It's all about the space

It's all about the space, 'bout the space, 'bout the space, no clutter!

Hi Everyone! Today I am the guest designer at Inkspiration! How exciting! They picked me because they really liked this post. That was a fun card, but today's card is much more in my wheel house.

When Marina sent me the inspiration I realized many folk will go in a certain direction. Not me, I always have to push and buck the system. So what is the word? It is SPACE!!!! Now you might understand tribute to Meghan Trainor.  I am a CAS gal at heart so it really is about the space, no clutter. Susan from Simplicity is one of my idols. She is definitely about the white space!

I actually made several different designs but I take being a guest designer seriously and did not want to disappoint you with something that was just too simplistic. This design was based on a favorite Easter card from my DH and is a great way to use those tiny stamps that often perplex us. Today I used a very old StampinUp stamp paired with an equally old sentiment from A Muse.

Be sure to head on over to Inkspiration and see what the DT has come up with. I am heading over their now myself! An remember- SHOW ME YOUR SPACE!!!

MIA, but now I am back!

Wow.... it has been quite awhile since I last posted. The main reason for that is because I have been really sick. I have had a cold/?flu for the past 2 weeks. It has really put me out of commission. The last thing I have felt like doing was being creative. It was enough just to go out Christmas shopping and do all the things the holidays require, plus having to work. Well enough complaining, while I am not completely well, I have started working in the studio again.

First, I did what I do every year at this time, I purged. Boxes of stamps went to the attic and lots of stuff just got tossed. Once everything was cleaned, sorted and organized, I sat at my desk to play.
Just Us Girls is one of the few challenge sites not taking a holiday break. Just what I needed to get past my holiday block. They had a cool photo challenge.

I just loved the pink and grey colors with the fun polka dots thrown in. Since the Christmas stamps are put away  and the Valentine stamps are out, I had to make "love" card.

The image is an old StampinUp set stored without the name of the set. Gotta love the elephant especially since I just noticed there are elephants on the pillow in the photo.

I hope you will play along with my buddies from JUGS.

Technique time at Just Us Girls!

Hi everyone! We have had a week of rain. I am so ready for some sunshine. This weeks JUGS card makes me feel sunny! Sue V. is hosting a great technique challenge this week at Just Us Girls. She is asking us to do watercolor stamping.

I wanted to try something a bit different then distress ink on my stamps and spritzing it. I remembered Shari Carroll demonstrated a distress stamping technique on the Hero Arts website that was cool. I have included the video on how she does it.

The first card I stamped the flowers on a separate panel and popped it up. The card below is one layer. I used bristol board for the card base. I discovered this card stock from taking the online watercolor class. I love how well watercolors work on it. They blend an mix with little warping. Kinda reminds me of working on tags.

Join us with your watercolor stamping creations over at Just Us Girls!

Sunny flower sketch

I noticed that using an inked acrylic block as a background has had a resurgence. I enjoy making this backgrounds using different distress inks. Personally I think the distress inks work the best with this technique. My card is an interpretation of the challenge sketch over at CAS(E) this sketch.

I also made a blue version. I couldn't decide which one I liked best to enter in the challenge. i ended going with the orange version. Which one do you like?

I have my last class tomorrow night and I hand in all my projects Yee Hawww!!!!

See  you all soon.
