Consequences

Dear Boss:  If you are going to make me work 60 hours a week, you cannot expect me to be very sartorially creative by the end of the week.  Love, your very tired employee.

I Miss My Sweatpants Already

Nothing like  few days off to make you forget how to get dressed properly.  I spent the weekend in my the only pants I can fit into right now sweatpants and it was lovely.  Finding something else to wear this morning was way harder than it should be.  Maybe I should start working from home.  Or petition the Courts to allow a more flexible dress code.

3.73999999999944 Miles Away And Other Meaningless Information

Meaningless information to start your Friday:

  • As of this morning I am 3.73999999999944 miles away from having run 1000 miles since January 1.
  • This will be my 565th blog post.
  • I tried on three other pairs of pants before resorting to these (my "fat" jeans)
  • A fully ripened cranberry can dribbled like a basketball
  • During the pre-election stress I purchased four pairs of shoes all but one will be returned.

Britney Jean Spears, Esq.

I didn't really notice how wrong this outfit is for me until I saw a bunch of cute girls wearing better and far more appropriate outfits today.  Then it struck me that this outfit, while cute in and of itself, is completely wrong for me.  Maybe I'll send it Britney.

Inspiration

It is very rare that I take my styling cues from stores or catalogs.  But when I saw how Banana Republic styled this skirt I had to try to recreate it.    My only complaint is that the blazer hides the cute side zipper.

Questions to Answers You Didn't Ask

Today's outfit is a little dull so I thought I'd play Jeopardy with myself

82.7 degrees and rising:  What is the temperature in my office right now?
Leo with Scorpio rising and moon in Libra:  What is my sun sign?
969:  What is the approximate number of days since I have had a vacation that involved leaving the state for more than three days?
Kermit the Frog:  Who is my favorite Muppet?
48:  What is the number of purses I have sold/re-homed since starting my stuff fast resolution?
Don't ask:  What is the number  of purses left to me sold/re-homed?

Intrepid

It probably doesn't look like much, but this skirt is quite a miracle worker.  It is made from some fiber that keeps everything in place and makes you feel as if you spent the weekend eating vegetables and drinking kale smoothies, when, in fact, you ate 16 kinds of ice cream and drank a few pitchers of margaritas.

The Shirt

Have you ever purchased an item of clothing thinking it was the most awesome thing ever only to be surprised that no one else thinks it is as amazing as you do?  That is the story of this shirt.  I purchased it probably 10 years ago and no matter how many outfits I've made with it, it just never draws the love and admiration I thought it deserved. In looking at this photo, I'm beginning to think that the world was right and I was wrong.

Damp

I should have taken this photo before I had to run to court in the rain.  You will just have to trust that I looked a lot better (or at least less wrinkled) a few hours ago.

Bring on the Salted Cheesecake

I went to the doctor today and my heart has been deemed normal enough that I can start running again.  Which I will do right after this doughnut and 8 hours of work ....

back to Fall

The only good thing about today's colder weather is that I remembered to pull out my Frye Campus boots that I did not wear nearly enough this winter.

Red, Blue, and Spring

To welcome the lovely weather that is expected today, I put on this cheery shirt. I hope Spring likes it enough to stick around for a while. Of course, just because it is warm outside does not mean that I am not cold, so I threw on my Marc by Marc Jacobs super bargain jacket until I warm up.

Insert Witty Comment Here

I have spent five minutes typing and deleting some of the most boring sentences ever. I respect you all too much to continue with the folly of being interesting today. Hopefully tomorrow I will meet a radioactive squirrel so I'll have something interesting to say.

Hot Pants

A dangerous side effect of reading lots of fashion magazines and blogs is that you sometimes dress like the girls in the magazines instead of a 40 something lawyer who has to go out in public.

These Boots Go To 11

Have you ever been to a thrift store and gone back to an aisle you had previously checked only to find a new item had magically appeared? That was this case with this blazer. I was just about to leave the store empty handed when this Blazer magically appeared. For $4 how could I refuse it?

Sweater, a Love Story

I got this sweater on Friday and have worn it every day since. Although I tend to avoid turtlenecks because they irritate the huge goiter* in my neck, this one is loose enough that I am not bothered. I've wanted a natural colored chunky knit sweater for a long time but most of the ones in my price range have been itchy. Happily I found this one at H&M on Friday and the rest has been history. Also check out my $2.39 skirt courtesy of the clearance rack at Old Navy.

Forgiving

I got this shirt for $6 at H&M a few months ago. It is very loose and forgiving and keeps me from looking too ridiculous when I want to wear these fabulous but too tight jeans.

Wardrobe Malfunction

Today's wardrobe malfunction is fairly minor and more correctable than many of my past malfunctions but I was too lazy to take a new picture so I've cleverly hidden my gaffe with a Sneetch star.

Easing in to Fall

Although this shirt has a rather "summery" print, I paired it with a light jacket and suede shoes to give it a fall vibe. I think it works.
