Archangel - Progress

This is Archangel by Mirabilia - he is one of my #stitch9challenge pieces.

Here's where he was the last time I posted about him:

and I've only worked on him once, but I finished his other wing and did some of his over-one skin, and I think some little bits in other places but I can't remember.

He's on 32ct Thunderstorm Belfast linen by Silkweaver (old).  I still love him and maybe I'll get a lot done on him.  A finish would be awesome but 'My Day Off' comes first!

Thanks for visiting!

Year of WIPs 2018

Hi all!

I am not dead!  Neither is my stitchy-bug!  I just lost interest in updating my blog for some reason.

So I will do a post of things I've finished since my last post, things I've started, and maybe a few things I've bought?

But for now, I am going to post my Year of WIPs pieces!  Year of WIPs is hosted on Soulful Stitching on Facebook - you have to join the group and sign up for it before the 18th of January.  No new starts, WIPs only, and a minimum of 10.  The goal is to finish at least half of them by the end of the year.  Most people are doing 18 or more.

Mine is 23!

So here goes:

1. 'Voice of Spring' by Gloria and Pat, on 14ct white

2. 'Angel of Hope' by Lavender and Lace, on 32ct charcoal

3. 'Welcome Guests' by Janlynn, on 16ct tan

4. 'Archangel' by Mirabilia, on 32ct 'Thunderstorm'

5. 'Santas of Fable and Fantasy' by Cross Stitch and Country Crafts, on 28ct Wheat

6. 'Sunset Birds' - printed kit from China, on 11ct with the background printed.

7. 'Lovers' by Nene Thomas and HAED.  On 22ct cream

8. 'Friendship Keepsake' by Sunset, on 14ct pink

9. 'Chang Wufei' by me, on 16ct blue

10.  'Flower of the East' by James Himsworth and Dimensions, on 28ct antique white

11. 'Savannah Birth Sampler' by Dimensions, on 14ct white

12. 'Unspoken' by Adele Lorraine and HAED, on 22ct white

13. 'Frosty Forest' by Country Cottage Needleworks, on 32ct Silvery Moon

14.  'Rose Bouquet' by Charmin, on 14ct white

15. 'Acquainted with the Night' by Design Works, on 14ct white

16. 'January' by The Prairie Schooler, on 32ct Lambswool

17. 'My Day Off' by Design Works, on 14ct white

18.  'Lucky Fish', another printed kit from China.  It didn't come with a picture.  On 11ct white.

19.  'Live Simply' by Dimensions, on 14ct white

20. 'Three Kings' by Gloria and Pat, on 14ct oatmeal

21.  'Teacup Kitten' by World of Cross Stitch, on 28ct blue

22. 'Laundry Today' by Dimensions, on 14ct white

23. 'Footprints in the Sand' by Leisure Arts, on 28ct mushroom

And that's my list!  If I can get half of these done, I will be THRILLED!

So, sorry I've been gone so long, and I'll try to be better!  At least I will need to update monthly :D :D :D

Hugs!

Stitching, But Not Much

I feel like I've been stitching and stitching and getting nowhere.

In reality, I've been barely stitching, so it's not a surprise :D

On the 5th, I picked up Archangel.  He was here:

Now he's here:

If you tilt your head just right and squint a little, you might see my progress XD

On the 10th, I started working on my Bent Creek Snappers.  It was here:

My progress disappoints me.  I got a chunk of the border done but didn't finish the October block - I was so close and I could have done it but I was lazy one day and didn't stitch on it at all.  The colors are off in the pic, by the way, but I did change the pumpkin colors.  They were a red/orange/brown color; I wanted an orange pumpkin.

Then on the 15th, I picked up Portrait of Christ.  He was here:

And is now here:

The first two days I barely touched him, then I kind of got in the groove and didn't want to put him down, but his turn was up.  Unless I missed some stitches, though, I finished off one color and got two more almost done.  I also did a bunch of the fractionals around his eyes that you really can't see.

Now I'm working on Unspoken, but on the 25th it's my birthday!  So I'm starting something new!  I didn't do it last year, I don't think, but I used to do that every year.  Haven't decided what it will be yet, but I'm leaning toward a bird kit or a tiger kit.  Or something completely different XD

Happy Stitching, guys!

Playing Catch Up

I ended up working double shifts again, after I was promised that I wouldn't have to do any more.  So from the 3rd to the 9th, I had very little stitching time.

Which completely sucked.  :C   Bleh.

But I did get a little done, so here we go!

On the 1st, I had picked up a UFO.  I was fooling myself that it was a WIP, but a bit of research showed me I haven't worked on it since 2010, so yup - it's a UFO.

Mirabilia's Archangel:

Which did look like this - and I totally remember why I put him away.  That one-over-one on 32ct skin!

Working on HAEDs made this a little easier - it's still much tinier than my HAED projects but I got his hand done, at least :D

And some scroll.  So yay!  Progress on a very old project!  I didn't do any of his metallic yet because I remember needing Thread Heaven for it and I had to order some.  Let me just say that the colors do not do this project justice - they are beautiful rich greens and blues, not the drab olive and dull blue they look like here.  I'll try better lighting next time.

Then on the 5th I picked my Snappers back up.  I had gotten to here:

And made some joke about only getting the suitcase done next time.  Well, it turned out to not be a joke.  I only got the suitcase done.

Still happy with it, though - it is now halfway, border and all :D  Please pardon the big ol' hoop mark!

And this one was not in my rotation plans but there was one day I was just too tired to work on Archangel's over-one skin and so I picked up my China kit and finished off part one - it is the partially-stitched kit, which is divided into several parts, like so:

And here is part one done (a little flash-burned).

The words and the first crane.  Part two is the single little crane so it will be finished quick.  I'm really looking forward to getting this done so I can see how well the ink really does wash out!  (Also, I may put a little backstitch in the crane's wing.  The camera flash washes it out a little, but it does lack some definition, in my opinion.)

A is for Angel

So - the first post of the A-Z Challenge, I took advantage of the Turtle-Trot pieces I already had out, and decided to go with Angels.

I have four big Angel pieces in so-called progress:

Lavender and Lace's Angel of Grace currently looks like this:

 photo gracie_zps3b07a81b.jpg

I got her in my q-snaps yesterday and did the few stitches of 902 that the needle is coming from.  It's the beginning of the two long ribbons from her bustle.  When done, she will look like this:

Next is Mirabilia's Archangel:

 photo arch_zpsab9edd6b.jpg

He is the first project that I ever tried over-one stitching on. The pattern doesn't call for it, but I had seen other people working Mirabilia's with over-one skin and it looked so pretty. I thought this was soooooo hard, though!  I bet after the HAEDs I've been working on since then, he'll be a lot easier!  He's being stitched on Silkweaver's 'Thunderstorm', and I will try and get a good picture of the fabric - you can't tell how gorgeous it is in this shot.  Do please excuse the fold lines, he's been in a box for quite a while.

He'll look like this when finished:

And this is one I don't think I've ever talked about on this blog - Lavender and Lace's Peace Angel.

I have most of a wing done:

The reason I've not worked on her in a long time - it's been years, actually, and I had to hunt for awhile until I found her box - is that I started her very early in my stitching career and after getting this far, suddenly realized - this fabric is a lot narrower than I thought!

 photo pfab1_zps999d72b0.jpg

She will look like this:

 photo pa_zps7e2a1cf1.jpg

And I did not think she was going to fit and she had been so hard - first linen, first over-two project - that I knew I didn't want to restart her.  I was truly afraid to count over and be proved right.  So I pretended she didn't exist and stuck her in a box and started something else.

Today, I bit the bullet and counted over from where I am, 44 stitches to what her total width will be.

And this is what I got (can you see the needle?):

And I can live with that, and so can my framer. (Yes, I called her.)  She says she can sew on an extra strip of fabric and the mat will cover the join.  I can live with that, too.  I'm unbelievably relived!!!  I'm seriously thinking of leaving her out and cramming her into my rotation somewhere.

The fourth Angel, of course, is HAED's Guardian Angel.  Which is still at my parent's house, and which  has practically nothing done on it, anyway - so here's the picture of what he'll look like done and maybe for the Turtle Trot post I'll have some progress!

Now I'm off to sort through some stash and WIPs in an attempt to choose something for the letter 'B'.
