How to Modify Embellishments with Adhesive

Every once in a while you get an embellishment that is beautiful but not quite right for what you were looking for.  In today's case I had some embellishments that needed more black! Instead of tossing them out because they weren't what I was looking for, I modified them!

Anniversary Scrapbook Layout

How do you capture your anniversaries in your scrapbook layouts?  I always find it challenging, I don't want to use a Valentines collection necessarily but I would like something that fits our marriage.  When I got my hands on the "Faith" Collection from Simple Stories, I knew it would be perfect for our anniversary layout.  Our marriage is built on our Christian faith, so what better way to share that story!  I used it with the current sketch from Stuck?! Sketches!  Here's what the sketch looks like:

My favorite part of this sketch is the rows of strips...let's you run a little wild with color if you want to!  Here's what I created with the sketch:

I built the whole layout around the navy blue scheme as it is a big part of the collection and I'm wearing navy blue in the picture.  That was a different approach for me, but I really like the end results.  I do have a video that goes along with this layout and talks you thru the details and my design choices with fussy cutting, layering, etc.

This layout definitely inspired me to pull out more of those dark colors so I can combine them with brights.  And of course to continue to capture my husband and I in layouts.  Be sure to head on over to Stuck?! Sketches and play along with us.

String Art - Family Scrapbook Layout (Stuck?! Sketches)

 It's a fresh new week and time for a new sketch from Stuck?! Sketches! I love the simplicity of the one this month and the vertical design!  Vertical designs always catch my eyes, so I was excited to dig in. Here is is:

And here's what I came up with when I played with the sketch.  I decided to make a family scrapbook layout with a fun family selfie from a recent trip to the zoo. I used the new Faith Collection from Simple Stories to create it.

I also have a process video to go along with this one, in fact, I have two. The first takes you thru how I made the string art butterflies.

Disney Scrapbook Layouts Video Share

Hi there crafty friends!  A friend of mine recently challenged me to upload a video each day to YouTube for the month of July.  Seems daunting, but also like a good challenge and opportunity to think outside of the box!  Some of them will be worthy of a blog post on their own, others will be more simple!  Here's what I've shared the first day of July and am just now getting around to blogging! Of course it doesn't help that I accidentally erased the first video...aaaaahhhh mom brain on a holiday week ;)

Magical Memories Day 4: Giveaway & Inspiration for Disney Scrapbook Layouts

Hello crafty friends!  It's Day 4 of the Magical Memories Video Series and I hope you are finding tons of inspiration from the videos we're sharing.  I am thoroughly enjoying each and every one - so much great variety!  Today I have a collage style layout for you, inspired by the talented Melinda Spinks and her regular incorporation of collage into layouts!

This is a great way to use up a ton of odds and ends as well!  Let's dive into the video for today!

I think this might be one of my favorite videos that I have made to watch...it was so clearly coming together to make the Mickey Mouse head!  Hope you enjoyed watching it too!

It's been awhile since I did a video series and since I had a pile of Disney pictures just screaming my name, I decided why not pull together some friends and get a Disney video series together!  Plus a huge bonus, if I participate every day I will have 5 Disney Scrapbook Layouts done!
