Christmas Card Challenge # 13

Hello everyone - hope your weekend has been good weather wise.  I'm scheduling this so don't know what the score will be in the England/Italy match...............there may be an awfully lot of sore heads out there this morning.

I'm just posting this quickly as I've been cooking all morning (Saturday) preparing for our village BBQ where we cook for about 80 people!!!!  Absolutely wacked already, but it looks like the weather is being kind to us.

Anyway, onto the reason I'm here today - it's another challenge at the Christmas Card Club and the lovely Carol has set the challenge today and wants to see penguins (or other Christmas birds) on our cards.

I've used an Art Impressions stamp which doesn't appear to have a name/title but the number is UMU4170. I've stamped it onto watercolour card and watercoloured the image.........thought I'd kill two birds with one stone as it was our craft club on Wednesday and we were showing the girls various die cutting and embossing methods and also various ways to use watercolour!  The shape of the card comes via my friend Jill  and it's a really nice one.  I've die cut it using my Stampin Up Framelits and used patterned cardstock from my stash.  The sentiment is a Stampin Up one from Gifts of Christmas.  I've added some glittery fluffy stuff (don't know what else to call it!!!) and some Stickles to finish off the card.

If you'd like to join in the fun simply email Margaret (link on my side bar) to play along.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Happy crafting.

OHHH!!! BTW have you spotted the deliberate mistake?????  Let me know if you find it!

I've finished!!!

Hi Everyone

Just a quick post today.  Thought I'd share the last 3 Christmas cards I've made.  Hopefully that's all the cards done and everything posted that needs to be...........until you get one from someone you've forgotten!!! lol

Come and see what I did

On these three cards I've used Heartfelt Creations Christmas Poinsettia stamps and the matching die (which also matches Sunkissed Fleur).  The sentiment is from their Sweet Memories set and the trees come from Anna Marie's Christmas Tree set.

I've stamped the Poinsettias onto patterned vellum and gold embossed them.   I've used an 8x8 Embossalicious e/f and Spellbinders circle and scalloped circle nesties.  The Stampin Up bow die came into play and bling is from my stash.

I have used Poppystamps Grand Gothic Iron Work and Grand Gothic Window for the centre card with a wintery scene behind the window.  I used Taylored Expressions Basic Bow die.  The sentiment is Stampin Up Greetings of the Season cut out using SU bauble punch.  Corners are Cheery Lyn Lace Corner Deco die.

Right better get off - just getting my things gathered for our Santa's Grotto in the village hall tomorrow.

Have a great weekend.

Less is More - Week 132 One Layer

Hello everyone - hope you're having a great Saturday.  It's been a really long day for me as I've been up since 5.30am as we had the village breakfasts this morning.  This is something we do on six Saturday mornings during the school holidays for everyone travelling down to Devon and Cornwall on holiday.  We've been doing this for about 45 years (not me you understand!!!  lol).  Anyway it's a great experience and raises valuable money for various village organisations.

So, when I got back I cut the grass and then did some gardening so I wouldn't feel guilty coming upstairs to my craft room later on and then we popped in to a lunch party we were invited to.  This week I've been busy making samples for our craft club evening next Wednesday and also my DT card for Addicted to CAS for next Saturday.  Then I spied the new Less is More challenge which is:

For our
ONE LAYER
challenge this week, we would like to see
NUMBERS!
Just one would do, but you may have as many as you wish!

My card is very simple and everything I've used has been from the Stampin Up "Memorable Moments" stamp set.  Now you won't believe just how many photos I took in every position in different rooms just to show that it's all been heat embossed with silver detail e/p!  I'm still not sure you can see it properly.  I started off stamping the frame and embossing it and then I used the matching Framelits Labels collection of dies just to emboss the shape around the frame.  I added the 25th and then Happy and Anniversary and everything was heat embossed.

Thanks for stopping by - hope you all have a great weekend.

The Male Room - Anything Goes

Afternoon everyone - hope you're all having a good weekend.  Very overcast and breezy here today but still warm.

There is a new challenge on the block called The Male Room which, as it says on the tin, is for men only cards.  I think most of us have trouble with cards for men - such difficult creatures eh? lol

Their first challenge is Anything Goes and as I needed to make a card celebrating my youngest nephew's 30th birthday I thought I would kill two birds with one stone.........so to speak!

This card actually didn't turn out how I envisaged at the beginning.......but that's often the case eh?  I started with the clock which is a Papertrey die, as are the hands and numbers.  Die cut from bronze mirri card with black for the numbers and hands.  I mounted it onto a scalloped circle which I sponged with DI Gathered Twigs.  The kraft card blank is Anna-Marie Designs.  The mats have been die cut using Spellbinders Grand Squares and embossed using Embossalicious Dotty A4 e/f.  The top sentiments are Clearly Besotted Shine Bright and Make a Wish sets.  The main sentiment is SU Memorable Moments die cut with SU Framelits.  I die cut his name Keir using Memory Box Large Classic Alphabet.  The metal elements are from my stash.

Whatever you're doing have a great day.  Thanks for dropping by.

Less is More - Lucky Dip - Scallops

Hello all - just a quick post today with my entry to the latest Less is More challenge which, this week, is:

As March is a month containing 5 Saturdays, once more we have a Guest Designer for our Lucky Dip Challenge!
We have chosen
SCALLOPS

I think I might have got a teeny bit carried away with my card.......but I'll let you be the judge of that!
Base is an 8" square scalloped card.  The next layer has been put through my eBosser using my Darice Lace 12" e/f and embossed top and bottom edges.  The centre panel has been punched using a Martha Stewart scallop punch.  Two lines have been embossed on this piece and cream scalloped lace added.  The centre focal point is SU Apothecary Art stamps and die cut using the matching dies - mounted on kraft card.  I've added liquid pearls to the embossed edges.

Thanks for dropping by.

Less is More Week 111 Theme

It's time for this week's challenge over at Less is More which is a theme - this is what the lovely ladies have said:

We have a theme for you this week.
Whilst keeping your card Clean and Simple we would like you to
Frame it!
Some part of your design should contain a frame of some description, it could be stamped, drawn,  doodled, die-cut or whatever your imagination dictates.

I've made two cards for the challenge.  For the first one I've used a Sheena Douglass A little Bit Sketchy stamp set called, appropriately enough, Poppy!  I've stamped in Memento and coloured using my Polychromos pencils.  I placed a nestie frame over the image and inked using DI Barn Door.  I then cut a die with the same nestie.  The sentiment, from the same stamp set, was stamped using Barn Door.  Then............I got the dreaded smudge in the right hand bottom corner - not going to tell you what I said but it wasn't nice!  So that's why the gems are there - I wasn't planning to put any on this card but you need to do what you need to do!

My second card was very quick and easy.  I die cut the window using my Cheery Lyn Window A die and added some pretty paper behind.  The sentiment is an old one by Whispers stamped in SU Tempting Turquoise as is the butterfly (SU Papillion Potpourri), which was punched with my SU matching punch.  I then added a little bit of glitter to the butterfly.

Thanks for dropping by.

Less is More - Week 74 - Lucky Dip

Hi Everyone - well this week's challenge over at Less is More is:

For our challenge we have decided to take our
"Less is More"
header as the inspiration for this challenge.

Hmmmm - well I had a thunk about this and here is what I came up with.............

I decided to CASE the blog header and started off with a Cuttlebug music embossing folder as I didn't have a stamp to do the job - instead of embossing it all I did was inked it up, put some card in and pressed down with my fingers and got the music impression.  The next layer was similar - I used a Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folder Fancy Frame - I inked it up but then put a piece of vellum in it and ran it through my Joy machine.  I then cut around the embossed frame.  The kraft card and topper were cut out with my new Stampin Up dies and the sentiment is from Stampin Up Love and Laughter set.  Now, I felt the background lacked something or other so dug out an old flourish stamp (unknown origin) and stamped that just off to the side of the music notes.  I then used the same SU die (largest one) to shape both the ends of this piece of card - I'm sure you all know how to do this now but if not then please email and I will try to explain!  I then inked the edges with DI's. All this was layered up and put on a 5x7 card base which had it's corners rounded.  I then used some lovely SU pleated ribbon and some matching pearls.

Thanks for stopping by.  I love to read all your comments and will try to pop by to repay the favour.
