Make a Tote Bag and More...From 3 Placemats

Nothing gets my brain working more than a bargain. If I see something on sale or super cheap, I automatically think…what can I make with this?

The perfect example of this are these placemats!!

Do we use placemats? No, but for $1.00 I had to get them to make a quick sew project!

I love place mats, because the edges are already sewn and hemmed for you.

Here's what I made!

A tote bag, a wine bottle bag and a key chain.

This is a quick and easy project with just straight line sewing…

Quick Sew Hobo Beach Bag…Made From a Towel

Beach season is finally here! Although hubby and I haven't been yet, Kelsie has gone on the weekends with Jared and during the week with Emily. When they go, they want to carry light…a chair, a towel and a little bag of "stuff".

So I was thinking why not make the bag out of a towel!! Here's what I came up with…

Hobo Beach Bag made from a towel…it's a bag, a towel to lay on and it has a pillow too!!

You just need 2 towels and 2 lines of stitching on your sewing machine!!

Tote Bag Storage Ideas...Fiber Fill Storage

Hi everyone! My sewing room doesn't have closets to store larger bulkier items, so I have to "create" a way to store things and make it look nice too!!

I have a ton of fiber fill or stuffing for pillows and things. You know that you can squeeze fiber fill into anything, so I used a super large canvas bag my daughter bought me for Mother's day. It was black and white, so she knew it was perfect for me (and my sewing room, lol).

Isn't it pretty? It's great for a beach bag or traveling, but in the meantime it's in my sewing room.

Tool Time Tuesday...Drop Cloth Purse

This week's Tool Time is definitely from the hardware store...in the paint section actually. We're using drop cloths today. They come in so many different sizes and different types of canvas and oh yeah...they're cheap. Some canvases in the fabric stores can be $10.00-$15.00 yer yard, if not more.

You can use drop cloth fabric for so many things...curtain panels, bags, outdoor furniture slip covers, pillows, tablecloth etc.

We'll be making this cute little tote bag today. Totally winging this pattern, so no specific measurements, just the concept.
