Mom

Happy Tuesday everyone! LG here sharing with you the first layout that I made using this month's Worth Wondering kit and add on.

I am sure some of you are wondering why I only have one layout to share despite the beauty and all the yumminess that came with the kit. Well, here in the Philippines we observe the Lenten Season very seriously and last week was Holy Week, almost all establishments and even TV stations and radio stations are closed. Unfortunately, my kit did not arrive before Holy Week and was only able to get my kit yesterday. So here we are with only one page.

Anyway, all the wait was worth it! Just opening the box is like opening a gift. I got so excited and made this layout of my mom. She is in a cruise right now and I miss her terribly.

Isn't my mom gorgeous? She is already 60 years old but she looks so young and beautiful. She inspire me so much. She is one tough woman and definitely a great mother and a good friend to me and my siblings.

With the design of this page, I did a lot of fuzzy cutting of some illustrations from the patterned papers. It was very easy to make and made me miss my love for cutting patterns. I used to buy patterned papers with images I can cut. The more intricate the images are the better. This technique is very relaxing to me.

Till next time everyone!

This Life Noted Feb and March

Living overseas gives me extra excitement since I get my kits later than most of you. So for now, I will share with you all 2 layouts that I did using leftover scraps from the February and March This Life Noted kits.

First up is the one using the February This Life Noted kit:

Here, I had so much fun layering colorful embellishments from the kit. The journaling cards were also used as if they were cutout patterned papers.

My second layout was made using the March This Life Noted kit:

I have used the kraft cardboard that came with the March kit for my background. It was a perfect compliment for the color combo that I chose.

Playtime with Lost In My Mind Kit

Hi everyone! I am here with a few layouts using Lost In My Mind kit and add on.

This time around, I decided to go with the flow and avoid over thinking what I was doing. With all the fun elements with this March kit, I had so much fun playing with it. I felt like a kid who received a bag of goodies from a party.

Isn't the photos of my little girl perfect for this kit? Her silly poses with the fun embellishments and playful design added character to the page I did. With the black cardstock that came with the kit, everything popped out.

Here I have used the white phrase rub-ons that came with last month's kit. I also used a white gel pen to draw circle doodling to add flow to my design.

For my second layout, I used my Gelatos to add vibrant colors to my design. The design is simple but with the contrast of black and the bold colors, it was a perfect combination.

Thanks for viewing!

Quick Post Wednesday

I have used watercolor paper instead of cardstock for my white background because I used more water on it. I initially painted a bunch of circles first, playing with the transparency feature of watercolors. You can achieve this by simply letting the first painted image dry before applying an overlapping image on it.

Soft and Pastel

Hi everyone! Here is a layout using Tongue Tied kits and add on.

For this layout, the watercolor is more light. I added a lot of white to make the color lighter, more on the pastel hue. After I have adhered the middle part of my design, I splattered the paint on both sides before adding the remaining scattered embellishments.

I love my watercolor

LG here with a couple of layouts using the Just Breathe  add ons.

As we have all noticed with the current scrapbook trend, layering and watercolor is a big hit. We see a lot of scrapbookers, art journal artists, or even card makers using these techniques together more often. They do not only use watercolor for their background but also they use it to blend their layering of papers, embellishments, and photos.

Let me share with you a couple of layouts that I did using these techniques:

----------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------
For this first layout, I have applied a good amount of gesso at the middle part of the cardstock to add texture and create a frame around the page. Next, I added a few pastel color of watercolor underneath the embellishment area to add a color fading look.

My 2nd layout for this kit was done similarly to make the background pattern more subtle. But here, I also used my watercolor on the photo to make it consistent with the background.

Scraptastic Club: February Feel Again Kit

LG here with a few projects using the lovely February Feel Again kit and add ons.

Here in the Philippines, international packages doesn't get delivered door to door. Rather, we should pick it up in our local post office. I have the habit of not waiting until I get home to peek into my box. You should have seen my face when I opened my Scraptastic Box in the car, my jaw dropped. It was full of yummy embellishments. I LOVE MY FEBRUARY KIT!

For my first layout, I enjoyed layering all the embellishments from the main and add on kit. This page is about my sweet Down Syndrome brother. He is one of the sweetest person I know. When we are with him, he always hugs and kisses us.

The second layout is my cute little daughter. She has the most gorgeous and true smile that melts our hearts. Here, I did a classic banner inspired style of layering.

Layouts I made during Christmas week

LG here with a few layouts to share with you using the November Colorblind kit and add on.

I am pretty sure that everyone is very busy the weekend before Christmas doing some holiday shopping, preparing for the festive meal, welcoming relatives coming from different places, and doing some gift wrapping. I am definitely doing all of those but was able to squeeze in some scrappy time with my 5 year old as a breather with this busy season.

My first layout is a quick one. No special techniques but just gluing everything together.

This type of layout is perfect if you only have a few minutes to spare to create a page. Don't over think it but make sure to use elements that goes well together. That is why working with kits is the best way to go. Everything is coordinated already and half of the work is already done for you.

For my next layout, I had more extra time to do some watercolor experimenting. Since my daughter was already painting on her table, I decided to join her and create my own background.

I used a few colors for my background blending it with lots of water. It was hard at first because it was not looking the way I wanted but once dried, the colors were subtle and well blended together.

Loving Gold

With the holidays over, I am sure we have accumulated a lot of memorable photos that we will truly treasure for a long time. What better way to keep these memories special by putting them on a layout or a mini album.

But what is the perfect theme to use as an inspiration for holiday photos? The color GOLD.

May it be a gold title, gold glitters sprinkled on the background, gold embellishments, gold star graffiti, gold paint, gold stitching, or gold trinkets - sky's the limit! Just add them to your layout or card and join this challenge.

For my layouts, I have used gold paint in two different ways. One for splattering and the other one for painting my chevron diecut.

For my first layout, I have used the October Never Tear Us Apart kit and add ons. This kit is perfect for your fall and Thanksgiving photos with all the yellow and the wood pattern embellishments. Despite not having a fall season nor Thanksgiving celebration here in the Philippines, I can use the theme of this kit as an inspiration and use everyday photos.

With all the earth tones on this gorgeous kit, the gold was the perfect touch that I need to give a glow to my page. Here, I have painted the chevron diecut with the gold paint that I bought from our local hardware store.

For my second layout, I have used November Colorblind kit and add ons. I adore this kit so much! It is very playful and fun to use with a big variety of embellishments to choose from, and eye candy colors. Gold will definitely add more pop with this kit.

I initially started adding texture to my background using white acrylic gesso paint on the bottom of a glass. Using the stamping technique, I have stamped circle texture onto my page. Then once dried, I added my photo and embellished my page with stickers, diecuts, enamel dots, buttons, thread, and the Maggie Holmes frame. My last touch was the gold splattered paint.

January Pagemap Contributor

We the Design Team of Scraptastic Club got very excited when we heard that we will be contributing for Becky's January sketches at Pagemap. I cannot remember the last time I did a layout for her so this is very thrilling.

Here was the sketch that was assigned to me:

It was a bit intimidating since I rarely add long journaling on my pages. It was definitely a challenge. Here is my take:

Here I have used some leftover scraps from the October kit. The photo was taken when my daughter just woke up on her 5th birthday.

This Life Noted Kit

Happy Friday everyone!  I have used the January This Life Noted kit and some elements from the December kit.

This might be my 2013 week 53 spread but I am way behind my weekly album. I decided to work on it backwards as I catch up. This time around, I will have to work on it as fast as I can so that I can start with my 2014 album. I decided to mainly focus on photos while adding some inserts here and there and just put the designs on it.

Week 53 (Dec. 29 to 31)

Left Page

Right Page

Unlike before, I spend so much time designing each card. This time around, I did some minimal designs to make my pacing fast. I added the journaling on my photos directly and the embellishments were concentrated on the inserts. I also turned my photos to black and white to make the colors pop since the January This Life Noted kit is composed of some fun colorful elements.

Happy Weekend!!!

Pin This! Everybody Talks kit

Happy Monday! Today I would like to share with everyone another layout that I did using Scraptastic Club's September Everybody Talks kit.

For this page, I altered the background quite a bit by applying mod podge on Japanese paper over my background patterned paper to subtle the color and the pattern. I also used gesso and yellow mists to achieve a soft colored background.

I adore this photo of my daughter. Ain't she look cute? Inspired by Pinterest format, I decided to make a negative space layout putting all the embellishments and my photo in the center.

With the gorgeous embellishments that came with the kit, I was able to design a layered look when I combined everything together.

I Love To Take Photos

Good day! Just a quick post for today of a layout that I did using photos taken from my phone.

Like any other mom who is very fond of her kid, I take photos of Hannah almost everyday. Random photos doing absolutely anything using my phone or my dslr. But like any other kid, they sometimes feel that we are taking so much photos that they tend to shy away from the camera.

Like on this layout, it took me several attempts to capture a smile from her. She first started covering her face using a cap and a huge sunglass - like a celebrity running away from paparazzi.

Here, I have used September Everybody Talks kit by Scraptastic Club. I love the color combination of the kit especially with these photos.

To achieve this look, first I have used a lot of mists and gesso to add an interesting background. I did some splattering techniques, blotting, and sprinkling. Then, using Maggie Holmes Printed Vellum Paper, I overlapped it on the middle so that I can add my big title.

I adore the huge alpha that came with this kit. It looked like it was cut using a diecut machine. By adding some buttons on the middle of the "O", it made the title work interesting.

Classy Girls Kit Layouts

Happy Monday everyone! LG here sharing with you a couple of layouts using the August Classy Girls kit.

In case you are wondering why I am still sharing some August kit layouts, I failed to share them with you when I missed to post it more than a month ago. I do have a valid reason that I am sure you will all understand. My dad had a stroke back then. He was in the ICU for more than a week due to a blood clot, high blood pressure, failing kidneys, and the stroke. Right now, he is at home recovering and still have to undergo a few tests and physical therapy.

I can't say that I missed scrapbooking during that time. Our family was very depressed because of what happened to my 59yr old dad. Thank God he is home right now. After a few weeks of stress, tears, lack of sleep, and depression, most of us got sick because our bodies cannot handle it no more. But soon as we were able to relax a bit and continue with our normal routine, I found myself scrapbooking. It was my therapy. So here you go, check out these layouts that I did

Pretty Perfect

I had so much fun making this layout! I usually use a lot of negative space when I am designing but this time around, I managed to fill 70% of the entire layout.

I used a lot of foam tapes to add depth to some of the embellishments, I even used it on my photos. I also added bits of sequins around my page because they are so cute and perfect for the design concept.

Celebrate 33

For this layout, I was inspired by pinterest the old fashion way. I used the cork patterned paper design as my main focus. By pinning a few photos and some random stickers, I was able to achieve a cork board look.
