Groovy Chick

Hello everyone, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that many of you liked my CAS card! I was a bit hesitant to even ask (in fear of the dreaded silence when people are too polite, lol) but apparently I had nothing to worry about! Thank you so much for all the kind words, they are very much appreciated.
Well, considering I much prefer lots of layers and embellishments on my usual cards, we're back to my comfort zone with this one. I thought this groovy little chick from Wee Stamps was calling out to be colored, so here's what I came up with...

I really wanted to do a hippie style card, but I didn't have any tie dye patterns, and really didn't feel searching for some, so I went some really colorful papers with very organic patterns instead. I skipped the whole peace, love thing and just went with the flow.

I had to add a computer generated groovy sentiment though, complete with a Flower Power font, lol! And maybe the retro felt daisies...

Oh well, it is what it is... thanks for stopping by!

Winter Birthday

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was very nice, I had a few days off so I really got to enjoy it at home and we went to my parents to spend the day with my folks and brothers. I did get all my baking done, as well as those snowflake cookies I was talking about but I've got NO pictures to show for it! I made the mistake of making two batches of butter cookie dough, not knowing that one would be way more than enough and it ended up being a HUGE project! I spent the entire day making cookies, then rest of the evening decorating them so I was exhausted. I wanted nothing more to do with them when they were finished! I learned a few things from that day, and I can say I won't be making them again any time soon, lol! But I had plenty to give out to family and friends, and even brought some to work and they seemed to be a big hit. It was a good recipe.

Anyway, I want my routine back, enough hustle and bustle so here's a card I made recently. I'm still in winter mode, not ready for flowers and springtime yet, so I decided on a winter birthday card. This is a digital image from Wee Stamps.

With the popularity of Nordic patterns all over the place, I was really wishing for an embossing folder with a knitted pattern. Cuttlebug, Sizzix, anyone? Anyone? Nope, nowhere to be found unfortunately. So, I improvised and created a stamped pattern using the knit background pattern from Waltzingmouse Stamps. How awesome would that be as an embossing folder?! They have herringbone, argyle, hounds tooth, but no knit! Get with it!

Image was colored with Copics, and I added a little decorative hand stitching around it. The snowflake is an Amuse Studio die that I covered in clear EP to make it nice and shiny.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pretty Little Witch

Hello folks! I had such a hard time putting together this project, it sat on my desk for weeks. I didn't want a traditional Halloween theme, and I just couldn't figure out how to do it otherwise. Night after night I searched through my stash of patterned papers, but nothing appealed to me. Until I found this oldie but goody from Cosmo Cricket's Gretel collection. I love old CC, I wish they would do more of these old-time designs. Wonderland and Gretel are two of my all time CC faves.

So once my paper was selected, the rest came together much more easily. I colored this digital stamp from Wee Stamps, 'Hazel' with Copics. She's so pretty! The fancy black frame was cut on my Gazelle from a Penny Duncan file.

I'm thinking about framing this instead of making it into a card, I haven't mounted it on anything yet. I'll have to stop at the craft store to see if anything catches my eye. This would look so good hanging on my wall, don't you think?

Thanks for stopping by!

Wish Big Angel

Good morning everyone, getting back into the swing of things now! I have a sweet little angel card to show you today using one of Wee Stamps' digital designs. I used very light Copics to color the whole thing, I wanted a soft, ethereal look.

The paper are from the Basic Grey Wisteria pad. I made the felt roses using MFT's rolled rose die. I love the roses that die makes...

My new Ottlite is not serving me as well as my old one, and I don't know why. They use the same bulb but this one doesn't seem to be as bright. I'm kind of disappointed and might have to invest in yet another one. Maybe a larger floor lamp version. My pictures just don't seem as vibrant and if I touch them up too much with photo editing, they look too far apart from the original. Sigh...

You'll have to take my word for it that this card looks much more beautiful in person than the picture.

Thanks for visiting again, have a wonderful day!

Fox? Squirrel?

Hello everyone! I tried pretty hard to stay away from the pastel colors this time, I do tend to stick with my favorite colors and next thing you know, all my stuff is starting to look the same, lol! SO I broke out the bold, bright colors and went with it.
As the title of this post says, I'm not sure what kind of animal this is, but isn't it CUTE?! This little guy is a digital image from Wee Stamps.

I colored him with my colored pencils, thinking more 'fox' like colors than squirrel, only because I like the reddish browns better than greys.

I die cut some Creatables flourishes, punched and shaped some little flowers to add some floral sprays in the corners. A big fluffy seam binding bow finishes the card.

So how'd I do without the pastels?

Thanks for visiting, come back soon!

The Little Things

Good morning everyone, I'm glad to be back home even though it's a disaster area, lol. While I was away in NC visiting my brothers, my darling Jimmy decided it was time to re-tile our one bathroom. Wonderful! The shiny new white tiles are beautiful. The rest of the house....NOT! sigh.... I'm going to have blinders on for a few days, just pretend everything's normal.
Just as I suspected, we were staying with my brother who happens to NOT have internet at home. He lives alone and only needs his HTC smart phone for all his internet needs, so I was out of luck. I did manage to 'borrow' from the neighbor's Wi Fi if I was sitting out in the yard, haha, but the signal was pretty weak.

Anyway, here's a card I made using one of Wee Stamps new images last week.

Darling, no?
I hope I don't have trouble getting back into the 'groove' after my vacation, sometimes my mojo takes a while to come back to me, lol.

The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley's new clear sentiments collection, some really beautiful sayings for all types of cards.

Thanks for still being here, I'll be back to my regularly scheduled programming in no time!

Sweet Angel

Isn't this little girl just like a little angel? Look at that face! I am so in love with these images from Wee Stamps. I have a feeling this artist is going to be in serious demand and we will soon be seeing many of her designs in rubber!

I chose these pretty Stampin Up papers in soft feminine colors, but NOT pink, lol! I do tend to overdo it with the pink. I colored the sweetie with my colored pencils, her skin with Copics.

I love using the stamps that coordinate with Spellbinders labels, I wish there were more available. This one is from Gina K. The sentiment is from PTI though.

Hope your week is off to a good start, I'll be back soon with another project, and don't forget the Lili of the Valley Thursday challenge is coming up! I have something different planned for that.

Thanks for looking!

Spring Bough

Good morning! No April Fool's pranks from me today, although I'm expecting my kids to come up with something clever at some point, lol!
Thanks to the wonderful world of forums, I get to discover new stamps from around the world without ever leaving my chair. Recently there was a thread asking for people to share their latest discoveries in the the world of digital stamps, and the original poster shared Wee Stamps. I immediately fell in love! If you're a long time follower of my blog you know how much I love images of sweet children, so these gorgeous little angels hopped into my cart faster than a speeding bullet and I had this darling colored up in no time. Isn't she beautiful?!

Wanna know what my color inspiration was for this whole card? A couple of felt squares I had in an old shoe box! Before I discovered wool felt, I used a lot of the inexpensive synthetic felt used for crafting. I had purchased a sampler of many different colors a certain Etsy seller carried, so I had dozens and dozens of swatches that weren't really large enough to do anything with. However, there were these three colors right next to each other that caught my eye, and this card was born! I ended up using the small squares to die cut some flowers as embellishments. Aren't the colors just perfect?

It just so happens the colors worked perfectly with these pastel papers from the Prima Fairy Flora collection. I love them, and I have to get more of these paper pads before they disappear forever. I rarely buy duplicates of patterned papers, so when I really love a certain collection, I stock up.
The swirly die cuts behind the image are the beautiful Creatables dies from Marianne Designs. I cut them out of some Cryogen White paper I got from The Paper Temptress. It's an absolutely stunning subtle shimmer paper that's not too flashy, but has just a touch of glimmer to it. I've colored on this paper with Copics before too, and it's amazing how easily the colors blend on it.

Thanks for all the lovely comments everyone, and thanks for visiting!
