Valentine Layout

The Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook this month is packed with Doodlebug Design's Sweet Things Collection.  You've seen a little that I have done with it already and today I am going to share a love layout about my kiddos!
I'm completely smitten with these new 12 X 12 Quote papers from Doodlebug.  Knowing that it was in the kit made it easy for me to hold off using it when I was doing my Doodlebug team stuff!  I imagine I will be using this sheet every month for some project!  It made a good base for the layout.  I added pictures down the side - although I think they'd be lovely in clusters around the flowers too. With boys, and four kids...the three clusters and girly aspect wasn't working for me!  I love the Thickers included in this kit and that I was able to use them a a monochromatic subtitle!

Hope your weekend is off to a great start!

Lift the Flap Valentines

How would you like to add a special touch to your Valentines this year?  I used the new Sweet Things Collection from Doodlebug to make some "lift the flap" style cards that will be perfect for loved ones of all ages!
For this first card I used my craft knife to cut up a part of some of the scallops on the paper.  I then tucked a small foam adhesive piece underneath to make them stand up better.  I inked the curves on them lightly with some white ink to soften the edges a bit.  I also added Lily White Glitter Sprinkles to those scallops. For the flap I cut all but the top curves of the heart.

I added the two little love bug stickers inside my flap along with a heart sticker.

So happy together was very cute on it's own but I wanted to personalize it a little more.  I decided to stick with the gray and red color scheme because I liked that it made it a little more masculine. I used the Sweet Things Fancy Frills to add a gray border as well as some Lily White Sprinkles for dimension.  I added xoxo stickers from the Ladybug Red Teensy Type Alphabet Stickers.

The flap was created once again with my craft knife and as you can see I cut nearly all of the oval open.  How sweet are these little elephants!?! And of course I had to hook their trunks together with a heart!

My last card today didn't have a sentiment on the front but instead has some cute Doodlebug flowers!  I added some dimension to those flowers by using the Sweet Things Matte Sprinkles layered on top of each other for the center of each flower.  I also outlined the oval on this one with Gray Doodle Twine and added some coordinating heart stickers.

Since there was no sentiment on the front it had to go inside the flap where I used some of the  cardstock stickers to create it.

Hope I have inspired you to think outside of the box a little bit with your Valentines this year!

Valentine's Card

Today on Practical Scrappers they are playing with one of my card sketches!  Here it is and here is my interpretation!

I went very simple!  I thought about doing a layered freestyle collage type card, but I was low on time and mojo so I just went with fussy cutting some pretty hearts from an old Valentine's line and used the always perfect SRM Stickers as my detailed touches!

Supplies Used:
Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee
Stickers: SRM Stickers
Wood: Studio Calico
Embossing Folder: Crate Paper

Imaginisce Valentine's - One for Him and One for Her

I am featured today over at Imaginisce with two Valentine's that I created!  I decided to create one for a female and one for a male!
This one started out all pink and white and I struggled long and hard to figure out how to add in some contrast!  The final touch of a red arrow was just what it needed!

This one was born from the "Perfect Vacation" line!  I jumped off from the map and just ran from there.  A fun Amy Tan rub-on completes the look!

You can check out all the detail shots on these two cards at the Imaginisce Blog!

Supplies Used:
Patterned Papers: Imaginisce
Glitter Tape: American Crafts
Cardstock: American Crafts
Rub-on: American Crafts

Echo Park Paper "Love Story" Layouts

I have had so much fun playing with the Love Story line this month.  It has vibrant, bright colors that are perfect for me!  Here's the two layouts I created and you can find hanging up at The Scrapbooking Studio in Bloomington, IL!

As you can see on both of these I had some fun with my white Signo pen again :) Love to use that thing to doodle and for these it was doodling ruffles!  This layout is of Bo and it felt a little weird to be doing so much pink on a boy layout!

I have seen a lot of people doing the double photo thing where they are layered like this.  I had two copies of this photo so I decided to give it a whirl.  It's kind of a fun, whimsical touch.  I also used my Silhouette Cameo for the "love" in the title.  I am sooooo loving my Cameo.

Supplies Used:
Ribbon: American Crafts
Twine: The Twinery
Stickers: Echo Park & SRM Stickers
Pearls: Queen & Co.
Pen: Uniball Signo
Cardstock: American Crafts
Patterned Paper: Echo Park
Brads: Echo Park

I'll be back again with more design team work for the store...I got to do a bonus round this month and can't wait to share that!

Valentine Canvas

Oh I am so so excited to share one of my most recent design team projects with you!    I had the idea in my mind to create a Valentine canvas for my kids that could have a pocket on it and I could put treats in it.  When SRM Stickers released their new Glassine Bags and The Scrapbooking Studio had them on hand...it got the wheels spinning!  This is the most fun I have ever had creating an altered project!

Do you see it?  That lovely, fun, glassine bag that I just turned into a heart!  And bonus - it is filled up with suckers!

Yum!  As you can see I also ran the glassine bag thru my Cuttlebug to emboss it.

Here's what it looks like without the suckers...so many fun goodies could fit in here!  Pixie sticks, candy sticks, fun straws, smarties...again, YUM!  And how about the gorgeous stickers from SRM Stickers and Echo Park!  The paper is from the "Love Story" line by Echo Park.  Now how about some pictures to show you how I turned a rectangle bag into a heart and still kept it usable.

First you need to fold over the bottom corners to create an angled bottom.  The angle starts about half way down the bag. The folds should be onto the backside of your bag.

This is what it looks like from the front.

The you will lightly fold it in half, don't crease it or do anything permanent. You just need this for your guideline.

Then trim the top part to look like half a heart.

Unfold and Voila!  You have a usable glassine bag that now looks like a heart.  Because I attached mine to a canvas I didn't worry about how the back looked.  If you want the back of yours to be seen you could use some cute washi tape over the folds and it would work fabulously!

Thanks for popping by to see this fun project!

Using stamps from a brand new company!

I was given the opportunity to create some projects with stamps from a brand new company, Precious Remembrance Stamps!  I did a feature over at Practical Scrappers for them and here's what I came up with!  If you like what you see head over to Practical Scrappers to find out how you can win these stamp sets!
On this layout I used the stamps to make my "Memories" and "Together" flags from the Love Stamp Set coupled with Momenta stickers and Pebbles paper.

Again I used the Together stamp from the Love Stamp Set coupled with Momenta chipboard and paper.

This time I created my entire background using the XOXOXOXO stamp from the Friend Stamp Set.  I added some great Momenta paper, chipboard, and stickers and voila!
