mask pieces, and then stamped onto the canvas.

After all that prep, it just took some time to stitch it all out.  This proved a timely project for me because I was sick, so I just sat and stitched for two days.

Look at how awesome the word art looks.  I love adapting scrapbooking products onto fabric to create unique pieces!

I hope sharing this project inspires you to use scrapbooking products off the page!  Thanks for stopping by to check out my wall hanging.  Don't forget to check out the latest releases at The Cut Shoppe, including the Fall Favorites Digital Stamp set, and all the fabulous new stamp sets.  I want to use them on all the things, and I'm pretty sure you will too!! :D

Welcome Home

Hey there! It's Devra  here today and I have a fun project to share.  I wanted to make my son came feel special when he arrived hime from his first year in college.   I used a couple of cut files to create a cool banner!

As I've already mentioned, I love using products in different ways. No standard banner shape for me today!  Why not do something unexpected? I used the star from the Boys Rule cut file to create the base. I backed it with white so it could be seen better. The Open Letter Alpha is one of my favorite fonts in the shop. It's so whimsical and perfect choice for me here. I added family and home sentiments from my stash to lightly embellish each piece. See how easy this was? I love how versatile cut files can be.

Thanks for stopping by today. Check out these cut files and more in The Cut Shoppe. We love to see what you make. Join our Facebook group to share and find inspiration.   See you next time!

Tis The Season To Sparkle | Tarrah McLean

Merry Christmas Cut Shoppe friends!

It's Tarrah McLean back today to share a festive project with you! I wanted to create my own top to wear to work on my last day for the year and the Tis the Season cut file set was perfect for it!

Once I had traced the cut file, I wanted to see what the colours would look like in the software, so I filled the words and stars in to match with the green, red and gold glitter vinyl colours I had chosen. This is a great way to get an insight to how your finished product will look! See below a screenshot of the colours filled in.

You may notice that I moved the bigger star to the right hand side instead of the left where it was in the original design. I also moved the word 'season' so that it sat more in the centre. I released the compound path in the design software so that the words were separated and I could group and cut the same colours on the appropriate sheet of vinyl as you can see below. MAKE SURE YOU MIRROR YOUR DESIGN IN THE SOFTWARE for heat transfer vinyl as you have to load heat transfer vinyl upside down in the machine.

Once everything was cut, I weeded out the unwanted pieces of vinyl so that just the words and shapes that I wanted were left on the backing sheet. I laid them on to my shirt how I wanted the finished product to look being careful not to iron them onto themselves or onto backing sheet.

I then ironed them on using a hot setting on the iron with a thin tea towel in between the shirt and the iron. I checked if it had worked before I had finished by peeling up the corners of the backing sheet once it had cooled down a little bit.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family!

September Facebook Challenge with Kira

Have you had a chance to join our Facebook group yet?!  Every month we are hosting a challenge and you have the chance to win some FREE cut files from The Cut Shoppe.  This month I decided that we all needed to get a little creative and use our cut files for some off the page projects.  So I am calling this challenge "Off the page, On the wall"...but don't feel limited by the wall, take your cut files anywhere!

On to my project...we moved into our house in November, and it was an estate sale, so we got first dibs at anything in the house, that we could request in the price of the house.  The first thing I knew I wanted were these two milk cans I found in the garage.  I mean, come on!  These are so on trend right now and I couldn't wait to transform them into a cool piece of home decor.

And then they sat in our garage since November.

So what better time to bring them back out than for this challenge?! I started by washing it down, inside and out.  There wasn't much rust, but there was some chipping paint, so I scrapped and sanded down as much as I could.

Then I used some spray paint primer, specifically designed for metal, and added a few coats to the can.

The primer didn't not cover the can cleanly, so in the area I knew I wanted to use the cut file, I sprayed in an off white color.

I used the Farm Fresh cut file, sizing "Farm" to 11.5" wide.

I cut the cut file out on some vinyl, and centered it on my can.

Then, using some red spray paint, I painted the entire can, including over the cut file.  Once the red was dry, I peeled off the vinyl.

And there you have it, a super cute, custom piece of home decor!  I hope you join our Facebook group and join in on this challenge!
