My Baby is a Kumquat

I find that statement knee-slapping hilarious.

We are Destin Bound, My Friends

We are driving to Destin, Florida tomorrow morning with some of our very besties. We are leaving quite early actually- 4:00am. It should be interesting to see what we all actually look like at that time of the morning, but I'm not sure if I will be coherent enough to make the observation. I plan on being doped up on sleeping pills until we get there because for me, car rides + being pregnant = not fun. So I opt for the easy way out. Drugs. Pregnant-Lady-Safe, of course.

The tallest building is the place where we are staying. Yeah, there's a pool on the roof. And it's pretty much awesome. And I definitely foresee some nightly walks on the beach...

I am kind of bummed about the forecast though. There is like a 40% chance of rain every day we are there. BOO! Hopefully it won't rain EVERY DAY, ALL DAY. Although I do love me some thunderstorms. Just no hurricanes, please. Honestly I don't care if it rains, snows, sleets, or whatever else. I will be relaxing regardless.

See you suckas on the flip side yo.

Guess What???

So I have been trying to figure out a clever way to announce this...but my brain has failed me. So...

I. AM. PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know a lot of you already know, but for those of you who hadn't heard yet...well, now you know. :) And don't feel bad if we didn't personally tell you. We finally realized it was pretty much impossible to tell every single person, so we will just let the grapevine do it's magic :)

Ryan and I have gone through a lot to get to this point so you can imagine we are BEYOND ecstatic! Which should answer the question of "Were you trying?" Yes.

So "Baby B" (as we so affectionately call our little mutant) is quite small. Only the size of a grape (almost an inch long). That is just amazing to me considering it was only the size of a poppy seed just 4 weeks ago. AMAZING! I mean I am growing a human in side of my belly...WEIRD! And AMAZING! Wait, I want to say amazing one more time...AMAZING! I crack myself up...

I find it hilarious that right now the baby is compared to a grape on babycenter.com since grapes are pretty much the only thing I can eat without wanting to barf it right back up. Well, that and Blue Bell Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream. OMG. I could eat a pool full of that stuff.

So the number one question I get asked without fail by everyone that knows I am pregnant is... "How are you feeling?" Which I absolutely do not mind one bit because I feel so loved and worried over. :) So, on to Q and A....

How are you feeling?
Not so good actually. I haven't thrown up yet, but I definitely get to the point where I sure wish I could and get it over with. I have a near-constant feeling of queasiness which I would not wish upon my worst enemy. Well yeah I would on my worst enemy. But the next worse...definitely no. I am especially sick in the evenings when all I can do is lay on the couch with my eyes shut. No moving, no talking. And movement or noise makes it worse. I have been going to bed at the very latest by 10:00 o'clock. Last night it was 9:30pm and it was glorious!

When are you due?
I am 8 1/2 weeks along today and I am due March 22, 2010. We very well could have an April baby if I am a week or so late. Which would be great too. It was so weird to me to say "March twenty-second Two Thousand Ten" for the first few times. 2010??!! That is like futuristic sounding to me.

Do you want to know the sex of the baby?
YES. A thousand times YES.

When do you find out if it's a boy or a girl?
October 23. About 2 1/2 months...of torture! I can't wait that long! Although, that is my birthday so what an awesome birthday present right?? It will be such a fun day.

Do you want a boy or a girl?
I do have a slight wanting for one over the other the first time around...but I will absolutely be happy with a boy or a girl. Ryan doesn't care. He always says, "I just want a healthy baby." Which of course is all I want too.

How has Ryan been?
Poor, poor Ryan. That boy has been so awesome. Ever since I started feeling icky, he has gladly done whatever it is I need. He cleans the house, takes care of the dog, feeds the cat, does the laundry, tucks my feet back under my blanket, gets my medicine for me, cooks dinner, makes me breakfast, runs to the store to get me ice cream only for me to turn my nose up at it when he returns, massages my feet, comforts me when I can't take it anymore and the list goes on...he is THE BEST. I just love him so much.

Any cravings?
NOOOOO. I can't stand the smell, texture, temperature, or taste of any food right now. Everything tastes so weird to me. The only reason I eat is for survival.

Are you showing yet?
No, unless bloating counts! And I haven't gained any weight yet either. In fact I think I have actually lost a pound or two because I am having such an aversion to food right now. Don't worry, I eat plenty. Ryan makes sure of that. In the first trimester pregnant women shouldn't increase their caloric intake at all. And then in the second and third trimesters they should only increase it by 300 calories. That isn't very much at all.

So that is all for now. I will be sure to post some belly pictures when the belly appears. It will probably be a while though. I CAN'T wait! It will make all of this sickness so worth it...

Meet the Duck Commander..."Check."

Ryan met one of his heroes yesterday. Nope, not Jesus. Guess again. Nope, not Oprah.

The Duck Commander.

Photobucket

Picture taken with iPhone, sorry so blurry.

As most of you know Ryan is an avid duck hunter and any man who is a true duck hunter knows of Phil Robertson, affectionately called "The Duck Commander".

Well, because he commands ducks of course.

So, for my husband to meet the man who inspired his passion for duck hunting, I think, is pretty stinking cool. Now he can check that off his list of "Things to Do before I Die". I would bet a billion million dollars it was on there.

I will have to admit, The Duck Commander is a pretty cool guy. Now he is a little scary looking, yes, and VERY back-woods-Louisiana-red-neck, yes, but after an hour or two or THREE of watching his DVDs you come to know a man that is actually quite decent, hilarious and entertaining to watch.

This is the whole gang. The Robertson Clan, plus two buddies.

All I know is that I'm glad I'm not a duck.
