Peony Blooms

Happy Monday all! I am hoping that I have a much better week this week than last. I just have to give you all a quick recap. I run an endoscopy unit and last Monday, I found that our unit had been broken into and all my colonoscopes that are used for colonoscopies had been stolen!! 18 scopes!!

How crazy is that!! It seems there is a huge black market for scopes. Third world countries and drug cartels. Who knew! I was grateful to be able to borrow 5 scopes from my sister hospitals, so I was able to get my procedures done. It was hairy when I am used to having 18 scopes and had to make do with 5.

Anyway, it's a new week and I am happy to be sharing another card for the Inky Paws colored pencil challenge this week. Last week I talked about using my besties colored pencils because I really do not have a full set. This week I used her Farber Castell watercolor pencils.

Today I used the Peony Blooms from Newton's Nook for my delicate watercolored card. To get the soft watercolor look I wet my brush and take the color off of the tip of the pencil directly rather than color the image and then watercoloring it. I find when I do that I get all kinds of lines. The splatter is fun and easy to do. I get the tip of the pencil really wet and pigmenty with a thick brush and just start banging on the pencil with the brush to create the splatters.

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in our new colored pencil challenge. We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is this Friday, May 3, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.

Colored pencil twofer

Happy Easter Monday all!! Hope you all had a blessed and sweet Easter holiday. Mine was very low key. The holidays are done for a while, so I can get back into my routine.  I love routine!

This week's challenge at Inky Paws is sometinh completely different! We are hosting a colored pencil challenge. Now that's a challenge for this girl! I only use copics for coloring. But Haven't I always said that's why it's a challenge!

I do not have a full set of any colored pencils, so I was off to my bestie who has a number of colored pencil sets.  For today's card I used her Inktense pencils. I had heard they work well on dark paper.

They worked like a charm on the floral fringe stamp set from Newton's Nook. Newton has the best new die set that I used for my card today.

I had such fun with thisstamp set and the colored pencils that I decided to try it on kraft paper.

I will let you decide if the Inktense work well on kraft also.

Easter fun

Hey everyone! One week to an egg-stra special day! I am talking about Easter. That hip hoppity kinda day, where the bunny leaves behind all kinds of sweet goodies.

My husband loves Easter. he is a big kid when it comes to holidays. He gets a basket every year and I have to hide it. After 31 years in our house, I am running out of places to hide a basket!! LOL!!

You still have another week to play along at Inky Paws for our awesome sketch challenge. Today's card features Newton hiding out behind all the Easter eggs. I used Newton's Easter Basket for my main image. I actually had this piece in my stash. I pulled it out and it went perfectly with the sketch. This card was easy-peasy.

Magic mushrooms

Good Morning all!! Hope you all were able to enjoy the bit of spring over the weekend. I think old mr. winter is finally heading out.

The new challenge at Inky Paws is a sketch challenge. I had fun with this. I was able to use a new stamp set from Newton's Nook called "garden mice".  I loved the image of the wee mouse picking around from the mushroom. This particular mushroom is called the fly amanita and it supposedly has some hallucinogenic qualities.

I kept my card simple with using the colors of the mushroom and a pop of black. I added some glitter and my card was complete.

Pink Dinos

My good buddy Margarita thinks pink is the "most beautiful color in the world". While I happen to love green, I am partial to pink also. Pink was my mom's favorite color. I was a change of life baby with two older brothers. My mom never expected to have another kid, let alone a girl. Needless to say I had almost exclusively pink wardrobe.

So I was excited for the new pink color challenge at The Rainbow Card Challenge. I decided to have fun with this challenge and go a bit crazy. I know most of you are thinking pink and flowers in the same breath, but I wanted to go in completely different direction.

Like many of you, I have really downsized the wooden stamps I own, but there are a few that I cannot part with. This card fearurestwo of those "have to keep" wooden stamps. Both from Hero Arts. They are so old, I cannot even find them on the net anywhere.

This is a great card for anyone and the best thing is that it would look good in any color.

This month's music inspiration is a classic from John Mellencamp, "Pink Houses".

So get your pink on and join us for a perfectly pink challenge over at the Rainbow Card Challenge.  You have all month to play along!!

That's why it's a challenge-take two

Last week you all had to listen to me whine about the color challenge at Inky Paws. I was crying the blues about how difficult the color challenge was. Waaaa waaa waa.... Time to grow up and get out the Catherine Pooler inks.

I find myself reaching for Newton's Nook's "cottage garden". It has a great selection of stamps that I can use in a variety of situations.

I grabbed the bunny and stamped it in the required colors. How cute they look in these pastel colors.  I don't know about you but argyle is more spring than winter. Newton's Nook's argyle stencil was the perfect addition to the bunnies. the sentiment comes from Newton's Nook's "spring pile up" stamp set.

I love to use my dies in different ways. The scalloped border on my card was done with the "frames and flags" set from Newton's Nook.

Head on over to Inky Paws and join in this challenging color challenge. Stretch yourself and your creativity! We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20.00 Newton's Nook store gift certificate. Our favorite entries from each challenge will be highlighted the following Monday, so all entries have a chance to be featured on the blog.

The deadline to enter today's challenge is Friday, April 5, 2019 at MN CST. The winners will be announced on the following Monday at Inky Paws.
