So Lucky TN Spread with Neftali

Happy Saturday scrappy friends! It’s Neftali here with you today to share some scrappy inspiration. Today I have a super duper quick Travelers Notebook spread using the Beach Bum cutfile set below using gelatos and a fun trick to mix them into your Travelers notebooks!

I only used the sea shell cutfile out of the Beach Bum set for this project.

Before I continue, let me show you the finished spread:

It’s a super simple spread that I decided to create to keep the main focus on this stunning photo of the sunset here in California. I also chose my colors from the photo and kept it to a monochromatic gold.
So for my background I brought out some more Gellatos in a copper, gold, and peach color.

I didn’t use water at all, instead, I used my fingers to rub out the color. It works wonders, too. The warmth of your fingers helps rub out the creamy crayons, and since were working on such thin pages from the TN notebook, this is a perfect technique to add a bit of color on your backgrounds.

I also used the gelatos to color over the cutfile and it just gives it the perfect pop off the page and the colors of the background.

Not only did I use the gold color schemes gellatos but I also added some gold shimmer spray. Then I was ready to add my photo. I just cut that to add to both sides of the spread, instead of folding it, and I finished it off with some gorgeous gold glitter Thickers with the phrase, “So Lucky.” Because seriously, there’s no other feeling you get standing at the foot of this glorious sight.

So, lovelies, this was pretty much all I did to create this TN spread. It came together very quickly, and I am actually currently loving popping into my TN or other projects to create simple projects that include new and fun techniques. I hope I have inspired you all to grab this cut file and give it a go for those summer photos you might have.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Love

Hello scrappy friends! It's Zinia hereand today I want to share with you a fun mixed media techniques using your cut files.

The cut files I used here are Optical Illusion and Oodles of doodles from The Cut Shoppe Etsy store.

The first thing I did, was to make my own stencil using the Optical Illusion cut file. I took a sheet of laminating plastic and cut out the design. You can also use a scrap piece of cardstock and make a single use stencil.

Then, I used that stencil to apply some heavy matte gel medium and start building some texture on my page. Once the gel was dry, I went in with my galatos and added some color. At the bottom corner, I smudged my gelatos on the page and then sprayed them with some water to help them spread and drip. For the top corner, I used a baby wipe to apply the color to give it a softer look.

From the Oodles of doodles set, I used the "love" design to cut and use as my title. I backed the empty areas with some papers from the Cute Girl 6x6 paper pad in colors that matched the gelatos.

The embellishing part is not that fancy. I didn't really want to cover a lot of the mixed media work I did on the background so I kept the embellishments cluster in small areas.

That was it! I really hope you enjoyed this page. It was definitely a really fun technique to play with and I really hope you will give this a try. Until next time, happy scrapping :)

Most Favorite

Hello everyone! It's Zinia here and I'm back to share with you another layout I created using a gorgeous cut file from The Cut Shoppe.

For this layout I used the "Fresh Squeezed" cut file in 8.5x11. If you want to cover most of your page but you don't want to go for a full 12x12 cut file background, it's a really good idea to cut the 8.5x11 version and place it on a diagonal.

So I cut this cut file from white cardstock and I backed it with pattern papers from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection. I tried to follow a rainbow order and spread the patterns as evenly as possible.

Once I was done backing my cut file, I placed it on my background and traced around it. Then I grabbed my gelatos and started picking the colors that matched with my papers. I kept the cut file next to my page so I can easily see which color goes in which circle.

First I added a little dot of color in the middle of each circle and then I went back with my paintbrush and spread the colors outside my pencil lines. This way I created an explosion of color behind each of the circles.

I kept my embellishing very simple. I used some of the Fancy Free buttons in the middle of some circles with matching colors. I also added some bits from the puffy stickers, wood veneers and layered stickers.

I really hope you enjoyed and got inspired to create something beautiful with your cut files. Until next time, happy scrapping.

All My Love

Today's layout is brought to you by the Everyday Essentials cut file!

I was immediately drawn to the string-art "Love" and wanted it to be the main focus of a layout.

I cut the "Love" from patterned paper, and layered it over my photo. Next, I added some Gelatos to the background beneath my photo to give it an added layer of interest.

I used gold rub ons and coordinating flowers throughout the page. I decided to make the title "All My Love" so I added gold Thickers to the side of the L. I finished the page off with some gold mist!

That wraps it up today, thank you for joining me!

Chillin'

Hi there! I love it when a cut file comes along that inspires you to use some of your stash! I've been sitting on some Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss since last year. I used it for a couple layouts, but it's mostly been sitting around because I struggled with the more theme-y bits of it. Along came the Fresh Squeezed cut file, and inspiration struck!

The citrus cut file was perfect for my stash, along with a fun picture I had of my niece being her cute and sassy self.

I cut out the 8.5"x11" size of the Fresh Squeezed file, and painted it a green-yellow Gelato color. I dipped the actual Gelato into water, and just colored directly on the cut file, I rubbed it in with my fingers, and it covered the whole file without buckling the paper. I also added in some yellow for some dimension. I laid out my photo and embellishments, and then cut out the circles that would be covered by the photo. These were perfect to go on either side of the cut file to make it appear larger!

I added enamel dots and brads to the center of the fruits, and the layout was done! The only question is are they lemons or limes? The green-yellow color makes it indeterminable!

This layout and cut file has me all ready for summer and craving a glass of lemonade! I hope you have a happy, sunny day!

Life Is Good by Ashley Horton:

Ashley says:  I wanted to use the new Spinning Spirals 12x12 background cut file on my first layout.  I sized the cut file down a bit and then layered it over Gelatos that I added to the Pinkfresh Studio background paper.  Once the Spinning Spirals background was in place, I added machine stitching to adhere it to the layout.  Then I used some of the fun phrases from the You + Me stamp set from the Neat & Tangled shop, to layer along the edge of my photo.  I stamped the phrases in different colors on White cardstock, cut them out, and then used the same color stamp pad to add color around the edges.  I also wanted to add some of the cute heart stamps from the set, so I stamped them on one of the Pinkfresh Studio patterned papers and fussy cut them.  Then I just scattered them onto the layout.

Big Smiles by Ashley Horton:

Ashley says:  On this layout, I used cut files from the Sweet Hearts cut file and the Target Practice cut file.  I cut the cute clouds from White cardstock and layered them over the White background to create a soft look.  The arrow was cut from a cork patterned paper included in the Notes & Things collection from Crate Paper.  And I worked with the Scrap Circles stamp set on this layout.  I stamped the Love circle in Teal ink onto White Cardstock.  Then I fussy cut around each of the circles, added them to my layout, and then added hand stitching around the edges of each circle.  I also used the word Love from the You + Me stamp set and stamped it over the watercolors in the background.

Guest Designer Anke Kramer

Happy Monday everyone!  We have a new Guest Designer joining us this month, and I am so excited to share her work with you!  Anke Kramer creates beautiful layouts, and her use of cut files always adds an amazing touch to her pages.  Anke created two gorgeous layouts to share with us today, but first let's get to know a little more about her.

Hi, My name is Anke and I live in a small town in Northern Germany with my husband and my dog Edgar. I’ve always loved being creative in many ways such as painting, drawing, decorating etc. I got in touch with scrapbooking in 2011 when I was looking for ideas for an album I wanted to create as a gift for my brother. I visited many creative blogs and galleries and immediately fell in love with all of these pretty papers and embellishments. One of my favorite scrapbooking tools is my silhouette cameo so I was very excited to be invited to work with The Cut Shoppe designs, as a guest designer. Thank you so much Ashley!

Here's what Anke had to share about her two layouts, using the Flower Power cut file and the Rosey Posey cut file!  I chose two floral designs and colored them with layers of embossing powder.  For fine details, I like to use an embossing pen instead of an ink pad.

For creating the watercolor background I applied Gelatos on a piece of foil, added some water with a paint brush and then pressed the foil onto my cardstock. Finally I added some stamping.

WOW!  We love what Anke created with these two floral backgrounds!  And her embossing and watercolor techniques add such a beautiful touch to the cut files.  Thank you so much Anke for designing for us today!  You can find more of Anke's work on her Blog, Bits & Pieces, and connect with her on social media!

So You & a Process Video!

Hey Cut Shoppe fans!  Are you ready for some new cut file sets?  We have three new sets and a bonus set, that was added in the Shop on Monday.  For my layout today, I decided to work with the Rosey Posey cut file.  It was definitely hard trying to decide which set I wanted to feature this week!

I cut the Rosey Posey cut file from White cardstock and then used Gelatos to add color.  I enlarged the image some in Studio, because I wanted it to cover a bigger area of the background.  And I coordinated the Gelato colors with the Bella Rouge collection from Pink Paislee.

I am sharing a new Process Video, showing how I added the Gelato colors and put the layout together and you can check it out on YouTube!

And when you visit the Shop today, you'll also find these new cut file sets, along with lots of other fun designs!
