First Post for Crafty Cardmakers and More

Hello!!!

Today is quite an exciting day for me, as it is my first post as part of the Crafty Cardmakers and More Design Team!   I popped a "DT" after my name on their last challenge of last year, never expecting to be invited to join such a talented group of ladies, so you can imagine my eyes wide open in shock as I read the email asking me to join them, followed by a quick jig around the room by way of celebration!!

Deciding to apply to another DT was quite a biggy for me, as I didn't get a lot of crafting done last year for one reason or another.  The burglary we had in May hit me hard, and not just because they stole my camera, and threw my printer, grand caliber and all my copics, papers and everything else from my desk on the floor - breaking both of the former.  I think my mojo finally returned when both of the people that did it changed their plea to guilty at the last minute meaning I did not have to give evidence, and that they were sentenced to three years in prison die to the violence they used.  That and I just got into making Christmas cards in a big way!!  Anyway, I rediscovered my love for crafting, with the help of crafty friends, both those I know personally and those I only know on line, and a new printer and camera, it was time to get back on the horse, and I'm so pleased I did!!

Anyway, that is quite enough waffle, I should show you my card!

This card is a real mix of old and new stash!

The image is by Time for Tea designs and I've had her ages!!  The aged silver Stampendous embossing enamel on the die cut circle is new-ish (about a month), but the stamps and distress inks are old

The creamy pin is new, but the green one is old, as is the grosgrain ribbon.  The bill of sale behind the image is old, but I don't think it had ever been new an ink pad!  The butterfly punch is sooo old (I think it came from Tesco!)

The Maja Design 6x6 papers are new, and I got them in the Live and Love Crafts sale, and the die cuts, button and gems are old, but the crackle paint is new... as is this cute bunch of keys charm

The sentiment is has been cut down from a freebie, and I have coated this with crackle paint too...

So there you go, my first post for Crafty Cardmakers!  Hope you can join in with this challenge and have time to check out the rest of the DT's creations

Moving times...

Hello, I'd intended to post this earlier, but it just didn't happen.  I'm not at all sure where the day has gone!

It's been a funny week!  The kids both went back to school, and I have been struggling to get back on top of timings, especially with my eldest just starting at his new school.  He looks so grown up in his new uniform, complete with tie and blazer, and he is certainly going to get fit, as he now walks from class to class, and his bag weighs a ton (more than my handbag and that is saying something!)

On Thursday I got caught up in the aftermath of the Sheppey Crossing accident.  I drive across it every working day, and it certainly was very sobering to see so many cars, vans, lorrys and motorbikes all smashed into one another like that, thankfully no one was killed, and my thoughts and prayers go out to anyone injured and their families.

I wasn't perhaps in the best of mindsets to go to Silverstone yesterday with the race team I help out with at weekends.  We weren't expecting much as it's a big old circuit, and a little tiny classic Mini was going to be outrun by pretty much everyone, and we thought we'd be last in class.  Just shows how wrong you can be, as ended the day with a 2nd in class/11th overall, then a 1st in class, 4th overall and a new lap record... which just goes to show that things don't always turn out as you expected.  There will be a video lurking on You-Tube at some point I expect, but it takes forever to upload!

Anyway, I guess I should share a card, as it's been a while!

One of my colleagues moved into her new house on Friday - it's her first home on her own with her Daughter, and I wanted to send her something to wish her well

It's not that fussy, but I like it :-D.  There are some subtle things in there, like a compass (it was on the Bo Bunny "Weekend Market" paper, and seemed like it was meant to be).  The compass pointer swivels and is a TH clock hand thingy)  I cut up a second sheet and 3D'd the world on foam pads, much to the horror of one of the ladies from craft club who goes pale whenever I get the scissors out and start attacking bits of paper!  I have to say I've never worried about cutting into sheets of paper like that

I then cut a label out from Kraft CS and added a few guilding flakes round the edge, and threaded with ribbon

The image is one from a Time for Tea and I think was a facebook freebie called Moving Day - I'm not sure if it's on sale but I couldn't find it in the store?!  I found a few others whilst looking though :-D

I think she liked it :-D

I think that's all my news for now

Love, Sue xx

Please may I enter these challenges

More Magnums, and a bit of a boo boo

I had a creative night last night... after making the boxes for my son's teachers pressies I got going with this card

Now there is something I need to explain about this one... this was been made as for the Little Red Wagon Create and Share Everywhere Challenge but either I didn't read the instructions properly, or the post has changed but I've just gone to post it and found that I was meant to take one of their DT's cards and create something of my own using it as a basic design and not what I have done which was to use something from someone else as my inspiration... duh... I may have got distracted when reading the challenge and missed that bit... even though it's in bold... sometimes my own numptyness amazes me!

OK, so I made the card using this stunning card by Vicky as my inspiration.  Now I was probably a bit naughty as I probably should have contacted Vicky first to check it was OK, so Vicky if you are reading this I apologise and hope you are flattered not offended... won't do it again, promise(namely cos I'm going to read all instructions next time)...

Right a bit of detail

My friend at work had the other Magnum (which you can buy here) card I did out of my box to give to friends who were moving with a rather large cat into a house with a rather small cat flap... and this gave me an idea for a second sentiment.

I've coloured him in with the copics although I'm still not sure about the colour of the door!!  As before I have put glossy accents on his nose and on the cat flap, err, flappy bit

The tag was one that was sitting in my craft box, but it was preprinted with a new house sentiment and was a bit cheesy!!  So I covered it, stamped it, sanded it,put a new eyelet in and threaded the key back through.  A bit of effort but worth it cos I was never going to use it as it was

I stamped the second greeting with some of the 99p wooden alphabet stamps, and cut them out to make a sentiment.

The holes on the left side of the pink paper have been done with a cropadile and a pair of scissors as I don't have a border punch that does this, and quite honestly it's just as easy to do it like this

The flowers were punched using EK success and Tesco flower punches, and the pink gems are from my stash

I just love the bunting which I have domed, and stuck with 3D pads on a bit of embroidery thread.

The papers are double sided ones from Bo Bunny

All isn't totally lost though... I'd still like to enter

Cupcake Craft Challenge - Cats and Dogs

Oh yes and eldest son reports that all of his teachers really liked their cards and presents... phew!!

Welcome

I'm so glad the weekend is here!

Although I've got to do a slight bit of redecorating thanks to my youngest son I'm hoping to do a bit of crafting tomorrow.  We are hoping to go to Brands Hatch, which is only about 20 miles from our house, on Sunday to watch the World Touring Cars, but that depends on kids behaviour and the weather!!

Anyway, tonights card...

I really like this one .  It's quite simple, but I think it works OK - I just love these Basic Grey papers!  I've made it as a welcome card for a new neighbour, but think the image would work equally well for a birthday.  I also think it would look stunning used on a scrapbook page, maybe as a background stamp or similar.  It is one of a really usable set by Artemio from Scrapbook Sisters - sadly I didn't buy it at the time, so I'm keeping everything crossed that it's still in stock come payday (although I am aware that the "to buy come payday" is growing by the day!)

The Olive green grosgrain ribbon and pearls are from my stash

Thanks for stopping by, more tomorrow

I love Magnum!

No not the 80's TV show, not the ice creams (although they are pretty scrummy...) but the stamp I won from Ladybug Crafts Ink a few weeks ago.  I finally plucked up the courage to stamp him and colour him up - and what an absolute joy to colour he is!

I just love his expression and it was really easy to get good shadow on the image... I think this image is so usable and will work really well for mens cards, and I'm looking forward to using him again really soon!

I used glossy accents on the cat flap to make it shine, but it's not showing up that well in the photo.  I'm not sure I got the colour of the door right though.  I also used some of the papers I already had half done from when I did the "I'm Late" card the other week - a complete cheek I know but I'm being driven mad by half sheets of paper everywhere, but I did use some of the gorgeous two tone chocolate brown flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts

Sorry it's a quick one - I'm off to my friends house for a crafty evening, more tomorrow
