PSC39:Anything Goes with Red, White & Blue

Happy 4th of July my friends!!! The challenge we have for you today here at The Perfect Sentiment is perfect for this wonderful holiday and it's an "Anything Goes" challenge which I think most everyone loves since you have so many creative opportunities with this type of challenge.

Here are the details for this week's challenge..."In honor of Independence Day we are letting you celebrate your freedom by choosing the occasion for your sentiment. You are also allowed to choose the type of project you would like to create. Card, Tag, ATC, Altered Art etc.". Yay...I just LOVE these types of challenges : )

Here's my project for this week...
I made a 4th of July Amercian Pride bucket. I used one of the French floral buckets left over from my wedding...great way to re-purpose an item you aren't using anymore.
I cut some star shapes out of various cardstock & paper collections using a cart from my Cricut. I then added some Americana embellis to top them off & adhered them to some skewer sticks I inked up.

Here's the backside...has to look nice from all angles right???

This was such a fun project to create. Not only is this an item I can proudly display in my home in honor of our Nation's Freedom but it's also a great way to up-cycle an item you are no longer using.

Now for some amazing inspiration from my fellow DT Members........

Made Especially For You...Distressed Ink Technique

Welcome back friends...it's Monday so that means it's time for another weekly challenge with Made Especially For You

This weeks challenge is featuring the distress ink technique..this is something I use ALL the time so I was happy to see this challenge : )

Take a look at my card....
I really like how this card turned out. I used my new Sizzix Pear embossing folder along with some trim I picked up at the CK Convention...always fun to use new scrappy goodies : )

Here's a closer look at the deep embossing on this card. I used two different Distress Inks on this card...Tim Holtz's Frayed Burlap & Forest Moss. I also used the Forest Moss on the distressed edges of the cardstock & mini paper bag.
So a little story behind the mini paper bag. This is from our local hardware store...I found them when I was with my hubby a while back. I just cut it down to the size I wanted & glued the bottom so it would make a small pocket. This held the paper flowers nicely & I topped it off with my "Hi" sentiment. Pretty cute huh?
Here's some of that yummy trim by Mon Ami Gabby.
I used more of the Distress Ink on the inside card as well. Wrapped some more of the green sheer ribbon & added another paper flower...Volia!!

Our sponsor for this weeks challenge is Whoopsi Daisy
Cute name huh? The winner will receive two sheets of stamps..what a great prize!! Be sure to stop by their webpage and check out all the fab images they have available.

The Play Date Cafe Challenge:PDCC119

Happy Saturday : )

Today I will be sharing a card I made for the PDCC119 challenge over at The Play Date Cafe. I saw this challenge thanks to The Twinery blog. I am really excited to join in on this challenge with The Play Date Cafe...it's my first one and I have a lot of fun creating this card. The challenge is Color Splash Week & the challenge was to create a card using black & white with a "splash" of hot pink. I will show you the inspiration pic in just a moment...first here's my card...
And here is the inspiration pic...........
Even though I am a purple girl...I LOVE this necklace!!!
I made the flower from some black Bazzill CS & ran it through my TH Tattered Florals die & then used a TH embossing folder. I originally had a blingin pink brad in the center but with the suggestion from my hubby...I rolled up some Pink Sorbet from The Twinery  & added some black bling...pretty cute huh?
Love how the Charcoal twine & the Pink Sorbet from The Twinery  just pop off the CS.
Yummy twine!!!!
Just simply adding some twine on the inside helps carry through the theme/design from the front.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out another scrappy creation : )

Be sure to come back tomorrow for another scrappy post....Happy Scrappin!!!

Perfect Sentiments Challenge 19: Paper-Pierced Holidays & Seasons

Welcome back for another FAB weekly challenge fromThe Perfect Sentiment . Your challenge this week is to create a card with a sentiment of a holiday or season~be sure your sentiment is on the front of the card~and the twist is to use the paper-piercing technique.

Here's my take on this week's challenge...........
I needed a break from all the pink & Valentine's Day projects I have been working on so I decided to go with the 4th of July for my holiday theme.
The paper-piercing technique is fairly simple to do. I chose to pierce the starts and border around my stamped sentiment. Here's a closer view of the stars....
I did the paper-piercing around the stars free hand by using my piercing tool. I did a trial run on an extra star to see if I liked using my Tim Holtz ruler for this but the stars were too small and kept sliding around under the ruler...lol. So I gave up on that idea and decided to just go with it and do it free hand...turned out pretty good don't you think?
I did use my TH ruler for the border around the sentiment which made this part of the piercing go by pretty quick.
I love this soft white ribbon from the Winter Sampler pack by Really Reasonable Ribbon. I'm a member of the monthly ribbon club and they send you some gorgeous ribbons & trims in a sampler pack every month...you should check it out.
Just a closer shot of the fab ribbon..I love how it looks against the paper..just pops off the stripes.

And now for the inside.......

One last look at my 4th of July paper-pierced card....

South Pacific

Happy Saturday Scrappers & Crafters. Today I will be showing you a card I just created for CFC #38 over at CAS-ual Fridays.

This is red carpet challenge that has not one but two "Oscars" up for grabs this week. Not only do entrants have a chance to win the coveted "V.I.P" button for your blog but you also will have the opportunity to be a Guest Designer with CAS-ual Fridays & become a Temp with the Girl Fridays~insert school-girl squeal~

Here is my card for this weeks challenge...
My favorite movie of all time is Gone With The Wind & I wanted to do something with that theme BUT when I was looking through my paper I spotted the GORGEOUS Tropical Travelogue paper pack collection from Graphic 45 I just knew instantly which movie theme I wanted to go with...South Pacific. This classic movie/musical is another favorite of mine and the G45 Tropical Travelogue papers go with this perfectly! See for yourself from the pic below...

I love the vintage feel of this paper...the colors are so rich and make you feel as if you really are on a tropical island in the South Pacific. I fussy cut the Toucan from another sheet in the collection & added some dimension dots on the backside so it would "pop" from the beach scene a bit. Here's a closer look..
This ribbon from May Arts is just gorgeous & goes so well with this paper collection.
They also have coordinating chipboard tags that go with the Tropical Travelogue collection. I just inked up the edges a bit in some coordinating Aqua & added some natural twine.

And now for the inside....
I like to carry the theme from the front to the inside of my cards so I just wrapped the May Arts ribbon around the front into the inside.
There are some beautiful tropical fish prints on the other side of the blue paper...I have an idea for a project with that paper but that's for another post : ) I thought by adding the blue on the inside...it would mimic the feel of the ocean from the front. I added some more of the yummy ribbon with a staple in the corner. Here's a closer shot of that....
Love it!!

And one last look at my South Pacific classic movie inspired card for the CAS-ual Fridays CFC#38 challenge...

I hope you enjoyed looking at this beautiful card & had a "mental" vacation to some tropical isle while looking at the beautiful beach scene..I know I find myself doing that every time I flip through this collection of amazing papers.

One last thing before I close this post...I have gained 4 new followers this week..YAHOO!!! I am super excited that I have more scrappy ladies that are interested in what I create & blog about. Perfect Sentiments Challenge 16: Missing A Button

Welcome back scrappers & crafters. It's Wednesday so you know what that means...it's time again for another fab challenge with The Perfect Sentiment Challenge Blog.

This week the theme is to create a card with a "missing you" sentiment (visible on the front of the card) and the twist is to use a button or buttons on your creation.

Here is my take on this weeks challenge...
Now for me this is a pretty simple and clean card. Normally I like to really add layers/embellis etc but I wanted the sentiment of "missing you" to really stand out.
I thought it would be fun to use this crossword paper from the Kaiser Craft Black & White Timeless collection and hand write my sentiment.
For a little accent I used some checked B&W ribbon on the bottom of the card. Here's a closer look at the buttons I used.....
These buttons are from my scrappy stash...just some randoms I've picked up along the way. I think the white one is kinda funky : )
To carry the look from the front to the inside I used more of the B&W ribbon and Charcoal twine from The Twinery. Here's a closer look...
And one last look at my card for this challenge....

Now for some amazing inspiration from my fellow DT members....
