A Trip Home
This past weekend I went back to Plano to help my mom paint the house. Ryan stayed home and managed a project in Marlin, just 45 minutes north of College Station. He worked all day long while I painted all day long. I took Roxie with me. I think Ryan missed her, and she him!! She would just randomly start wining, and I think it was cuz she missed her daddy. My mom and I painted for 2 days straight. She got a wild hair to spruce up the house so, we painted every room up stairs: the game room, and three bedrooms and got half way done with mom and dad's room before I had to go home. I will have to go back to help finish the other rooms. I thought the rooms turned out really cute. The one shown is Mandy's bedroom. My room was painted GREEN! Love it! Danni came over Friday night for a visit. We enjoyed some yummy icecream and hit they hay. We were both tired, Danni from work all day long, and me from painting. It was good to visit with mom and dad and Bill and Cherie too. Roxie likes to play with her friend Lady. Not so much with Sophie, they just bite each other. It's actually really annoying. I think it's just because they are both puppies and they both are doing the biting thing so they just never let up. It was a good but long and tiring weekend!

Hunting Season Begins
Things have been going well. Ryan and I really enjoy having school only one Mondays and Wednesdays. That gives us Tuesdays, Thurdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to study, work, be with each other, clean, do chores or go and do something fun away from the house. We are trying to get a routine down that will work for us. We are really excited about our latest investment. We have a duck lease now. We are basically paying this guy to let us hunt on his land. We have thousands of acres of ponds and fields to hunt on. We are really excited for duck season to roll around! Sept. 1 was opening day of Dove season. My dad, Ryan's dad, Ryan and I went hunting and shot about 30 birds all together. Ryan shot his limit (15), my dad shot 4, Bill shot 6 and I shot 2!!!! I doubled up from last season:):) It was a really fun time, memories that will always be remembered.Cherie froze the birds for us, so Ryan and I could take them home. We meant to cook for Brian and Chris, but they had prior arrangements, so Ryan and I cooked the dove for ourselves. We felt silly making such a gourmet meal for just the two of us but we had fun! What you do is take the dove breast, with the bone in. Make a slit on each side of the bone, making a pocket on either side of the bone. In one slit put purple onion, in the other put jalapeno and on the underside of the breast put cream cheese. Wrap the whole thing in bacon and ta da! Pepper them and put em on the grill and it is so yummy! I made mashed potatoes and creamed corn to go with it. And for dessert I made a raspberry/lemon custard tart. It was really good, and FUN to cook with Ryan, cuz cooking is my favorite thing to do...and what's better than doing your favorite thing with your favorite person?! :)
