I recently made this little card for a Stampin' Up! demo friend...
The base cardstock is Soft Sky, I sponged the edges and also pierced them. The next layer is Whisper White textured cardstock, then another layer of Soft Sky, then the main layer which is Whisper White. I've sponged on the clouds using the scallop punch and Soft Sky ink...see my previous post for a link to details on sponging like this.
The flower is two pieces of DSP covered chipboard from the Onboard Blossoms and Basics set, the leaves are also DSP covered chipboard (from the same set) and the stem is 1/4" certainly celery grosgrain.
That's about it!
Thanks for looking,
Sam.

It's a CASE of the baby boats...
First and foremost, credit where credit is due! This little boat is a CASE of this fabulous card by the very talented Karen Giron. As soon as I saw it, it went into my 'to be CASED folder'.
The background cardstock is So Saffron and it has been stamped with the Canvas background stamp in So Saffron Classic Ink.The next layer is Ruby Red and is mounted up on dimensionals.
The next layer is whisper white. I have sponged clouds onto this piece using Ballet Blue Classic Ink. There is an excellent tutorial for sponging clouds on Andrea Walford's blog here. The tutorial has actually been written by Sophia Landry, Andrea's sister. Thanks so much Sophia, your tutorial inspired me to try this technique, and I love it. Instead of drawing and cutting out my own clouds I used the scallop punch, as suggested by Karen.
The 'water' is Ballet Blue cardstock that I have hand torn to form waves. I have curled the wave edges using my finger, to give a more three dimensional effect. The boat is from the Nursery Necessities set and I stamped it in three colours (Ruby Red, Certainly Celery and So Saffron) on Whisper White cardstock and then cut the pieces out and pieced them together atop the waves. If I were to make this card again, I would clear emboss the boat and raise its parts on dimensionals, to help it really pop out of the water.
The sun is from the Life's a Breeze stamp set, and has been stamped in So Saffron ink, cut out and mounted up on dimensionals. I have also scribbled a bit of two-way glue onto it and sprinkled it with some razzle dazzles.
Last, but not least, the sentiment is a rub-on from the 'A Perfect Day' set. Might have to stock up on these before the end of the month :-).
Thank you for visiting today. Have a lovely day!
Sam.
PS. Did everyone see the shocking spelling error in yesterday's post title? I typed it, looked at it, and thought 'that looks really weird, but I can't think of any other way to spell it' (I spelt Basically as Basicly). The fact that I was being begged for food, food and more food at the time may have had something to do with it (my kids are on a feeding FRENZY at the moment and no amount of food seems to placate them). Anyhoo, I promptly forgot all about it, but later last night, when I went to close the open blog window, I saw it again and realised what I'd done. My apologies for being so dim.
PPS. I had another moment along these lines this morning when typing the title for this post. I was like....does the 'it is' contraction take an apostrophe, or is it the it possessive that takes it? (a lot of its (plural) in that sentence...sorry for springing this on you first thing on a Sunday morning!). I knew one did and one didn't, but couldn't for the life of me remember which one it was. I had to go look it up online....far out...what's with that eh? Must be getting old.

Dashing Christmas Trees
I just wanted to show you one of the cards we made at a workshop today:
The background cardstock is Real Red. The next layer is Old Olive textured cardstock. The next layer is Real Red and is mounted up on dimensionals. Then there is a layer of Confetti White.
The Christmas Trees are made using the Dashing DSP, and I have sponged Old Olive ink along their edges to give some depth. The 'feature' tree is mounted up on dimensionals. This tree is decorated with a star punched from Brushed Gold cardstock, and three baubles also punched from Brushed Gold carstock using a 1/4 inch circle punch. The star is mounted using dimensionals and the baubles are mounted with glue dots.
The tree trunks are Chocolate Chip cardstock that I have distressed using the tips of scissors. The 'Merry Christmas' greeting is stamped in Real Red classic ink and is from the Season of Joy stamp set.
I'll take a photo of the second card tomorrow!
Have a great weekend.
Sam.

Sydney Regionals 2008 - Swap Card
I went to Sydney on the weekend, and spent a fabulous day at the Convention Centre being WOW'ed, and swapping, and making cards, and hearing business tips and meeting up with lots of demo friends. It was great fun, and I've got lots of ideas to share with you at upcoming classes and workshops.
I managed to make some swaps last week, and this is my card:
My swap was only the card front, but I recently used this design at a workshop and we made the whole card (of course ;-), and this is the inside:
This card uses Always Artichoke and Purely Pomegranate cardstock, Holiday Harmony DSP, Purely Pomegranate satin ribbon and the Season of Joy stamp set, the latter three being available in the current Stampin' Up! Spring Mini Catalogue. I have also used gold brads, sponges and Purely Pomegranate Classic Ink, dimensionals and glue dots.
I had originally designed this card as follows:
But the opposing angles felt a bit odd, so I did not end up going with it in the end!
I hope you all had a fab-o weekend too!
Thanks for dropping by,
Sam.

A recent make n' take
Hello!
If anyone is out there still checking my blog...I am sorry there has been a bit of a hiatus. It isn't that I have not been stamping, just that I have not had a chance to photograph my creations and upload them.
The cards below were some of the make n' takes we made at a recent workshop.
The colours are Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. I have also used Spring Fling Designer Series Paper, Polka Dot and Linen background stamps, Fun and Fast Notes and Birthday Best stamp sets, Certainly Celery wide grosgrain ribbon, Whisper White and Pretty in Pink tafetta ribbon, sponges, paper piercer, gel pen, the tearing edge, Stampin' Pastels, crystal effects, dimensionals, mini glue dots and SNAIL adhesive.
We sponged the edges of the background cardstock...a bit hard to see in these photos. We used Crystal effects to highlight parts of the main image (which had been coloured using pastels). We also decorated a Whisper White envelope to coordinate with the card.
I had fun....I hope everyone else did too :-).

Colour Inspiration #15
I know I've missed the cutoff for this week's Color Inspiration on Kristina's Blog, but I'd already started it and wanted to finish it...as you do ;-).
Here are Kristina's colours:
I thought that they would be really easy to work with, but I struggled.
Here is my card:
I've used the True Friend stamp set and Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon, both of which will be available from 1st August, when the Stampin' Up! Spring Mini Catalogue goes on sale in Australia. The Close To Cocoa velvet ribbon is from the Theatre Ribbon Originals set. I've done some Paper Piercing around the edge of the Close To Cocoa layer, and I have also sponged Classic Ink on the Close To Cocoa and Really Rust layers. I've used lots of Crystal Effects on the central flower image. LOVE that stuff!!
I hope that you are having a great weekend :-).
