Altered Little Notepad - DT Project for Country View Challenges

Hello all, welcome to my blog!
This is my second project for the September challenge "metal" over at Country View Challenges!
There are some days left to join in with our challenge, remember, you can win a 20£ voucher for the shop! If you need inspiration, please visit the blog, my gorgeous teamies show you a bunch of wonderful projects.

This time I altered a little note pad. I created a metallic surface and added a little metal frame. I´ve made a process video, so you can watch the steps I made while creating it.

Some close ups:

Thank you for dropping by and have a nice day!
Danke fürs Reinschauen und einen schönen Tag!

As Time goes bye - More ways to create rust - DT work for CVC

Hello dear visitors!
Here I come with my second project for our RUST challenge at Country View Challenges!
This time I made a little canvas with many rusty awesomeness =).

As I promised on my last post, I´ll show you some more ways to create rust. If you hop over to the CVC April first blogpost, you will find many different ways shown by my lovely teammates, so don´t miss!
I played around to find some more possibilities, which are not shared yet - well, not easy ;-). But I found some - please grab a cup, it is a long post ;-)

1. DecoArt Texture glass + DecoArt fluid acrylics
I took Texture glass and mixed it with some fluid acrylics in burnt sienna (sorry, no step x step here).
I dried it with my heating tool until it bubbled a little bit. Then I rubbed on top some other colors (yellow, cobalt teal hue, naphtol red light and carbon black) until I was satisfied.

2. Distress oxides and Distress Inks
Here I played a bit with my new Distress Oxides in peeled paint, broken china, walnut stain and spiced marmalade. I added some Distress Inks in rusty hinge and black soot. I layered several times, scratched in the paper and crumpled the paper. Well, I think it is not the very best rusty look, but may be as background for cards usable.

3. Acrylic paints and Decosand
For the next test I took some Acrylic paints in fitting colors and sprinkled into the wet paint some Decosand from the Discounter - this one even smells like coconut  =).
I made some step x step photos - they are speeking for themselves.

I love, how it turned out! So try it out. You can use salt or sand as well I think.

4. Tattered Angels Naturally Aged Paint System - Bronze Patina
This one I used on my canvas. Some time ago I made a video how to use the paint system. Enjoy watching!
This is my canvas:

5. DecoArt fluid acrylics, Tinting Base + Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam + Inka Gold
I painted my gears with DecoArt fluid acrylics and after drying I added some Gimmer Glam (BonBon) and dried it with my heating tool until it bubbled. Lastly I randomly rubbed some Inka Gold on top.

Now I put all pieces together, added some "Bling" and a photo, some flowers and gears - and ready!
And here finally is the finished project!

Wow, this is really a looooooong post! All who came right here - thank you for reading!

I hope, I could inspire you and you´ll find time to join in our challenge! You can win a 20 £ gift voucher for the shop!

Thank you for stopping by!

Steampunk Tear-off Calendar for 2017

Hello all, nice to have you here!
First day of the New Year - wow, it´s 2017 already! Can you believe this?
I wish you a happy New Year!

Fitting to it, I want to share with you my Steampunk Tear-off calendar I made for the January challenge over at Country View Challenges. This month the theme is "Anything goes"! Easy, right?
I hope, you will share your artwork with us. You can win a 20£ gift voucher for the shop, so try your luck!

Here you can see, how it looked before:

I put away the calender and the note pad...
and primed the board with Gesso. then I primed the surface with cracking paste primer and added, after that was dry, a thick layer of moss green cracking paste.Into the wet paste I pressed metal gears, mini clock parts, metal flowers and some other parts. I left it to dry completely. - Look at this cracks!
Now I painted the surface with lasur gel in ebony to bring out the cracks and make everything come together.

The access I wiped off with a paper towel

Into the wet lasur gel I sprinkled rust powder and added rust medium in brown, rusted red and yellow. I put out on my terrasse over night and let me surprise with the result next morning..... and I loved it! =)

Here you can see the real rusted panel. Meanwhile I prepared some chipboard gears and a diecut clockface (sizzix Bigz Die,Tim Holtz Weathered Clock). I painted them with DecoArt Acrylic fluids in Paynes Grey, Prussian Blue Hue, Phtalo Turquoise, Cobalt Teal Hue and Quinacridone Gold. On top I smeared some gilding wax, onto the panel too to make some pieces stand out more.

Then I only had to put all pieces together. I used matte medium to make sure everything stays at it´s place. For some "bling" I added some "Say it in crystals" from Prima here and there - and ready!

Here are some close ups of my panel:

Now I wish you a very happy year ahead and hope, that you find time to join in our January challenge over at Country View Challenges!
