A mixed bag

Well ,we are getting some very mixed weather at the moment. The other day we had hail/ice which covered everything .

 Straight after this , the sun came out and there was glorious rainbow.

Today we have snow , not as much as last time , though it is still trying . The day is very grey. Had a very disappointed hubby and kids this morning when they realised there was not enough to stop them going to work and school .

 I'm lucky to have my Christmas pressies to keep me warm . My lovely mittens .

 This is for my daughter and will be made into a cushion cover .

And these are the butterflies I have been working on for another charity group. They will be put together with other stitched squares and made into comfort pillows.

 These are a few waiting for their bodies , I will do them all together.

I am planning a bit of a stitchy day today as I didn't get any done on Monday or Tuesday. Monday was busy tidying and clearing out and yesterday I was in school until lunch time listening to the kids read. It was kind of unplanned , I just offered to help sort out a problem which got solved anyway so then kind of got volunteered to do reading. I always said I wouldn't go into a class that one of my kids was in , but my sons' teacher is struggling to fit everything in and only has a couple of part time TA's she also has quite a few children that require extra attention.
  First time went ok , so I will see how it goes.

Still snowing a little , and I am meant to be having an extra school run today as DD is supposed to be staying for Handball club , so we shall see.

Utterly fed up .

Sorry folks , I need a bit of a rant today.

 So fed up of the rain and mud everywhere . It is muddy on the way to school , and the chooks have been wading for a couple of weeks now. Of course , it's not just mud that they're wading through , or that I have to wade through to get to open and close them up every day .

 But , that is not my main grumble . I am fed up of people. Not all people you understand , just some of them , and sadly I have to come into contact with some of those people on a regular basis .

 I am bringing up my children to treat others as they would like to be treated themselves , with kindness, consideration and respect , so why isn't everyone else ?

 Several days over the last couple of weeks , my son has been upset by an older child who will not let him join in a game of "Tig" in the school playground in the morning . There are around 20 or so kids playing , of varying ages ,and both sexes and yet he is not allowed to join in . No good reason , other than she has decided he can't . Even if it is not "her game" she tells him he can't play.

  My son is seven years old , and a sensitive soul who just wants to run around with other kids , and have fun.
  I asked the kid (who I know) the other day to please stop upsetting him and let him play, and I was ignored. Today I made sure I wasn't ignored when I stated that it was unfair to not let him play ,especially when there are so many playing , what could it hurt ? The answer was to stop playing until he moved away .

 Why are people so horrible ?

 I am beginning to wonder if me and my family have big neon signs some where that say "treat me like dirt" . so fed up of people being rude , ignorant , inconsiderate and just downright horrible.

 What is the world coming to ?

 Like someone else mentioned a few days ago , I too do not watch the news or read papers etc. The only news I get is from MSN or what other people tell me. It is too depressing and I have to deal with plenty of crap on my own doorstep.


I need a break .

Didn't someone mention Spring?

 I think they forgot to tell everyone .

 This started some time in the early hours of Friday morning, though it wasn't bad enough for the snow day the kids got.
 We went into town in the morning and had a few flurries on and off throughout the day. It started to snow properly around 6pm , and it hasn't really stopped since. Yep , it's still coming.
 The kids went out to play this morning and I trudged down to the local shop for a few bits and bobs, then we went out on the back field for a bit of sledging and snowball fun . Couldn't stay for too long though as the driving wind is very cold , so back home for warm drinks and snacks.
 Think I might do some stitching next.

Fractures,Fish and Freezing Fog .

With not a lot of time for anything else.

Sorry , no stitching to show today. I have only managed to do a tiny bit on LK ABC Lessons, and haven't taken a picture.
 Life has been fairly hectic of late. As well as all the regular doctors. hospital and other appointments , my mum-in-law slipped on the ice last week and broke her wrist. Well, to put it more accurately she smashed up her wrist quite badly, so we were to and fro the hospital for a few days. She only has a temporary cast on at the moment as it was swelling up and due to the severity of the break , she may need surgery. We will know more on Friday when she goes back for a check up .

 Both kids asked for fish for Christmas , so we have been busy running round trying to get them tanks and things to go with the tanks ,and fish . My Daughter has cold water , so she got her first fish today and is so excited,lol . The boy wants tropical so though we have set up his tank , he won't get his first fish until the weekend. I can't believe how stressful this has been , though obviously the worry of MIL hasn't helped. It has to be said though , that she is still very independent and we haven't had to do much . I am really tired and won out though . Hopefully things will settle down soon.

 The temperatures have been getting much colder , and last night we had freezing fog , which left the world around us frosty and white. I thought I'd take a few snaps as there is no stitching to look at .

 That's all for now . Hopefully I'll be back soon with some crafty things to show, as I have made a few gifts recently.

EXTREME !!!

Now we all know that British weather is not always the best , and can be somewhat unpredictable at times . That said , you can usually take a good guess that come a Bank Holiday weekend , there will be some rain . Today was pretty typical at the start . We had lots of episodes like this :

 But , in between , it brightened up and we also had some sun peeking through the grey clouds . At around 1.15pm, it started to thunder , and kept it up for over 2 1/2 hours. At 3.45 , I happened to look up and out of the window , to be faced with this .

 I swear , for a moment , I honestly thought we had a tornado coming towards us , it was scary .

The lady sitting in the parked car was telling us that all along the main road off the end of our street , people were parking up to watch and take pictures , it looked totally unreal . The people under that rain cloud would be soaked through in a second .
 We are still having torrential rain , with rivers running down the road , but this really was a sight to behold.

Catching Up.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. And a big Thank you to everyone who is now sending a card for Ellie , looking forward to seeing more of them.

  Last weekend after having a bath , my Daughter cam downstairs and said "Mum ,I want my hair cutting , can you get your scissors and do it please?" After my horrified squawk of "NO" , I persuaded her to give it a week and if she still wanted it doing , I would make her an appointment at the hairdressers. Until then ,she had been adamant that she was growing her hair down to her bottom , so I was not convinced that she would go ahead with it. By Friday , I was fed up hearing "I am sure I want it doing. "  So off we went . From this,

It is taking a bit of getting used to, but she likes it which is the main thing. Though , she keeps saying that she wants it even shorter.

   The weather is pretty rotten at the moment . Wet and murky today , which is an improvement on Monday evening ,when we had a terrific hail storm which lasted for quite a while.

 Ariel now has a full head of hair , but nothing else yet . This will be remedied quite soon. Tomorrow I am planning a serious case of stitch ass. Hubby has a play date , so when he has gone , I'm planting until it's time to fetch the kids from school . Hopefully , then I will have some decent progress on LK ABC Lessons.

 Still getting used to the new blogger layout ,slow but sure (hopefully , lol.)
