Fall

This outfit was completely unplanned and sort of random, but I am happy with the results.

Remarkable

While at first glance this may appear to be just another mediocre photo of a boring outfit. However, if you look closely there are some remarkable details such as:  I am wearing earrings, I got a pedicure (my toes have been trashed by running but I managed to grow back enough of them to get them painted), I shaved my legs (mostly, don't look too closely), and I was able to zip up this skirt for the first time in quite a bit (I know it looks too tight but it actually isn't).

Green Dots

I know this belt doesn't exactly go with this outfit, but I needed something to cover up the fact that I could not zip this skirt up all the way (and still breathe).   Vintage is great but it can be hard to wear when you are waist challenged.

Not Bad for 6AM

I had two big cases in court today which necessitated me coming in a 6am this morning.  Getting dressed in the dark can often yield unpredictable results but I think I did okay today.  Or at least no one has had the courage to tell me otherwise.  Which is win enough for me.

Ahoy Friday

The great thing about these Band-Aids?  I didn't have to photoshop out my knee wrinkles.  Plus, you know, Pirates.  Happy Friday everyone.

Objects in Photo Are Larger Than In Real Life

I am pretty sure that in reality I don't look as lumpy and out of proportion as I do in this photo.  But I am too lazy to take another photo to test this theory.

Roof Pig

Roof Pig is what mr. deathstar and I say whenever we are surprised at something . . . such as when I found this suit under my bed.  I have no idea why I kept it but it was clean and I needed a suit for court today so there you have it.

Ode to Skirt

Many years ago I owned the best skirt in the world (bsitw).   bsitw  was from J. Crew and did remarkable things for my figure and my wardrobe.  She went with everything and was neutral enough that I could wear her once a week and not feel bored.  It was a sad day when I realized I had literally outgrown her and the chances of me being a size 2 again were pretty much non-existent.  I can only hope that bsitw has found a new owner who loves her as much as I did.

Like bsitw, today's skirt is black wool and from J. Crew (albeit factory).  While not quite as versatile and flattering, it is comfortable and pretty cute.  And that will do.

Insomnia

Ever since I was 4 years old and had a recurring clown nightmare, I have had issues with sleep.  For the last three weeks my sleep issues have been especially bad which is my long winded way of explaining my theory as to how I ended up at work in a pair of jeans with a red stain on the BACK waistband.  Seriously - what is it and how did it get there?

Lack of sleep may also explain why I then took a picture of said stain (surprisingly hard) and posted it on the internet.  Or maybe I am just a stain exhibitionist.  On bright side - at least I remembered to put on pants.

Pintrest Comes Through

Remember when I bought a scanner and started to scan/pin all my old fashion magazine ideas?  Me neither.  But I did and yesterday I saw my pin on how to wear a midi-skirt.  So here is my replica.  I think this look may work better on a tall leggy model but I suppose that is true of everything I wear.

Make Your Own Coffee

I suspect I would be a very bad secretary.  But I do loves me a secretary skirt.  Especially a "vintage"* one like this baby from the Goodwill.  The only downside is that I will not be able to eat anything today so that I can keep breathing.  Considering I spent the last few days consuming nothing but birthday cake, fried food, and beer - this may be for the best.

* Considering I was probably in high school when this was made I hesitate to consider it vintage but I think technically most people would say it is.

Questions to Answers You Didn't Ask

Today's outfit is a little dull so I thought I'd play Jeopardy with myself

82.7 degrees and rising:  What is the temperature in my office right now?
Leo with Scorpio rising and moon in Libra:  What is my sun sign?
969:  What is the approximate number of days since I have had a vacation that involved leaving the state for more than three days?
Kermit the Frog:  Who is my favorite Muppet?
48:  What is the number of purses I have sold/re-homed since starting my stuff fast resolution?
Don't ask:  What is the number  of purses left to me sold/re-homed?

LBD

After spending all of yesterday feeling like an extra from Ally McBeal, I was in the mood for something a little more conservative.  It may not be the most flattering of my black dresses but is comfortable and hides a lot of sins.

Classic

I am so glad that 1.  I remembered I had these jeans and 2.  they still fit even after my weekend eating binge.  I am also happy that I "splurged" on this sweater ($6 thanks to some returns and a discount). I expect I'll be wearing it a lot the rest of the summer.

Take your nightgown to work

I bought this dress ages ago back when I was still under the delusion that I was going to learn to sew and could alter this dress to make it more fitted and less nightgowny.  Sadly my sewing plans have not quite panned out the way I wanted.  Rather than give up on a perfectly good $6 thrift store find, it occurred to me last night that I could fake the alterations by cinching the waist with a belt and wearing a fitted blazer (you cannot tell in the photo but the dress has a front zipper from the waist up which I am wearing half open).

I actually like the result and I think it looks like a proper dress.  I am also super excited about my new bracelet! I love Trina Turk but she is usually out of my price range.  So when I saw this on clearance for 80% off, I jumped at it.

Issues with photo editing today.  But since I know you are all dying to know what I am wearing, here's an unedited shot of my outfit.

Gateway Bag

You may not believe this but there was a time that I only owned one or two handbags at a time and never spent more than $50 on a bag.  Then one day I was browsing through Amazon.com and I saw this $500 bag marked down to $100.  I decided to splurge and the next thing you know I have 50 + handbags and I start a blog to track my attempts to reform my habits.

Temporary

I am leaving work early today to go to a doctor's appointment, after which I plan to eat a large lunch (I have to fast before the appointment so I am, predictably, starving) and go for a run (which I skipped this morning due to the aforementioned hunger).  After that I will leave it to your imaginations as to whether I come back to work or sit on the sofa and watch NCIS re-runs.

All of this explains today's outfit which I selected because it is comfortable, easy to get in and out of, and, only temporary.

Damp

I should have taken this photo before I had to run to court in the rain.  You will just have to trust that I looked a lot better (or at least less wrinkled) a few hours ago.

TGIF

It is only 9am and I ready to go home and crawl into bed.  I wouldn't even have to change, because this skirt is absurdly comfortable.
