A Special Day for a Very Special Person

Today we celebrate the birthday of a remarkable woman that I have known for over 2 years. She inspire and motivates me both in my life and scrapbooking. She is the backbone of the Nook for the longest time I can remember. Not only does she continuously assist the DTs at My Scrapbook Nook, she does most work in the back-end combining kits, assisting the owner, marketing and a lot of other responsibilities.

She is Leah Killian, celebrating her birthday today!

 Leah,

In your special day, I pray that you'll be continuously blessed with a loving family, true friends, good health, and more success in your career. You have touched so many lives in so many ways. God is so good for creating such a wonderful person that shares His words and inspires others.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of the Nook DT. I have never imagined that it will be my online home. Working with you in the Nook DT for the last 2 years made me feel so blessed to have a leader who I can look up too and motivates me to do my best.

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEAH!!!!

To everyone, let's all drop by at Leah's blog to greet her on her special day.

A Simple Card

Giving cards is one of the easiest way to keep in touch with families and friends. Often times, others (not us who loves this craft) just send ecards or just purchase them from a store for convenience. The good thing about making your own cards is you make the receiver feel much more important. They will feel that you dedicated a significant amount of time making the card especially for them

a card this Thursday

Getting tired of standard sized cards? Make it fun and tryout different sizes or even shapes! The fun thing about making your own cards is having the freedom to be creative.

Today, I would like to share with you a simple card that I made using the Chapter One collection. Inspired by the vine-like design, I made a vertical card with a measurement of 3.5"x7".  With this size, I was able to portray movement in my card, butterflies flying upward. Try it out!

Card: Chapter One patterned papers Motivate (P670), Paper Pad (PP843), and Coloured Rubons (RB920). Others: butterfly punches and black cardstock.

I am getting the hang of it

So I don't do cards that often but lately, I have been trying to involve myself more with cardmaking. I got most of my inspiration from My Scrapbook Nook cards activities at the forum. The card section offers a variety of challenges, techniques and ideas. The examples from the DTs, as well as the members, are beyond gorgeous. They made me want to hone my cardmaking skills.

Here is a card that I made using the Nook Feb kit. I played with layering and fussy cutting here. It has a romantic feel to it that I found perfect for an "I Love You" sentiment.

I would like to invite you all to checkout My Scrapbook Nook's CARDS section here.

Thank You Card!

'Thank you' sounds simple but these 2 words can have a serious impact and is a great way to start, grow and build relationships. Just think about how nice it felt to hear those words or receive a thank you note after doing a favor for somebody. It felt great, right? Those words encourages us and motivates us to do good to others. We love that we are being recognized even by hearing those simple words.  This is why I love making "Thank you" cards. You can use them anytime and give them to somebody to show appreciation. Here is another Thank You card that I made using leftover scraps from some layouts that I did with the Tree House Collection. The bright and bold colors of this line made everything pop.
