Getting Started With Design Decisions (Prompt 1)

Good Morning! I am back, and kicking off my new series with my first page from Design Decisions. I made my first page for my Disney album from my most recent trip, about one of my favorite rides, Haunted Mansion, and used papers and stamps from my November Counterfeit kit:
And here is my layout:

I printed the song from the ride using the Project Life app (love it when I want to print my journaling- opening a word processing program on my desktop to journal while I am making a page just doesn't work with my process, but this couldn't be easier for me!). I stamped the word Haunted, the skull/book/candelabra image, and the photo corners on white cardstock, then inked them with Old Paper Distress Ink, added lots of little scraps, washi strips, gemstone stars, flair, punched Mickey, fussy cut frames, and one more stamped sentiment (it's in white and a bit hard to see in the photo, but it's in the cluster by the title).

Here's a closer look at the clusters:

If you are just now joining me, I am challenging myself to use up my stash of kits over the next month or two-you can read the details on my blog post HERE. Thanks for joining me today, I will be back soon to share another page inspired by the class!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge #3 for August 2016

This is the challenge that we were given:

Challenge #3 for August 2016 - Sounds Foreign to Me!

foreign

adjective

 UK /ˈfɒr.ən/  US /ˈfɔːr.ən/

belonging or connected to a country that is not your own:

Spain was the first foreign country she had visited.

foreign languages
In honour of our German inspiration kit, and the fact that you might have had a go at understanding the kit content list, I'd like you to be inspired by foreign words on your project.

Since I haven't ventured out of the United States as an adult (I need to remedy that!), my first thought was Epcot's World Showcase. I decided to scrap these  photos from the Norway pavilion's quick service bakery, mainly because the name of the bakery sounds so foreign.

All of the supplies for this page came from my August Counterfeit kit, and I have to say I quite love this kit, and the way my pages are coming together with it. I've made a couple more inspired by Shimelle's Project 20 class, which I will share on the 24th for our member's blog hop. Don't forget, we want to see your kits and what you are making with them, so be sure to email us at  thecounterfeitkitchallengeblog@gmail.com  and let us know that you would like to participate!

A Late Magic Monday: "Fun With Goofy"

Good evening! I almost let this Monday slip away, running errands and such, and then I realized I hadn't shared a Disney craft yet. Here is a page made with the seemingly never ending kit from April, "A Secret Garden " (what was I thinking making up 4 kits anyway?Jeez). I am about to call it on that kit and put the remaining supplies away to be doled into future kits and pages, but I'm still trying to use as much as I can. Anyway, back to my page. I took inspiration from this fun challenge from Disneyscrappers;

EPCOT Challenge

Whether you love the rides, the food, the shopping, Future World, or the World Showcase,
there is alot to see and scrap at Epcot.
This challenge is to create a layout using photos of EPCOT
For this layout you must include one or more of the following elements:

*"Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow"
*Multiple Triangles to echo the designs all over Future world
*Circles (spaceship Earth) in the form of stitched circles, punched patterned paper, confetti, enamel dots, or buttons
*Figment
*metal or metallic products
I used the wonky circles from October Afternoon, gold metallic foam Thickers word and swirl. The kit really did suit the page quite well, with the green and white flowers echoing the florals and topiaries left over from the Flower and Garden festival, the circles on the background giving a nod to both Epcot and the soccer Goofy. Now, I'm off to bed to watch the rest of tonight's broadcast of Olympic events. Have a great night!

Magic Monday...Disney Food Edition

Our favorite quick service restaurant at Disney World on our last trip was Flame Tree BBQ at Animal Kingdom, hands down. My mouth waters just thinking about the smoky smell drifting through the park! So, when I saw this challenge over at Disneyscrappers, I knew what I needed to scrap about:

Challenge #7 from the International Scrapbook Day crop, "Food, Glorious Food"We all know there is amazing dining opportunities in the Disney Parks! So this challenge is about getting you to scrap your food and restaurant photos.

Here is my Flame Tree bbq layout:

Once again, I used my April CKC kit (It was a big kit, I will be using it for a little while still!). I was happy to finally get that bird embellie on a page-I have had it since I received it in a 2Peas swap a few years ago, and loved it, put it in numerous kits, but never found quite the right page for it until now. I am happy to finally have it in my album!

A closer look:

Thanks for visiting my blog today, be sure to come back next Monday for a new edition of Magic Monday...I believe we will visit Hollywood Studios for a Star Wars Weekend layout! See ya real soon!

Magic Monday... Celebrate the Magic

For today's edition of Magic Monday, I took the challenge from Disneyscrappers
Night Magic Challenge
Nothing is as beautiful at night as a Disney Park, it just twinkles and sparkles all around you.
The lighting around the parks, the parades, and the spectacular shows. I know you have many many night time photos that you want to scrap, but it can be intimidating.
For this challenge create a layout using photos taken at night in a Disney Park or Resort.
You must add something that sparkles
And also use these 3 night time Disney colors:
PinkYellow/Gold, and Blue/Teal
This challenge was the perfect inspiration to scrap this photo from the "Celebrate The Magic" castle show the last time we were at the Magic Kingdom. I used supplies from my April CKC kit, "Secret Garden." I made the journaling card in my Project Life app, and printed it at home. The glittery blue snowflakes were the only thing that were not in the kit, but I felt that this would be the perfect opportunity to use up the package and give a little nod to Frozen.

Kill a Kit: February Stash Kit

From time to time, I like to share everything that I made with one of my Counterfeit Kits, especially when I use up alot/most of it. If you remember, this is the kit of supplies from my stash that I started with:

I finished off four layouts with yesterday's snow day:

(The last layout was a Disney layout, so of course it has a Mickey):

And, when I was all finished, this is what I was left with from my February kit:

As you can probably see, I have 2 sets of letter stickers that are basically untouched, along with the package of Dress It Up Flats, brown/cream flowers from Petaloo, and almost all of the package of wood veneer stars. But, I used up a LOT of the stash in my kit. There are no full sheets of paper left, almost all of the Glitz giant rhinestones are gone, I used several of the journaling cards, more than half of the package of chipboard hearts, a lot of the gold letter stickers are gone...my red letter stickers vanished...no idea where they went! I used the flair, the white flowers, a bunch of the wood dots, cut out some of the printable pieces and used them, and a fiew small scraps and bits from my stash were added in.

As a reminder, here is the other page that I made with this kit:

After I put the nearly unused products back in my stash, the scraps did not look like much at all, so I snapped a quick photo with my phone to show you:

Untitled

I may make a few cards or something, but we'll see. I am basically ready to move on to my March Kit! I do have one more layout from my January Kit to share with you, but maybe tomorrow. I am going to go play in the snow with my girls, since it is very rare to have 6+ inches in West TN. Ice...we get that almost every year. But I can't remember the last time we had 6 inches of snow!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge February Members Blog Hop

One of the things that I love the most about the Counterfeit Kit Challenge is the member blog hop that happens each month, where the fellow players and counterfeiters are welcome to join in and show off their kits and kit creations. It is such fun hopping around and seeing the lovely projects that everyone has been making with their stash busting kits! So, when I have the opportunity, I try my best to join in! I made it this month!

If you just got here from Gemma's blog , you are on the right track! If, not, I have a list at the bottom of the post so you can hop around to all of the other lovely blogs.
For my stop on the hop, I am playing along with my February Counterfeit kit,

And using the challenge,
Challenge #2:
Use a date stamp in an interesting way.

I know that I have plenty of date stamps that I haven't even used, so this was the perfect challenge for me! I grabbed a couple of date stamps to use with my kit:

And set to work on this page (still scrapping my Disney trip, and I will be for a long time-yay!) about the Main Street Trolley Parade at Magic Kingdom.

I know I'm a dork, but I had to rewatch it on Youtube as I scrapped the page:

Here's a closer look at my use of the date stamps-I just embraced the messiness:

Thank you for stopping by blog today, the next stop will be Virginia's Blog; and just in case you missed the others,  here is the list of everyone joining in the hop with us today:

On Icy Beauty and Thinking Warm Thoughts

Just popping by the blog today to share a few of the photos that I took this past week when we were covered with ice;

It was so treacherous, but, as you can see, it was majestic and beautiful, especially when the sun came out! It just made the ice sparkle like a thousand glittering diamonds!

Since I was pretty much tied to the house, I was able to do a little crafting, and finished up a few layouts I had worked on. I don't think I have shared this one yet:

I used Maggie Holmes' first line, along with chipboard from Crate Paper's Party Day and Color Shine mist from Heidi Swapp to scrap these photos from Epcot- we were lucky enough to arrive a couple of days after the Flower and Garden festival ended, so were treated to a veritable feast of flowers and topiarys to photograph and enjoy! Our day at Epcot was a rainy one, but the cloudy skies just made it easier to photograph everything. My sloshy wet shoes were rather uncomfortable, but I am always one to look on the bright side of things.

Today will be a good day for me, as the snow and ice has melted, the kiddos get to go to Nanny's house and church for a while, and the Daytona 500 is today! Boogity boogity boogity let's go racin', boys!

What Do You Do When It's Cold Outside?

What do you do when it looks like this outside?
(Yes that's an inch of ice on my driveway! And on everything else-my dog doesn't even want to pee on the grass a.k.a ice needles)
My front steps are a sheet of ice:
and the plants and trees are covered:

So...I stay inside! My kids sleep in...and my poor hubby has to go to work anyway! I don't watch as he slips down the driveway, and just hold my breath and pray as he drives away. He is a good driver, and he did learn to drive up in central Illinois, so he knows how to drive on snow, but it doesn't mean I don't worry!
As the kids sleep, watch tv, and just generally enjoy their day off school, I scrap our vacation photos and dream of warmer weather. Here are a few of the pages I have made in the last few days:

All of these layouts came from my January Counterfeit Kit (which I am finally very close to using up-YAY!) I will be linking up with Disneyscrappers for these 4 layouts. Thanks for stopping by-I would love for you to let me know how you spend your snow days!

Counterfeit Kit Club Challenge #3, Unexpected Titles

I am coming to you today to share my take on the CKC challenge, Challenge #3: Create an unexpected title or sentiment!

I must admit that even with the beautiful example, I struggled a bit with this challenge. I just wasn't quite certain what it meant. What is an "Unexpected Title", anyway? So, I decided to make it my own, since there are no rules in scrapbooking. I could make the challenge mean what I wanted it to mean! So I thought about it this way. What kind of title would you expect from me? Something with Thickers, probably. And on a page about Splash Mountain, you would probably expect something like a title about water, splashing, or something wet. Well, not on this one. I decided to go for unexpected all around. I cut letters for my title free hand, something I have not done yet, but I have seen Becky Novacek do it beautifully, and I have wanted to try it.
I think I like how it turned out! It was fun to do, and I'll probably try it again-I think I will try it with 6x6 pads, since I think it would be a fun technique with pattern mixing like Becky did.

Scrappy Saturday

Just posting to share another layout that I made for Shimelle's crop weekend last week! I love her sketches, and the freedom they give for interpretation! I am scrapping Disney photos (at least some of them!) while it's still fresh in my mind, and this was one of those moments that I did not want to forget! I followed a prompt for June over at Disneyscrappers, "All Spaced Out", for this page about Spaceship Earth:
A little peek at the "Hidden Mickey" on my page:

The supplies for this page came almost entirely from my June Counterfeit Kit, and I painted the DIY Thickers with silver Distress paint, which I was also going to use the chevron mask to apply to the navy patterned paper, but it bled all under the stencil, so I just smeared it all over the navy constellation paper and rubbed off the excess with a paper towel. I added all sorts of little bits of washi tape, mist droplets, stickers from the sticker book, brads, star studs, and little punched stars to cover my stamping mistakes (p.s. don't try to stamp without a stamping block unless you want a messed up stamping look!LOL!).  The journaling says: "Natalie was my little "ride buddy" for most of the rides. As we settled into our seats on Spaceship Earth, she exclaimed, "It's a time machine, Mommy!" Isn't that cool?!"
I just thought that was the cutest thing for her to say, so I had to record it!
The sketch that (sort-of) inspired this page:

CKCB Members Blog Hop

Welcome to the CKCB Members blog hop, where we all get to show off what we did this month with our Counterfeit Kit Challenge kits! This month, I pulled a fun, colorful kit together from my stash:
I had great plans and intentions to use it all month in all sorts of crafty endeavors, but I made this page of my nephew and me, using a Scrapbook Circle Sketch:

and then, my kit sat in my scrap basket mostly untouched for the rest of the month.
The sketch I used:

When I heard that Shimelle was having a crop this past weekend, I knew it would be just the boost in my creativity that I needed!

I have a huge stack of Disney photos to scrap, so I figured I would work on them for a while. I combined the CKC Tone On Tone challenge  with this fantastic sketch from Shimelle:
And I came up with this page:

I still have to journal on it, but, plan to write about meeting the princesses after midnight, and how funny Rapunzel was. I loved her interaction with the girls!

I also used a "Spaced Out" challenge from Disney Scrappers and combined it with this sketch from Shimelle's blog:

To make this page:

So, tons of scrappy fun this past weekend! What have you done with your kits? On all of my Disney pages, I am adding "Hidden Mickey's", some with a punch, some with brads or enamel dots, since my kids took an interest in finding the hidden Mickeys at the parks and hotel.

If you would like to see what the other CKCB members were up to this month, here is the list- take a few minutes, and you are sure to be inspired!
