Dry Mee Siam

I saw this Dry Mee Siam recipe from the newspaper, so decided to try it out.

Recipe taken from The Sunday Times February 15, 2009

Ingredients :

6 eggs
350g fresh prawns, shelled and deveined
10 Tbs cooking oil
400g of firm soya beancurd, cubed
15 dried red chillies, seeded, soaked in water till soft then drained
5 fresh red chilles
6 cloves garlic
15 shallots
100g dried shrimps, rinsed, soaked in water till soft, drained and coarsely pounded
6Tbs fermented soya beans (taucheo)
400g dried rice vermicelli, soaked in water till soft, then drained
350g bean sprouts
100g Chinese chives, cut into 2cm-long strips
salt to taste
6 limes, halved

Method

1. Boil the eggs, then leave to cool before removing the shell and cutting into thin slices. Set aside.
2. Steam the prawns for 5 minutes until cooked. Set aside.
3. To a hot pan, add 2 Tbs of oil and stir-fry the soya beancurd cubes till golden brown. Set aside.
4. Blend the dried chillies, fresh chillies, garlic and shallots in an electric blender on medium speed until a coarse paste forms.
5. To a hot wok, add 8 Tbs of oil and fry the chilli paste for some 5 minutes until fragrant.
6. Add the dried shrimps and fermented soya beans and stir-fry until well incorporated.
7. Add the rice vermicelli, mix well and stir-fry for about 10 minutes until the vermicelli is cooked. If necessary, add 1/2 cup of water to the vermicelli to prevent them from drying out.
8. Add bean sprouts and Chinese chives, mix well and stir-fry for another 3 minutes.
9. Add salt to taste.
10. Transfer the vermicelli to a serving plate. Top with steamed prawns, fried beancurd cubes, and egg. Before eating, squeeze the limes over the vermicelli and toss well.

Serves six to eight.

珍珠丸子 - 21st Aug


Saw from OhBin blog that she prepared the 珍珠丸子 and a few blogger friends have tried it out, so i decided to try it out also. Wanted to do it on Wed but have something on, so did it yestereday. It is very nice and yummy yummy. I like it very much.

Fried Pumpkin Fritters - 13th Aug


Called up Aunty Irene on Monday to teach me the fried pumpkin fritter, she told me that this is being taught in 厨房笔记 on Monday and Tuesday (as i don't listen to Violet program, i didn't realise about it), so i tune in on Tuesday to listen abt the ingredients and went to buy it. Print out the recipe yesterday and did it.

4321 鱼 - 11th Aug


Saw from Sally blog that she prepared the 4321 Fish and that i have cook 4321 pork rib and 4321 prawns the other time but not fish, this time round, i cook 4321 fish yesterday. Although the sauce looks very dark, but it is very yummy yummy.

9th August 2008



Saturday 9th Aug is Singapore National Day, in the morning went for a morning walk at West Coast Park.


After coming back, prepare the Grilled Pork Ribs with Plum Sauce that Aunty Irene taught in 厨房笔记.


While watching National Day Parade in TV and at around 7.30pm, the loud music from the getai from my house downstair started. Went down at around 8pm to watch the getai without finish watching the National Day Parade. One of the singers is 宝贝姐妹. As for the host, not too sure what's his name.

Fried Hokkien Mee - 8th Aug

Fried Hokkien Mee came into my mind, so ask my mum to go buy the ingredients and cooked this for dinner on Friday.

4321 排骨 - 22th July




Saw from Ohbin blog that she prepared the 4321排骨 and it is quite simple, and that Sock Peng wrote in Ohbin blog that : 煮了4321排骨,好好吃!! I was tempted to do it, so yesterday i try it out. Indeed it is 好好吃 although the one that i cook don't look appealing.

Chilli Crab - 21st July

Aunty Irene have teach this chilli crab in 厨房笔记 but because this is a 商家 program, the recipe won't be posted in the 厨房笔记 blog, those who wants to request for the recipe have to call up the company to request for it. I have called up the company to request for the recipe by email some time ago but they did not respond, so i sms to Aunty Irene and Aunty Irene ask me to call them up again, which i did, but still no respond. On Sunday was at Bottle Tree Park and saw crabs in which i bought 2 medium size crabs. I have come across a chilli crab recipe in the internet some time ago and have printed out. Yesterday morning i called up the company again to request for the chilli crab recipe by email and they told me they will send after lunch, but in the end i did not receive any recipe from them. In the end, i used the other recipe which i found from the internet to cook the chilli crab.
Sorry ah, Aunty Irene, not that i don't want to use the recipe from 厨房笔记 , but up till now, i open my email, didn't see any recipe from the company.

The other day at Aunty Irene house, she show a picture of the Braised Pork with Bean Curd Sticks and mention that she will be teaching it in 厨房笔记 on mon. Was quite tempted to do it and happen that i have a piece of 五花肉 (Aunty Irene use pork belly, but because i don't like to eat fatty fatty meat, so i use 五花肉) about 250g in the fridge and i only need to get bean curd sticks and i add in dong fen.

Chilli Prawns

Today i cook the chilli prawns that Aunty Irene taught in 厨房笔记, instead of leaving the shell there, i peel off the shell instead. Wonder will L-5 sit sofa?
