Gift of the Eagle Feather, #1

Here is my first rotation turn for Gift of the Eagle Feather!

It actually only got four days, since my rotation is to pick up something different on the 5th, but that's okay.  I'm pleased with what I got - I'm actually pretty close to the first eagle wing :D

I had left out one project on my rotation list so I just made a new page of '2016 WiPs'.  It's up top!

Hope you all had a Happy New Year :D

My January 1st Project

Always have to have a new start on January First!

I thought I might start Lavender & Lace's Angel of Hope, which my mother also wants, but I decided instead to start a kit that I've wanted for a long time and finally got my mitts on.

It's a discontinued Dimensions Gold Collection and is called 'Gift of the Eagle Feather'

There's a whole lot of half-cross stitch in my future!

Sometime this year I will also start Angel of Hope, and probably another HAED.

My rotation is going to be these projects (no particular order)

Unspoken
Gift of the Eagle Feather
Flower of the East
Lovers
Chang Wufei
Monthly Snappers
Acquainted with the Night
and something small.  Don't know what yet :D

I still don't have pictures of the framing but they are coming soon!  Everything looks great :D :D :D

The Eagle Has Landed!

Finally!!!

Photobucket

God Bless America
Kit by Janlynn
3 over 1, 11ct
10x13 inches

Every missed stitch, backstitch, and French knot finished :D  (The knots are in the blue part of the lettering.  They don't show up too well in the picture.)  The backstitching was killer, and then didn't really show up all that gloriously unless you're really looking.  Linda Gillum is sadistic, lol!

I forgot to post my IHSW progress, and I've contined to stitch a bit on Lovers, so I'll post an update on it later.

Witch Stitch and Bits is still closing, and now their patterns are 40% off.  I've added these to my collection:

Penguins in Snow I and II, Kitten Playing I-IV, African Elephant, Keeping Guard, Tiger!, Mum's Protection,  Moonlit Tiger, Midnight Run

Landing Gear Down

So I'm really, really late posting again.

It's been since last year!  (wow, I bet lots of people have used that joke...)

Anyway, I have a tolerably good few excuses.  I've had to work a lot, and I've had what I thought was a horrible, horrible cold but that the Dr informs me is walking pneumonia   Yick.  I used to get that all the time in the winter, but it's been awhile and I had forgotten just how icky it is.

Anyway - Eagle!

Due to sleeping most of my spare time away, he's not done.  But he is very, very close!

Here's the last four colors:  Dark Red
Photobucket

Dark Cocoa Brown (I think that's what it was called)
Photobucket

And I flubbed at the end and apparently didn't take a pic with just Very Dark Red added, so here is Very Dark Red and Very Dark Brown to finish all the cross stitching off!  This pic was taken on December 31st, to show how far behind I am on posting XD
Photobucket

And if you think that pic looks prettier - yes, it does.  It's with my very brand new wonderful (so far) camera :D  Yay for Christmas prezzies!  I haven't gotten the focus perfected but the colors are MUCH less washed out.

Only the Backstitching is left and I'm about halfway done. (There is a LOT!  All those feathers!)  I hope to finish up tomorrow or the day after.  So there will be another post soon!  I also have some new stitching starts and one wee finish to show you guys.

Coming in on Approach

I've been soooooooooo busy!

I had to work all of last week except for Thursday, when I spent all day at the dentist.  This week I had to work all day Sunday and then spent Monday with Mum's family and Tuesday with Dad's.

So, of course, the Eagle is not done, but I'm getting closer!

Here's the result from IHSW - added Medium Grey
Photobucket

and then I got about half of the Dark Grey done and finished up later:
Photobucket

Since then I've added Medium Golden Brown:
Photobucket

And while stitching that, discovered I had skipped some quarter stitches of Medium Yellow up among the feathers of his wingtip, and that I had completely ignored the line of Golden Brown (the lightest shade) that highlights his wing.  So I added those and a few quarter stitches that I had also managed to skip on his head:
Photobucket

Now I have only four colors left!  Two shades of brown, two shades of red, and then on to the backstitching!  (And a couple of dark grey stitches I only just now saw were missing!)  I'm currently working on a red, and although I had to work today and I have to work the next four days, two of them are at the job site that I'm allowed to stitch, so I have some high hopes!

Also, there was a payday, therefore there was WSnB!

and Afternoon Promenade

And I'm trying to decide which chart to knock off my wishlist in the HAED sale that starts tomorrow!  I'd love to do another layaway, but I swore I'd pay one off first.  Anyone else going to grab one?

More Eagle

Added Medium Yellow:

Light Yellow:

and Dark Gold:
Photobucket

I have now moved on to the second shade of grey.

Here's my mother's afghan, in all its poor, half-finished glory.  A little over half, actually.  Still a long way to go, though.
Photobucket

I have also added a new page with my afghan plans for 2013!  They are a bit ...um, insane? lol!

I'll have more Eagle pics in a day or two, I hope!  I'm going to bite the bullet and focus on it during IHSW, and then get back to Lovers in January.

Way Behind

I'm way behind on EVERYTHING, so there are lots of pictures and not much progress.

Here's the white done on the Eagle - you can barely see it.
Photobucket

And the next shade done - it's Golden Brown and there were only about 30 stitches.
Photobucket

And the dark blue.
Photobucket

I've got about 50 stitches of Medium Yellow left so maybe I'll be posting a pic tomorrow.  I've given up on getting this one framed in time for Christmas, but it won't be the first time someone in my family has gotten a rolled-up project with a note promising framing! XD

I finished another little kit:

Photobucket

And mum's afghan is on repeat #73, over halfway and trying to finish as my achy wrist allows.  I don't know what I did to it.  It's not carpal tunnel, though.  I'll take a pic of it for the next post. **Edit** Not my wrist, a picture of the afghan! lol!

And there was stash, of course.

From the last HAED sale:

and from WSnB:

More Eagle, and the Last of the New Stash

I found a pack of cheap batteries - enough for one whole picture before the camera died again.

I really need to get to the store!

Anyway, here's the Eagle with the next shade of red done.

Photobucket

I've decided to bite the bullet and start on the white next.  I'm not fond of stitching white on white, but it has to be done :D  It'll finish up a big chunk of this project, too, and November's already half over!  I'm going to have to stop fiddling with other things and make sure I spend more of my very little free time on this and the PM project.  I started the two in the canoe (lol, poetry!) but the batteries didn't last long enough for a picture.

I got the Layaway patterns, finally!  Here's the last of the stash for awhile - I've got two more layaways but I only just started them during the last two sales.

Amanda and Axel - this is the HL I posted about before.

Yarr - I love this picture!

Equus - only the picture is grainy.  The pic on the chart is smooth.  Weird.

Busy, Busy

I've been a wee bit busy this week - every single day at work!

Usually I have Monday-Wednesday pretty much free, but not this time.

Still - I had time to finish this:

Photobucket

And my Mum was helping me out with housework before the phone guy came to fix my lines, and found this:

Photobucket

I'm quite sure that several of you were actually able to hear my shriek of delight!

(She's not on lined fabric, by the way, just laying on a notebook for her photo-op)

Finished up the first shade of grey on the Eagle (blurry, sorry!)

Photobucket

I've already started the next shade - more red.  No pic yet, but I'm over halfway done.

No start on the next PM yet - I keep leaving the pattern.

Mum's afghan has increased some, but I'll not post a pic.  It looks the same, just bigger :D  Next post I'll try for a picture.

One other little project - I was at work without any stitching after finishing the Birdhouse Stocking, so I started the little butterfly kit I posted a pic of recently.  I'm not showing it yet, though - I decided to be silly and take a pic of each color being finished, then post them all at once.  I have no idea why!

I Totally Skipped Poor Fred

At work yesterday, I finished up the Eagle's current color:

Photobucket

So that's it for its turn in the rotation.  Next time I plan to do a shade of grey.

Frederick the Literate should have been next, but he was at home and my lunch break wasn't long enough to go get him (I was at the new site).  I did, however, have my PM Brave project with me.  So out he came.

Photobucket
And now looks like this - I was almost far enough along to backstitch his torso.  I decided I'll just stick with him for awhile - his rotation turn is in hours, not getting a color done.  So Fred's turn kinda got left behind.  Sorry, lil' kitty!

I've also finished up the last three Avengers Sprites - Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and the Hulk.
Photobucket

I need to bug Missy for Coulson and Bruce Banner, lol!

Mum's afghan is giving me some issues - it's making my pinky fingers go numb when I work on it.  This happened once before when I tried to stitch an Apache Tears afghan.  It's all the single crochets - I don't know if it's just the way they're made or the fact that I honestly don't care for them, but my tension is tighter when I work them and it affects my hands.  So I'm forced to take a break for a few days to let them rest.

Which is annoying, 'cause despite the singles, I'm enjoying this.  The pattern was easy to memorize, but is just enough to keep my attention focused so that I count just right.  Here's where I am:

Photobucket

Not too much like a scarf any more - bonus!  This is 27 repeats and I need... um, a lot more! 126 total, I think.  So 99 more?

Here's the back, just for interest - it will almost be reversible   That'll be fun.  My Da has a bad habit of turning afghans 'round the wrong way when he 'fixes' them on the bed or chair!
