Sweet Friend

Hey everyone...today I have a sweet project to share with you. It's a Valentines Day card I made but I didn't use card stock for this one...it's chipboard....

I took a chipboard heart mini album I had apart and used two of the pieces to create my card. I still have enough to create a mini or to use for other projects if I want.

This was a DT project for 3GJ so you are going to see lots of yummy Crinkle Ribbon.

I wanted to use the crinkle ribbon in another way other than tying it on or wrapping it around my card so I layered it across one edge of the heart. It adds so much texture and interest. I love how this turned out.

Such a fun card and I know just the "Sweet Friend" who'll be getting this too : )

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back for another scrappy post!

Scor-Pal & The Play Date Cafe...what a FAB combo!

Hey everyone..wow what an exciting post I have for you today : ) Scor-Pal is teaming up with The Play Date Cafe this week and I am beyond excited to "play along" this week. A few of us on the Scor-Pal DT created some projects using Scor-Pal products that went along with the color pallette at PDCC.

First let me show you what I came up with then I'll share the color story for the challenge.......

Love these colors....I was inspired right away when I saw them.

Next up are some photos of the completed project and then I'll have some photos at the end that show you how I created this mixed media wall art.

Cute flower made from some yummy 3 Girl Jam Crinkle Ribbon

I made this sparkly beauty with Scor-Tape...I'll show you how in just a moment.

Now for some photos of the creative process for this project : )

I started by painting over this metal wall art piece I picked up at a craft store.

Once the paint was dry I adhered some burlap strips using some Studio Matte Medium & Scor-Tape.

While the burlap & Matte Medium was drying I went to work on my sparkly chipboard embelishment. I used the TH Ornamental die for this. After I ran it through my Vagabond I covered the entire piece Scor-Tape...

Once you peel the backing off the Scor-Tape your left with some sticky goodness...

Next I sprinkled some chunky pink vintage glitter all over the chipboard...

I pressed it into the Scor-Tape just to make sure it was a nice even layer...

Voila!!!

The next few photos show how I made a floral embelishment with more chipboard, Scor-Tape & some yarn...

Such a fun & easy way to create your own embelishments!!  For the rest of the project I used a variety of chipboard letters, paint, die-cuts, twine & various papers.

I totally had a ball creating this mixed media wall art and I am really excited to give this to my friend...who doesn't know she's getting it..hee hee. She reads my blog so I had to bring it to work today so I could give it to her before she saw this post : )

Be sure to check out all of the other FAB projects created by my fellow Scor-Pal DT sisters & the DT from the Play Date Cafe HERE. There are some amazing prizes up for grabs and you get two...yes two weeks to come up with your creative entry for this challenge!!

Be sure to come back for another scrappy post & happy scrappin : )

Scor-Pal & DCWV Blog Week Autumn Splendor

Hi everyone...this is my DT project for the Scor-Pal & DCWV Blog Week. Today I'll be sharing some Fall themed projects I made using the new Autumn Splendor Stack from DCWV and the super handy Scor-Pal board.

When I first saw the Autumn Splendor stack I knew right away what I wanted to make, some Gratitude boxes for my family.

I made a box for each of us, starting from the left is Steve's, mine, Kaley's and Tre's. Starting the first of November, my family and I will write down one thing we are grateful for each day and put our slip of paper in our boxes. At the end of the month we will all share what we wrote.

First I chose which papers I wanted to use from the Autumn Splendor Stack and Cardstock stack. For the base of the boxes, I cut the paper 11" square, then I scored each sheet (in this case it was 4 since I made 4 boxes) at 4" on all sides.

Once I made all of my score marks, I cut the score lines on the opposing sides up to the first vertical score line.

Here you can see where I made the cuts. The next step is to measure 1" tabs on two sides.

It's not necessary to cut angles for your tabs but it does make a nicer fold on the inside when you're putting your box together. I've done it both ways and having the angles is easier I think.

Once I made all of my cuts I used some 1/4" Scor-Tape on my edges. I do want to note that I inked all of my edges before putting my boxes together. I didn't want the white core of the CS to show once the boxes were assembled.

Here you can see the difference the inking makes, on the left the white core is really noticeable and I didn't want that for this project.

I used my Scor-Tool from my Scor-Pal to burnish the Scor-Tape to the CS...this is especially important on the CS that has texture & raised glittered images as the one in the picture above.

For my box lids, I cut some coordinating CS 5" square and then scored it at 7/8" on all sides.

Instead of cutting angled tabs..this time I just made cuts up to the first score mark.

I again inked the edges of my lids before putting the box together.

Scor-Tape can be used for more than just construction purposes...here you'll see that I used it for my embellshing of the boxes as well....

I used the 1/8" tape to secure my twine to the base of the lid for Steve's box. I also used Scor-Tape for adhering all of my other ribbons, embelishments and sentiments. No need to use anything else...Scor-Tape is the best : )

Here are some close up photos of each of the boxes....

I fussy cut some of the images from the Autumn Splendor Stack to decorate the boxes.

Making these boxes was super easy when you have a Scor-Pal to use along with some FAB paper like the Autumn Splendor stack from DCWV and of course Scor-Tape to put it all together.

I have "Be Grateful Everyday" written on the family calendar that's posted on our fridge as I think it is really important to be grateful for what we all have in our lives & what a great way to not only encourage my teenagers to write something down each day but it's also a fun way to decorate for the Fall season.

I hope you enjoyed my project and that I've inspired you to create your own Fall themed decorations for your home using the Scor-Pal & DCWV products.

Happy Crafting : )
