Subsea structures in place at Karish offshore Israel - OFFSHORE MAGAZINE

Allseas' Solitaire & TechnipFMC's Normand Cutter at Karish
22 Jun 2020

LONDON – TechnipFMC and Allseas have completed two major components of Energean’s Karish gas project in the Mediterranean Sea, offshore Israel.

Allseas’ Solitaire completed installation of the 90.3-km (56-mi), 30-in. and 24.in gas sales pipeline in water depths of up to 1,700 m (5,577 ft).

The full program included placement of a tie-in manifold structure in 72 m (236 ft) water depth.

On average, excluding the beach pull, the rate of laying was 4,578 m/d (15,019 ft/d).

TechnipFMC’s construction support vessel Normand Cutter installed the production manifold, subsea isolation valve foundations and structures.

During 4Q, installation should get under way of the three sets of risers - 2 x10-in. and 1 x 16-in. - that will connect the three producing wells to the FPSO and then to the gas sales pipeline, finishing in 1Q 2021.

Currently the Karish development is around 80% complete, Energean said.

Gazprom gets go-ahead for second TurkStream offshore gas pipeline - OFFSHORE

JAN/23/2018

MOSCOW – The Turkish authorities have awarded Gazprom a construction permit for the second string of the TurkStream gas pipeline’s offshore section through the Black Sea, terminating at the Turkish coast.

TurkStream operations are in progress at three sections: onshore in Russia and Turkey and offshore in the Black Sea.

Allseas has completed laying more than 760 km (472 mi) of the two offshore strings since the program started last May. Construction of the landfall in Russia is nearly completed, while in Turkey, work has started at the construction site of the receiving terminal.

Gazprom now has all required permits from the Turkish government for the offshore area, and this means both strings of the gas system should be in operation on time, before the end of 2019, said the company’s chairman Alexey Miller.

Russian gas pipelines to go ahead despite U.S. sanctions - REUTERS

AUGUST 3, 2017 / 1:11 PM
Oksana Kobzeva, Alissa de Carbonnel

MOSCOW/BRUSSELS (Reuters) - New U.S. sanctions will make it harder for Russia to build two gas export pipelines to Europe but the projects are unlikely to be stopped.

U.S. President Donald Trump has reluctantly signed into law further sanctions on Russia but some of the measures are discretionary and most White House watchers believe he will not take action against Russia's energy infrastructure.

This would allow Gazprom's two big pipeline projects to go ahead, although at a higher price and with some delays.

The Kremlin, dependent on oil and gas revenues, sees the pipelines to Germany and Turkey - Nord Stream 2 and TurkStream - as crucial to increasing its market share in Europe.

It also fears that Western partners - needed to develop the deepwater, shale and Arctic gas deposits that will fill the pipelines - will be scared off by sanctions.

Russia's Gazprom has begun carrying out preparations for the laying of the second string of the two-line TurkStream natural gas pipeline to Turkey, a company spokesman said Wednesday, but he denied a report in a Russian newspaper that pipe-laying in the Black Sea for the second string had started.

TurkStream -- whose two lines will each have a capacity of 15.75 Bcm/year -- is designed to supply the Turkish domestic market and markets in southeast Europe, bypassing the traditional transit route via Ukraine.

Contractor heavily tipped to take major pipeline installation contract

Paris and New York-listed TechnipFMC is the front-runner to secure a major pipeline installation contract for Noble Energy’s initial $3.75-billion Leviathan project off Israel.

Industry sources said the super-contractor has beaten off rival bids from Subsea 7 and Allseas, among others, to secure pole position in the eyes of the US independent.

“We think they have got Leviathan,” said a project watcher.

Another market player added: “It’s TechnipFMC for Leviathan.”

TechnipFMC’s pipelay contract is expected to cover a pair of 117-kilometre pipelines taking gas and condensate, separately, to a big fixed platform installed on Israel’s continental shelf, about 10 kilometres off the coast.

Construction contract signed for second string of TurkStream’s offshore section - GAZPROM

Blue Stream gas pipeline facilities
February 20, 2017, 19:20

South Stream Transport B.V. and Allseas Group today signed in Amsterdam a contract to build the second string of the TurkStream gas pipeline’s offshore section. The document was signed as part of the option included in the construction contract for the pipeline’s first string, which had been inked in 2016.

In a similar fashion to the construction of TurkStream’s first string, Allseas plans to use Pioneering Spirit, the world’s largest construction vessel, to lay more than 900 kilometers of pipes across the seabed for the second string of the pipeline.

Background

TurkStream is the project for the construction of a transit-free export gas pipeline stretching across the Black Sea from Russia to Turkey and further to Turkey’s border with neighboring countries. The first string of the gas pipeline is intended for Turkish consumers, while the second string will deliver gas to southern and southeastern Europe. Each string of TurkStream will have the throughput capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters of gas per year. On October 10, 2016, Russia and Turkey signed the Intergovernmental Agreement on the TurkStream project. South Stream Transport B.V., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, is responsible for the construction of TurkStream’s offshore section.

Allseas Group S.A. is the world’s leading company in offshore pipe-laying and subsea construction. The company is focused on comprehensive project implementation, including design, material and equipment procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Gazprom's Alexey Miller on Nord Strean and Turkish Stream - GAZPROM

December 30, 2016

TEKMOR Note
The full Speech by Alexey Miller at conference call on occasion of New Year’s Eve can be found at the link below.

We intend to proceed with this work in 2017, which means that a new powerful gas transmission corridor will emerge on Russia's gas map. It will largely reshape gas flows as regards Russian consumers and international markets. Among other things, by expanding the northern corridor and gradually constructing new facilities in the northwestern part of the Unified Gas Supply System, we are building up capacities for gas deliveries via the offshore Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

The Nord Stream 2 project is running strictly on schedule. The gas pipeline will be brought online in late 2019. I am absolutely convinced that we will put onstream new gas export capacities in a timely manner and in full. The amount of gas to be supplied across the Baltic Sea via Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 will total 110 billion cubic meters per year.

Turkey to start using local currency in energy trade, Energy Minister Albayrak says - DAILY SABAH

December 8, 2016

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak released important messages in a speech during budget talks at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) on Thursday. He said that Turkey has entered a "new era" in its energy policy, in which it will use Turkish lira in future trade with countries where it has a large volume of energy transactions.

According to the information obtained after Albayrak spoke about using the lira in financing giant-energy projects, it was said that the first move in that direction was taken with Russia. Turkey has taken the initiative to use local currency in the trade of natural gas with Russia. Meanwhile, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported that the Russian energy company Gazprom and the Swiss Alleseas Company signed an agreement to build the first pipeline of the Turkish Stream natural gas pipeline project. According to the agreement, the company will lay a total of 900 kilometers (560 miles) of pipeline in the Black Sea, with the construction set to begin in the second half of 2017.
