Moments are Everything and Something Sweet by Danielle Vertigan

Each month seems to just wizz by us, and here I am again popping in with another share.

I cant believe October is nearly over and the silly season is about to begin.
The year is just going too fast.
Looking back on past photos is something I really enjoy,
so for this particular share I was inspired by a few moments captured.
These layout just came together with lots of Scrapmatts goodness so its time for a few
sneaks to kick off my first share Moments are Everything....

I Spritzed these flowers and then added a touch of shimmer.

The Lavender stalks I prepped with Gesso.
Once they where dry I ran them through the excess spray in my spritzing station.
It gave it a real Ombre look.

Using a 5x7 image I decided to cut my little man out.
It was the perfect image because the background had not much happening and wasn't in focus.

I love the circles and with this one I prepped using Black Gesso first.
I spritzed this one with some colour shimmer after.

This was the first time I used this stencil and I Loved it!!

The butterflies where prepped the same way I had the stems.

The pop of white with the blue is really effective.
Who said you cant use flowers on a boys layout.....

I used the following chipboard sets

ST9027 - A5

CB1026 Flowers 06

CB5152 Circles 02
I've cut this one up so I could work it into my page.

CB5165 Lavender 01

My next share is Lovely and Sweet.
The hearts stencil is one of my favourites in the range.
I use it alot and even use the hearts to sprinkle around the layout. It can be fiddly but is worth the effort.

The Stencil is the Perfect touch.
My favourite embellishment is the little hearts sprinkled around the page using the stencil.

I love the chain effect as it trickles down the page.
I used chalk ink direct onto the chipboard with no previous preparation.
I started with the pink then feathered the navy straight from the pad
It only needed a touch on the edges.

The Scrolls where a black chipboard.
I dabbed these roughly with a metallic pink ink. If you wanted a more dramatic colour
you could prep these with Gesso.
Its a great way to use coloured chipboard.

The bottom butterfly was a reverse colour combination of the top.

Lastly a close up of the stencilling.
You will see that I didn't keep the top lines straight starting them at different points.
Its a really fresh layout with a touch of navy that really finishes it off nicely.

I used the following Scrapmatts products
ST5036

CB1067 Flourishes 10

CB1015 Butterflies 15

CB1077 Bird Cages 03
(I used 1 cage and 1 bird)

A touch of Magic

Good Morning Crafters,
Its Danni here stopping by to share something a little magical.
I'm hoping when you see what I have for you I can be forgiven for running a day late.
Technology at times is a mystery to me...
But Scrapbooking is something I do understand and is something I can certainly navigate...
So lets get onto the fun stuff!!

I recently visited Artvo in the City.
For those of you from Melbourne its a great afternoon out.
But be ready for plenty of snaps and a little fun play!!!
I loved the image and wanted something just as magical to fit it.
So I got started using plain white cardstock and layered that onto a chipboard base.
This project gets wet so it really needs the extra re-enforcement to prevent any warping on the layout.
The supplies you will need for this
CB2009 Page Borders 08
CB6109 Lamps 11
CB4071 String Circles 07
CB4060 Ornate Frames 17
Gesso, Gel Medium and tissue paper.
I started by layering my chipboard pieces in my chosen pattern
The CB4071 String Circles I decided to keep one of the inserts to thicken the frame around my image.
I added the CB4060 Ornate frame pieces at this time.
This was then coated with a Heavy White Gesso

You can see the effects of leaving the frame combined here.
Once the Gesso was dry I then added the Gel Medium and tissue paper in sections
around my chipboard.

After this next step I then added the CB6109 Lamp and the CB2009 Page Borders
layered over the top.
Some chain was removed from the top of the page and I inserted this into my layout.
I added the paper flowers also at this time
This was all then coated with a final layer of Heavy White Gesso.
Once dry it was time to add Colour and a lot of it.
You can use any collection of colours you like and just be prepared for time
and layers.
This is all about creating the richness in the layers of colour.
Using shimmer pots and a paintbrush I added more depth to the colour to the chipboard
pieces to make them really come to life.
This was completed in stages using multiple colours.
It was also added over the tissue paper area and flowers.
The final layer was added to finish it with a touch of Gold.
The gold really pops adding another level of richness.

I'm in love with the final result...
The chipboard really pops and adds to the magic of my little fairy.

Lastly I have a card created as an invitation,
I liked creating something a little different for this one.
(Yes none of the details will make sense because I jumbled them)

It has a shabby chic feel about it and features
CB1202 Roses 02
CB6110 Ornate Frames 25

The pieces blend beautifully and I have to say the roses are quick becoming a new
favourite.

I love there detail.
The Ornate Frame pieces add beautiful old world feel.

I hope you enjoyed a peak at what I've been up to! I love to see what you have been working on and how you featured Scrapmatts Chipboard in your projects.

All things Scrapmatts by Danielle Vertigan

Hi its Danni here today,
To say things have been hectic is an understatement.
I've lost track of days and months but on the bright side I've enjoyed an
amazing trip exploring this vast country of ours and due to an
injury I just may have snuck is some scrapping as we went.

I've got a bit of a gallery for you today sharing all things Scrapmatts from some of my favourite
layouts.

A flourish can be added to just about anything and boy what a feature do they make
when they are embossed.
Here they are accompanied by the Word Tiles!
These are just one of the most effective little gems.
CB1003 Flourish 04
CB1206 Scrap Words 09

The CB5102 Window 02 was absolutely perfect to showcase this little man.
I removed the ledge and embossed the frame to welcome Beau.
CB6084 Alphabet Flags 01 I left raw and used them as my title.

Who doesn't love string Circles!!
So I've slipped in this piece for a peak.
CB5114 String Circles 01

I had a lot of fun with this one.
Its amazing what we can do with left over pieces.
Particularly when using sets we can often put pieces aside and forget about them.
There to long. not quite right.....
In this layout I have trimmed some down and separated others to wrap around my layout.
This is a great way to utilise your pieces and maximise there effect.
Here I've used
CB4069 Ornate Frames 26
CB4060 Ornate Frames 17
CB4034 Floral Design 01

I have a new favourite stencil!
ST5005
Its featured recently in 2 of my layouts and I just wanted to share how
fabulous it is.
I think the best part is how this stencil creates all the embellishment these layouts needed.

I hope you can take away some inspiration from this and us it on your next project.

Something Old is New by Danielle Vertigan

When you come full circle it can be a beautiful thing......
Every Crafters will have had that moment when you look at your project and its just not happening.
Its not coming together...
It can be both challenging and heartbreaking!
You've spent so much time on it...
Used so much product on it...
No matter which way you turn it, its not coming together?
Then the dilemma????
WHAT DO YOU DO????
ME???? I'm a hoarder. I struggle to throw anything out when I craft.
The tiniest scrap could be something???
Couldn't it?

So I started with an Arch Window Frame 07 CB4038
Its a piece of loved but to beautiful to use!!
We all know that feeling, It has to be just right.

So I opened my bag of goodies and started to flick....
Stencil, Cardstock... What do I want?
And there it was....
This background was once a source of pain.
I had stamped through a stencil. Water Coloured it.
Layered patterned paper, Applied texture paste, Spritzed it and more water colour.
It wasn't happening.
I gesso'd over the top still not happening and finally packed it away!
Its been that way a long, long time never to be thought of again.
Today I have come full circle.....

I turned it. Layered my frame on it and immediately knew what photos I wanted!
I love that with the frames it doesn't have to be all photos, the texture from the hessian is perfect.
some circles with my tape rolls as guides. Perfect, simple and easy.

Then to layer.
I think by far my favourite pieces at the moment is anything nature inspired.
Here I've used
CB5165 Lavender 01
CB5166 Leaf Spray 15
I've kept it simple with chalk ink and I couldn't be happier with the results.

The feathers add a soft touch
Today I'm working with CB5116 Feathers 01 in White mist.
I have also chosen to leave them be, they are just perfect as they are.

Don't be afraid to layer the inks and add another dimension.

My next Share is Bright, Pink and Pretty
Plus who doesn't love string circles
CB5114 String Circles 01
Here I have inked them in white and then used a silver embossing powder.

I love the confetti look of this stencil.
Its quickly becoming a favourite....
ST1028

I've also added detail by using a White gel pen over my Colour Blast Colour Paste.

These Butterflies are Gorgeous and come with a bundle on the sheet for you to play with
CB4010 Butterflies 03
I've layered the 3 sizes and coloured them using Shimmer Pots.
They look stunning and really pop off the page.

I twist of shabby, a touch of ink, some stamping and journaling...
and I think we are there!
Don't forget to stop by www.papertoleaustralia.com
for all your Scrapmatts needs you wont be disappointed!

I hope you've enjoyed a little wonder through my projects.
Id love to see what you can do with something you once rode off as hopeless?

Till next month

Hello from ME

Good Morning!!!
I'm super excited to be sharing my first post with you all.
Its been so much fun playing with these gorgeous chippies and I must
say the Stencils are awesome too......

Creating with these goodies was so easy to do!
They fit perfectly with my photos and perfectly with my projects..

My first official share with you is my Canvas created for the Scrapmatts Team
board at the show.
Its full of colour, chipboard and stencils.....

My first step was to adhere a selection of swirls from
CB4069 Ornate Frames 26
to the canvas and coated with a thin layer of Gesso.

Using Texture paste I added some circles with
ST9003-A5
Butterfly Sprinkles with
ST1028
Now comes the fun part adding lots of colour!!!
Allow it to pool and sit along the grooves of your chipboard.
Increase the intensity of the colour by adding more a step at a time and allowing to dry.

Using a selection of the following I embellished my Canvas

CB5165 Lavender 01
CB5166 Leaf Spray 15
CB6117 Assorted Words 30
CB1235 Leaf Spray 14

All the chipboards chosen from the packs where first Inked then finished with
matching embossing powder.
A few selected pieces where coated with Gesso and Stamped with StazOn.

Once the lavender pieces cooled I re inked the flower tops to adjust the colour.

Before adhering all the pieces to my canvas I randomly stamped the canvas.

Now I have a layout to share with you.
It includes my two favourite people which you will get to know well!
These gorgeous little faces are my inspiration!!!
(I'm Bias)

This one was all pleasure!!!
This timeless photo I have scrapped many times over and its still one of my favourites.
When I saw the CB4070 String Circles 06 Roses
I knew straight away exactly what I wanted to do with it.

Using Shimmer Dusts and water I created my background which I then layered with
Stamps and StazOn.
Using the residue on my brush I painted the chipboard which I've used to border my photo.

I layered this around the indentations on the rose to create another layer of depth.
I also used my chalk inks to randomly stamp with a selection of colour to add
to the rustic look.

Using a few pieces left over from CB4069 Ornate Frames26
I stamped them randomly with a selection of colours.
Some I cut along the swirl lines to spread around the page.
As you can see pictured below.

I detached the small roses from the circle to spread slightly wider creating a larger circle
CB6117 Assorted Words 30
CB6106 Assorted Words 24
I Finished off the layout pieces treating them the same way as I did the frame.
Some flowers, Typescript Stickers and a White Gel Pen
finished the layout off.

I hope you enjoyed my little journey.....
I look forward to playing with more chipboard and sharing the fun with you all.
Till next time
Happy Scrapping.....
