Finished! Beast of Nurgle!

Behold the beast! His name is..Hmm, bubbles? I'm still at the drawing board on that one but a beast of nurgle he is all the same. The word lolloping was used on the package to describe this monster and I like that. I also like teaching classes, in this case, Canada will be the last run of my monstrous creature class as I'm preparing another class to share with my fellow painting wizards. More info on that soon!

WIP Lord Maggot

I've decided not to take on any more commissions for a while. The decision was made in order to free up time for other pursuits such as teaching and recording more videos. I'm sure I'll come back to commissions at some point but it's also important not to live your life the same way day in and day out. That aside, I have a very special project as my send-off :)

I've titled it Lord Maggot, which seems fitting. I've been working on it a bit more slowly than other projects because I want it to be perfect. During the building process I kept getting new ideas and consequently having to order the right parts. What follows are some work in progress pictures of the process. Enjoy!

Finished! Magore's Fiends, In Black

Painted a month ago alongside the traditionally colored scheme. Hard to say which version I like more. But I'll leave that up to the suits in Washington. Here be minis!

WIP Cypher

The fallen badboy himself, Cypher. I like the archaic look of his armor and the gunslinger thing is also kinda rare in the 40K universe. So I wanted to capture some of that brooding anti-hero atmosphere and I also have a limited amount of time as its a mid level quality paintjob. By keeping a simple recipe I'm able to maximize the time I spent on him and just concentrate on black and red for the most part.

Enjoy!

For today's musical selection I've been enjoying some dirty rock n roll, Check out Dirty Fences

Finished! Blight Queen

The princess of pustulence herself, the Blight Queen. This project was a lot of fun, I love painting and always say that but lately I've been trying to add more edge and feeling to my models.

Thanks for staying tuned, I've been so caught up in work lately I haven't had as much time to blog. Which is the very activity that brings me work, one of them at least. Funny how that works.

Stay tuned! I have some classes to announce in the near future :)

Finished! Khorne Bloodreaver

Just a simple mini/man. This guy was the product of the private coaching I highlighted a couple posts back. I finally got around to taking proper photos of how he came out. I'm particularly proud of the skintone, I was able to pull a lot of subtleties into the highlighting by limiting the brightness and increasing saturation. Enjoy!

What have I been listening to? Swallowed

WIP Perturabo

The walking fortress himself Perturabo! It's been a challenge going the NMM route on this but it's worth the effort. This sculpt is one of my favorites Forgeworld/Gamesworkshop/whatever they call themselves have produced. It absolutely captures, in a sculpture, the artwork style of John Blanche. I can't say it any better than that. An absolute joy to bring to life.

Here's how it began.

Airbrush!

Paintbrush!

Money shot of that sweet wet pallet. I had to mix up a custom gray /blue to get it just right. Exile blue, Vallejo black and white.

Preppin and steppin, also a little preview of an upcoming project. I know it's hard to tell but the chunky components that make up the scenic base have been magnetized so Perturabo can be used in game as well. It finally dawned on me to magnetize those scenic bases after painting three Primarchs..Live and learn, slowly I guess.

Alright, Back to it! I have Empire soldiers to build and a Grolar to paint!

Finished! Archaon, the Everchosen

At long last, it's finally done and photographed. The Michael Jordan of Chaos, Archaon the Everchosen!

What a beast of a project. In the end, I went over the time I expected it to take but no big deal, it was what was needed. Stay tuned, something numerous and blue is up next! Hint: not space marines.
