TODAY bloopers

Do not say I am just aiming Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) despite evidences of their biases.

Here one from Media Corp TODAY as noted by civotarum
Stags hoping to sign Bacina

no mention of Shahdan too..

I wonder how much we can trust from this report, as again poor knowledge/basic error shown by the writer. Sasa is croatian, not macedonian
It show the high standard fans demand of all their reporting from the mainstream media as we have to remember the media ask for Singapore football to uphold high standard so we are not asking anything more than what the media ask of others.

SPH Media Bloopers

Here some bloopers as SPH reporters attempt to show off their knowledge or not

civotarum noted TNP 'good work'

cant help but feel, some reporters/columnists are just shooting off their mouth without doing any research, nor have much knowledge of the league... I guess it just shows the level of interest/passion they have for the league

just an example, leonard thomas wrote in TNP yesterday that for the second successive year, the champions of Singapore's domestic professional club competition will be decided in the final week of the campaign.

Firstly, it is still not known whether the title will be decided in the final week. As long as DPMM fails to get at least 4 points against Woodlands on Sunday and against Hougang on Wednesday, the league title is Tampines'.

Secondly, it is definitely not the second successive year, I still remember 2010, when the title was decided on the final day, Etoile was initially trailing against I think Albirex, and with Tampines leading in their game, the title was for a moment going to Tampines. But Etoile came back in the second half to win.

I cant remember 2009 (whether it could have been more than 'three' successive years), but if I am going to write a column in a newspaper, I will definitely do some research first.
And here from me pointing out they might as copy from others as they are not that good

SPH Straits Times report on fine idea. But the report had errors.

First is not going to increase total prize money by $100k. It is the champion prize money as reported by TODAY long ago

Second: Total prize money is nt $150k. It is again only the champion.

prize money (1) - $150K (2) - $75k (3) $40K (4) $35K (5) $30k (6) $25k (7) $20K (8) $15k (9) $10k (10) $5K (11) $3k

Third: give prize to top 11 not top 10.

Being the national papers as they constantly tout themselves, expect Straits Times to do better

Especially as they quoted total Prize money out and make it visible

SPH can take reports from elsewhere if they cnnt do good jobs themsleves

Afterall it is well known without reports from AFP or Reuters etc SPH will hve little reports on theuir own

TNP Blopper II (Is it really Haniff)

While TNP claimed to have Singapore football sewn into their heart and memory, I just hoped they can put in a 'bit more' effort when they are writing the real football article.

Or else, as I say before it is the blind leading the blind and no wonder they are now virtually no sport writer/reporter in the eye of many.

Such mistakes are getting common as TNP write more of their own articles (It not like the juicy article where they whack people and no need to write anything on sport) and it exposed what many say; which is local papers, ST included, is copy, edit and paste.

That is why when it is time to write their own articles, they do not know who the players are as they seldom do their own work, like what I am doing now, and relying on others work.

Here is what a Kallang roar forummer civotarum found out.

TNP fail again..

they mentioned Haniff pounced on the loose ball but shot wide with an almost empty net in the 73 minute..

Firstly, Haniff was already replaced around the 30th min, so for sure it wasnt him..

Secondly, i think that chance fell to ignatius. Haniff is probably the tallest player in the team, while ignatius is the shortest, how they manage to mix that up beats me.. i mean if you mix up syafiq with fazil or safirul, its understandable, but ignatius and haniff??

TNP blooper on Aliff (Or should I say Noor Ali)

TNP have make a major blooper as they put the photo of Noor Ali (And on front page somemore) in place of Aliff Shaffein.

I am not surprise as despite recent efforts by the paper (after all these years where I see them only when the Lions are winning) I am still not convinced if the paper had the reporters to report on local football or even local sports in general.

This is not an attack on the paper but after all those years and an incident back in 04, when I saw how even a, former, senior reporter of SPH do not even recognised Ismail Fitrey - the top scorer of Sembawang Rangers and Tampines Rovers - I wonder at times if they are the blind leading the blind.

After all, there will be people who will say they do not know who Ismail Fitrey is and that is why the paper is there for.

The English Premier League have so many 'coaches' thanks to the many reports and views on them and some can even named the top reporters/writers as they possessed good knowledge on even the secondary issues.

Yet the top reporters for our local papers (As I mentioned before) can only be named for their Singaporepools predication and the fact today we see SPH papers like Straits Times and TNP virtually 'outsourcing' their commentary/editorial writeup to overseas writers like Rob Hughes etc have left one wondering where the local reporters/writers are.

For extensive coverage of local sports, we do need reporters/writers on the ground for the commentary/editorial writeup and no matter how good Rob Hughes is, he cannot cover local sports on his commentary/editorial writeup as he does not know who Aliff or Noor is.
