Happy Birthday with a Little Surprise

Hey stampers, Anni here!

It was the birthday of a special (crafty) friend of mine last week so I wanted to make a special card for her! Last year we were on the return journey from a trip and we had a lot of fun celebrating her birthday in the car. I wanted to make a card in memory of this day. Avery Elle's Birthday Bus is just perfect for that. I also wanted to add a little surprise with an interactive element in the card. But more about that later...

I started by stamping the bus on watercolour paper using Versafine Onyx Black Ink because it is water-resistant. For the colouring I used watercolour. To cut out the image there are coordinating dies available.

For the background I used Altenew's Bubble Wrap Stencil. I blended a warm grey ink over it and let it fade to the upper part of the panel.

The sentiment came from the Birthday Bus set, too. I stamped it with Versamark and heat embossed it in white on a stripe of pink cardstock.

But now let's get to the fun part: the surprise on the inside of the card! When you open it, this cute little box pops up.

This interactive part is very easy to create when you use Lawn Fawn's Mini Pop Up Box die. You can find a video about how to put the box together on Lawn Fawn's You Tube channel.

I decorated the box with a cute little cat and a bunny with a balloon from Avery Elle's Party Pals.

Hope you like my take on an interactive card!
Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty weekend.

Birthday Pals

Hello, Tallie here. Whilst the weather turns chilly here in the UK I needed a bright and colourful birthday card to cheer up my Nan. The Avery Elle Party Pals stamp set has some purrrrfectly cute little cats!

I started by smooshing some Broken China and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks onto some watercolour paper. I built up the layers until I was happy with the texture and die cut using an MFT Inside & Out Circle STAX Dynamics die. I used a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border Die on the green circle to layer over the blue sky background.

I stamped out the two kitties, the 'HAPPY' banner, a star and a heart from the Avery Elle Party Pals stamp set and the party hats from the Avery Elle Peek-a-Boo Pals set, in some MFT Extreme Black Ink onto some blending cardstock and coloured them in with my alcohol markers. I stuck to bright, happy colours in rainbow order.

I fussy cut the items out and stamped the two sentiments so I could arrange them on my card base.

Thanks for reading, stay warm and catch you next week!

Party Pals Celebrations

I've swapped with Jenny this week to bring you this celebratory card featuring the cute Avery Elle Party Pals stamp set!

I stamped out the two bunnies and a star from the Avery Elle Party Pals set onto some blending cardstock with some alcohol-friendly MFT Licorice Black Hybrid ink. I coloured these in using my alcohol markers using the lighter warm greys, some pink for their nose and ears, and a couple of reds for the star. I used my Scan 'n Cut cut to cut them out but you can also use the coordinating dies.

From the Simple Stories Let's Party paper pack, I cut out a panel of light greenish-blue patterned paper that was just slightly smaller than A6 and mounted it onto a top folding A6 white card base. I also added some white stitched lines around the edge with a white gel pen, bringing in the white of the background as the pattern was so subtle. From the same pack, I die cut a star using a really old die from my stash (something like the Altenew Halftone Stars would also work) and used some Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide to give some dimension to the star and pop it up from the background. I adhered this directly to the background panel, popping the bunnies and star I coloured earlier up on some foam tape in the centre of the yellow star.

I cut several of the Lawn Fawn Scripty Congrats die cuts, including one from black cardstock, and adhered them together with the top layer slightly offset. This I adhered underneath the star and covered in some Glossy Accents. A few clear sequins and a couple of white gel pen dots finish off this lovely celebratory card!

Thanks for reading. Jenny will be posting this Wednesday but I'll be back next week with some more inspiration!

Party Pals

Hey stampers, Anni here!

I just couldn't resist these super cute critters from Avery Elle in the Set Party Pals. And to be honest I didn't even want to. And I can't decide which one is the cutest! So I put mostly all of them on today's card - just left the pig out - so that means I have to make a card with the pigs!

I started by stamping, masking and colouring all these cute critters. For masking I use full adhesive Post It notes. I added in an image of two smaller balloons ( in the set Party Pals is just the big one) from Avery Elle's Toucan Party.

When I finished stamping and colouring the scene I put all my masks on the critters, the balloons and the letters on the banner. To create a sky and a grass hill I added some ink blending. I cut a mask from masking paper for the hill. One part of the mask I used for the grass and the other half for the sky.
I also stamped some stars in the background and filled them with glitter glue.

I adhered the coloured scene to a card base and that finished up my card.

Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty weekend.
