I hope I have this right!!

One thing about time flying by, it can really get going so fast that you lose all sense of time. (If that seems like a conundrum, it's because it is!)

I wanted to post an old picture of Ara - since we are all thinking that the years have really flown by since she was born. So I went browsing through the pix on the old computer (because I haven't mastered scanning just yet.) And found some I liked - and then doubted myself by saying - "Is this indeed Ara - or is it Ella?"

I'm pretty sure this is Ara - with a much younger Hannah and Eliza - because I remember buying her those pajamas - and they look bright and new in this picture. They may even still be around - but I'm sure not so bright and new looking.

Author's note: My use of the word "conundrum" - my new favorite word - doesn't exactly fit the definition - but fits enough of it to count!

nine is probably just fine

In this picture, Ara's thinking "I'm NINE?!" Well, she's not, because she wasn't nine, but whatever.

Whenever I see a picture of Ara I shudder a little bit to think that we are both getting so old... haha. I remember nine years ago today that I was the last to find out that she was born (and that I had to forgo a slumber party at Chelsea's to go to Ojai). Sixth grade. Gap in teeth. My, things have changed.

I'm just thinking of a lot of things right now. Ara not being a baby any more is just so weird to me! haha. I remember all sorts of funny things, like how she said "Hi!" and everyone being so excited to buy Christmas presents for the new baby... crazy.

Happy Birthday, Ara!!

A grand time was had by all. Complete with Bingo - which I failed to win - and some tasty treats. Posted by Picasa

Room 5 at CMS

As Red Ribbon Week Chairperson, I added a little pizzazz to the usual plastic table cloths from Smart and Final wrapped around the palm trees to look like red ribbon! We not only passed out lollipops that said "Say No To Drugs" but we planted 100 red tulips by the parking lot. In April they are all supposed to bloom and remind everyone to "Just Say No!"

I'll let you know how it works!

Since I had my camera with me, I took a pix of my Language Arts students - thought you might like to meet them - they're an interesting bunch - with a charm all their own!

I promise to photograph the red tulips when they bloom in all their glory!!

Construction site O.R., Malibu, CA

These are the little guys I pulled out of my finger. The top one had to come all the way through with pliers--just like in the movies when the guy pulls an arrow out of the guy's back. The other one was longer but subtler. You can see the end of it protruding just under the point of the top one, but the entry site is way over on the left of the finger.
I will say I felt rather rough and ready after the ordeal. Perhaps just a notch or two under the poor sap who had to cut his arm off with a pocket knife so he could get down out of the mountains.
Well, almost a notch or two. Posted by Picasa

Someday I'll Learn How . . .

Yes, I will learn how to link - but I haven't yet and I want everyone to check out Eliza's Christmas post on her blog - you all know how to get there! I loved it - especially the shot of the men looking tired!! (All the women will just nod knowingly and say "Been there, done that!") Nice shots of Noah too!

There is so much to learn in this life - and I'm sure I'm not going to learn it all. But I hope I can figure out how to make contact with every sister in my ward - I want to at least have met them all!

Maybe I shouldn't have goals to "meet everyone, read everything, organize all, etc" - maybe that is what is frustrating - not meeting the goal. A dear friend from the long ago days at Butterfield Arms used to say, "If you can't meet your goal, change your goal so you can meet it."

Maybe my goal should be "Every week I will try to contact one less active sister I don't know."

I'll let you know how it goes - if I remember!! (I won't even start on making goals to remember stuff!! I just lose my lists!)

Anyone going?

DL and I want to plan a trip to go up for Eliza's festivities. Anyone interested? We've never been and so many of our friends are from there that we want to check it out.

Free at last; they took your life, they could not take your pride--in the name of love

Hey all. Happy birthday to MLK, born 77 years ago today. I listened to part of I Have Been to the Mountaintop on the radio this morning as I got ready for the day--not a bad getting-ready-for-the-day soundtrack. Esp. Sunday.

Here's I Have a Dream, for good measure.

And enjoy your civil rights.

I had a dream

Last night I dreamt that Mom made me go proselyting on my street to raise money to get the sister missionaries back in our ward. It was so weird, and so very real.

food, dude

I'm the OFFICIAL party-planner for the mr. dungbeetle cast and crew screening on the 27th of this month, and I'm searching for ideas. Food-wise. So I'm thinking things like 7-layer dip, you know, party food... but I'd like your input. What are good food ideas for a party? I know I'm asking the right people (cough Phoebe, Bonny cough), so I would so very very VERY love your opinions.

Maybe I should have polled Betsy's recipe blog, but yeah... any suggestions are welcome.

And I love you.

Why I love coming home!

chiropractical?

Dad might know the answer to this... how effective would a visit to the chiropractor be if I've been having severe back pain for about four days now? Seriously, every time I breathe in it feels like knives are stabbing me in the back. I put the heating pad on my back when I read last night, and tried to sleep with it, but it's hard to sleep on your side and keep a heating pad in the right place.

AUGH!

It's driving me nuts!

Au revoir mes cheres soeurs!

I have been dependent on flickr to post pictures - you all know me - I tend to be one track - as in I know one way to get to the temple, one way to get to Grandma Clayton's, one way to Timbuktu - anyway, I am branching out - so the photo has little to do with the post! (But I still eat the same thing for lunch every day!!)

Thanks to Eliza, who so willingly shares her techno expertise. And Bonny is going to show me some stuff the next time she's here - I need fairly explicit instruction!! Watch for exciting communiques from yours truly!! (But not fewer exclamation points!!)

It's back to the old grind - first day back at school and it feels like you never had a break! Although I did come back to a clean classroom, and they had installed new windows that can be opened and pushed out - so you can get a breath of fresh air without turning on the a/c!

And I sorted and purged in the putting away of the Christmas decor. And got a new comforter cover in the guest room - very IKEA and vibrant - you'll all want to come and stay there!! (And you are welcome to come.)

And Monday is a day off!!

Never Too Many Pictures

On Christmas Day in the morning. Curly, curly, straight.

Look at all those chic peeps. It's like Mom always says...brown is the new black.

Dad sharing his talents.

Hugs at Grandma C's.

Effective multi-tasking is a difficult skill to learn. Gotta start early in life.

Hi, stampy.

Hi, huggy.

Hi, tably. Sorry, this isn't the greatest shot--actually, it's a horrible shot--and Mom was momentarily replaced by a ghost, but I thought I'd share anyway. It was a big table.

Another corner of the table.

I'm not sure I understand Henry's "I surrender" arms pose, but I like it nonetheless.

Happy New Year.

Christmas 2005 in the San Gabriel Valley

This isn't the most flattering photo of the Terrill women, but it was early in the a.m. - and nobody was looking at us - they were watching the horses!!

How many kids have I taken into the coach barn at the Arboretum??

Getting all the grandkids happy, smiling and facing the camera is a challenge - one we had a hard time meeting!

But we had a lot of fun at the Arboretum - and Kids Space - and Burminco - the Rock Store!!

Ask me about tandem bike riding too!
