Sending All My Love Floral Card

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Thursday!

With Summer finally in bloom in the UK I've been loving all the flowers that are around! In particular roses seem to be everywhere, and they really do remind me of childhood summers at home.

The Hero Arts Floral Rose Stem stamp set features a stunning rose image that resembles an intricate ink pen drawing. It was just begging me to give it the monochrome treatment, so how could I say no?

I love how pretty this is!

I stamped the rose image three times, with the tiniest bit of masking to give a cleaner look!

The Mama Elephant Occasional Labels stamp set is such a great all-rounder that every stamper needs! I love the look of all these smaller-scale sentiments, and this one makes for a great multi-purpose card.

Some black ink splatter finished the pen and ink look perfectly!

Rock On! Mashup

It's Wednesday again and I'm back with a project featuring a mix and match of Waffle Flower, Lawn Fawn and Mama Elephant products. I love the Rock On! stamp set from Waffle Flower and even though I'm jumping on the same bandwagon as fellow DT member Jill this week, I have two bright, cute cards to share with you!

I started out by stamping all the images in the set onto some blending cardstock using some MFT Licorice Black Hybrid Ink. I took one of my fine liners and altered some of the images slightly, changing some of them into bees. I coloured them in with my alcohol markers, using at least three markers in each hue to give depth and dimension. I then used my Scan N Cut to cut out the images, though there are coordinating dies available.

To create the background scenes, I blended on some Distress Oxide Inks onto some white cardstock. For the sky I used Broken China, Blueprint Sketch and Faded Jeans. For the grass I used Peeled Paint and Twisted Citron. For the purple sky I used Abandoned Coral, Candied Apple and Seedless Preserves. I flicked on some clean, clear water droplets and blotted them off with a paper towel before setting them aside to dry.

From two A6 white card panels I used the Mama Elephant Fish Tank Creative Cuts to cut a window out of the top half. It's actually the perfect size for this type of window when turned upside down! I used a Lawn Fawn Simple Grassy Hillside die to cut out two pieces from the green inked panels to give my scenes a ground.

Behind the window, I layered a sky background panel and the grass cuts before popping up the die cut characters with some foam tape. I stamped out two different sentiments that coordinated with the characters on the card. For the more busy card, I used some Lawn Fawn Inks to stamp out some musical notes to give the scene a little bit of life.

Tooth Fairy Gift Tags

Today I’m sharing something a little bit different.

My young nieces and nephew will soon be at the age where they'll be getting visits from the tooth fairy. To make this a more magical experience for them, I decided to make some thank you tags for the 'tooth fairy' to use. The fabulous Lawn Fawn Fairy Friends stamp set is perfect for this.

I stamped, coloured and cut out lots of images from the Fairy Friends stamp set. I then die cut some tags. There are lots of great tag die sets in the store. You could even cut some basic rectangles or squares too.

I blended some ombré colour on to the tags, then stamped the sentiment from the Fairy Friends set with black ink. I added the die cut images to the tags, using foam tape for the fairies.

I then stamped some extra images from the set on to the tags to add more interest, and finished by punching a small hole in each tag.

The tags can be added to a small organza gift bag, containing a coin from the tooth fairy to say 'thank you fairy much'.

Mammoth Birthday Wishes

Hello, Jenny here welcoming the new week and today's card is the product of some colouring practice. I've been keeping a watchful eye over our little dog this week whilst he recovered from an operation, so I found it easier to stamp out some images and colour them wherever I needed to be...... I went through my stamps and found some sets I hadn't inked up yet!!!

This Woolly Mammoth and his friend are from Neat and Tangled's Prehistoric set.... I love how she's positioned so she can sit on his back!! I masked off the girl and stamped the mammoth so they were all one piece and then set about colouring them with markers.

I carefully trimmed around the image and used a couple of scenery images from MFT's  You're Rawr-some..... the boulder is the top to a small mushroom in MFT's You Gnome Me, it's the perfect shape!

I sometimes struggle to plan a layout on my cards so I turned to my patterned paper scraps for a background. I thought a cut on the diagonal would be a different way to add a focal area for the images as well as leaving a space for the sentiment.... another thing I'm not great at planning for either!!
I've used a sentiment from the Rawr-some set and just replaced the word BIG with die cut letters instead to accentuate the meaning.

That's one scrap of patterned paper used.... many, many more to go!!!

Cowboy Sunsets

I sadly don't have anyone to make father's day cards for anymore, but felt in the mood for a masculine make so knocked up a few cards that could work for father's day but gave them an every day twist with added cowboys....

My inspiration was the new Desert Sunshine fancy die from Hero Arts - this really is my kind of product, I love a silhouette die and an excuse for some ink blending.  I die cut a circle from kraft using the Lil Inkers Stitched Mat Circles and trimmed the panel to fit my base card and lightly traced around it so i knew where to ink blend.   I used oxide inks to blend from purple to yellow on the white base and fixed the kraft panel in place over it once dry.  I then die cut the desert sunshine silhouette from black and used the same circle die to trim around it to get a circle to fit in my aperture and glued that in place.  I wanted to add some clouds so used some white liquid pearls - and then discovered it reactivated the oxides so my clouds turned golden (let's just call that the sunset effect shall we!)  To finish I wanted a really strong masculine sentiment to match with the strong black silhouette so used the large happy birthday from Snarky Mix and Match sentiments also from Hero Arts.

So I had a circle of kraft card left and I am trying to not through away bits of card, but also NOT add to my scraps stash, so I made another card....   I used the same inks and blended them as before but the effects were so much more subtle on the kraft as you can see here from the side by side shot.  I quite like the softer look.

Once dry I ran it through my die cutter using the safari sunset die to get the cloud effect as its a perfect size to match the silhouette die..  I die cut another desert sunshine from black and used a large circle from the circle infinity die set to again get another circular frame but this time without the stitched detail.  I popped them onto a white base card again and finished with a sentiment from AlteNew's Birthday Builder set.

 Finally I decided to go full on cowboy using bits from the die paired with the new Cowboy Adventure stamp set.

I started with the sunset stamp and embossed it with detail white powder [this stuff in the bomb by the way - I'll be doing a future post featuring detail white and black powders as they really are amazing] and then masked off the back of my base card so I could ink blend a sunset sky.

I added hills and a "canyon edge" foreground using Mama Elephant's Kingdom Trio die just using plain white card blended with more oxide inks.  I stamped the grand canyon elements from the stamp set and used pencils to get some extra colour depth to those which I then fussy cut as I didn't want the borders from a die showing in this card.  I tucked the two on the right behind the foreground so their lack of a bottom edge didn't show.  I die cur the cacti from the desert sunshine die twice from scraps of black left from previous card and just trimmed the bottom edges with scissors to get a bit of ground for them.  Finished by stamping the cowboy in black across the two layers [use a fine pen to draw in any bits that don't meet up] and a sentiment from the same stamp set.

Pretty Peonies

Hey stampers, Anni here!

Today I am sharing two simple cards featuring Mama Elephant’s Pretty Peonies.

I started by stamping the flowers with embossing ink on watercolour cardstock and heat embossing it with white embossing powder.  For the colouring I used ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens and a waterbrush. Then I fussy cut out the images.

I wanted to create a clean and simple card and let the flowers stand for their own. So I asked myself: What could I add to make the card more interesting without taking the focus from the flowers? I decided to go with decorated rectangle die cuts. Reverse Confetti’s Lacy Scallop Frame dies are perfect for this. I die cut the rectangles from white cardstock and matted them with matching coloured cardstock.

For the sentiments I chose simple ones from Lawn Fawn. One is from the set Tiny Tags Saying: Birthday and the other one is from the set: Happy Happy Happy.

Both cards took something around 1,5 hours what is fairly quick for me – I am a real slow time crafter- and I had fun making them!

Get your rocks off & ROCK ON!

Jill here, and this week I’m getting my Rock’s off....

...by getting my Rock’s on using the incredible ‘Rock On’ from Waffle Flower!

This set is so awesome.  You can make the little winged bugs anything you want by colouring however you like.  There’s just something about them that makes me smile.  They have absolute killer rock star attitude and I am LIVING for it!  The little guy with the drum though....

This was such a simple card to make but when sets have as much character as this there’s really not a lot needs doing with them!

I started by creating a quick watercolour wash across a piece of cardstock as my background, adding a ton of flicks and splashes to add interest.  I then cut MFT’s Peek-a-boo Windows from a separate piece of card and adhered over top using foam tape. 

I then got to the fun part of stamping out and colouring my bugs.  I decided to make mine bee’s because bees are awesome and so are these guys!  Once coloured I fussy-cut, added a coat of Glossy Accents to their wee wings, and placed over each ‘peek-a-boo’ hole.

My sentiment is from the same Rock On set and is stamped into a frame from Lawn Fawn's Flirty Frames set.  Oh, and just for a change (wink wink), I coloured all my card with my trusty Zigs.

I really hope you like it and simple rule for life...ROCK ON!
