Blue and White Brushstroke Blooms

My card today showcases the beautiful new Brushstroke Blooms stamp set from MFT. This is a layering floral set, with solid images, so it’s perfect for creating quick floral cards with a painted look.

My inspiration actually came from an oriental bowl I saw on an antiques programme the other evening! I love the look of blue and white porcelain, and thought a pattern of blue flowers and leaves would work really well on a card too.

I chose three colours of MFT inks - Blue Yonder, Cornflower, and Blueberry - and stamped clusters of flowers and leaves onto a white card base. I didn’t do any masking, just selective inking for the leaves so they didn’t overlap the petals.

I finished the card with a very simple sentiment banner and greeting, plus a few sequins.

If you wanted to make multiple cards with a patterned background, try stamping a larger sheet of card and then cutting it down to add to several card bases.

Thank you for joining me today,
Gemma

Cheers To You!

Today I thought I'd share something a bit different. Both MFT and Avery Elle released wine tag dies recently. They are a great way to dress up a bottle, and can be decorated many ways for many occasions.

I'm using her MFT Wine Tag dienamic for this project, which I die cut from white card.

On another piece of white card, I blended some MFT inks in purple to create an ombré. From this, I die cut the MFT Cheers dienamic several times. I layered these onto the tag, cutting off any letters overhanging the tag.

I left some space empty at the top of the tag so I could add a sentiment from the MFT Uncorked stamp set. I finished the tag with a few gold glitter die cut hearts.

Flora Cat Greeting Card Set

Waffle Flower have recently released some gorgeous new stamp sets featuring cats. I love the nature inspired patterns and the cats expressions are perfect!

There are four sets to choose from and I just love the fun sentiments in the Flora Cat set. I also couldn't resist the cat in the box image! I think all cat owners will recognise that scenario!

I decided to make a set of greeting cards to give as a gift to my friend.

Choosing a classic colour palette of blue and peachy pink, I stamped the images with a dark blue ink, and added colour with coloured pencils.

I kept the cards simple and one layer, allowing the beautiful images to take centre stage. I just love the expression on this cat!

To add a finishing touch to my gift, I created a sleeve to add around the cards and envelopes. I used the Concord & 9th Perfectly Penned stamp set to add a message, then wrapped the sleeve around and secured with adhesive.

I stamped a paw print on the front of the sleeve and also on the envelopes to tie everything together.

I'll link to all the Waffle Flower Flora Cat stamp sets below.

Hello Sunshine Floral Border

The Hello Sunshine stamp set from Altenew has been on my wish list for a while, so I was excited when the Altenew restocks came in recently and I managed to get hold of it.

I love the illustrative style of these flowers and leaves. I thought they would look great in black and white as there is a lot of detail to them.

I planned to use a stitched rectangle frame so I masked off the edges of a white card base so no stamping would appear outside the frame. I stamped directly onto the card base with black ink, to make a floral frame.

Next, I chose an accent colour (MFT Razzle Berry dye ink) and blended on some ink in two opposite corners of the rectangle frame, softening the colour out to white. I then added this to the card with liquid glue.

I die cut the Neat & Tangled Celebrate word die from white card, and blended on the same ink at the bottom, gradually fading to white. I added this to the card too, then stamped in the same pink ink, a small greeting from the Avery Elle Sentimental stamp set.

I toyed with adding some pink sequins but decided to keep the accent colour to a minimum and used clear sequins instead.

This is a simple design to recreate with any of your floral stamp sets, but I think it works particularly well with Altenew Hello Sunshine.

Fairytale Pop-Up

Hello, Gemma here with a pop-up fairytale card to share.

With three nieces, the MFT Once Upon a Time stamp set was a must have for me! I decided to make a pop-up card for a fun surprise when the card is opened. It took a little more time to put together, but I'm really pleased with the end result.

I started by stamping and colouring three of the images from the Once Upon a Time stamp set. I used colouring pencils (my current favourite colouring medium), then fussy cut them out. Some of you in the know may have spotted the pony is Pinky Pie, from My Little Pony. This is my eldest niece's favourite, so I thought she'd enjoy seeing her featured on the card.

For the background, I created some stencils from the Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud dies, then blended on some MFT pink and purple inks to create a pretty cloudy sky. I used an MFT Grassy Hills border to create the grass, using MFT ink again to blend on colour.

I ran the background and grass through my die cut machine with a scalloped rectangle die and attached to a card base. I then added the images on top.

For the inside, I die cut a rainbow and added ink to each piece. I used some tape to put it back together and some card at the back to make it sturdier. I added two die cut clouds to the rainbow.

I cut a piece of card slightly smaller than the card base and scored in the middle. I blended on the same sky detail as the front of the card. Using the MFT Pop-Up Elements, I cut two pop-ups and attached the rainbow to them. There are both narrow and wide pop-up element dies available so I'll add links at the end of the post, as either would work well here.

Once this piece was adhered to the inside of the card, I added a banner with a gold heat embossed greeting, made up from two sentiments in the Once Upon a Time stamp set.

To finish the card, I added some sequins and hearts above the princess and the pony.

I gave this card to my niece last weekend. She was so excited to open the card and find the rainbow inside.

Have a lovely day.

Birthday Present with Mini Tag

I had an idea for a card featuring a birthday present and a mini gift tag. I searched through my craft stash but didn't have a present stamp big enough, so instead I got creative.

The stamp I chose is from the MFT Fall Florals stamp set. It's the flower stems image, but I thought it would work really well for what I wanted.

I chose some MFT ink cubes in blue colours, and stamped the stems image five times onto white card, going from dark to light ink. I made sure to remove the ink from any part of the stamp that I didn't want to use before stamping.

Next, I die cut some Mama Elephant Mini Tags from white card, and stamped a greeting from their Mini Messages set. The stamp set has a great range of mini sentiments, which perfectly fit on the tags.

To add the tag to the card, I used some Lawn Fawn twine. I also added a bow and more twine to the present.

As this was a fun and simple card to make, I recreated it with pinks and reds.

Thanks for joining me today.
