We celebrated Oakley's birthday a few weeks earlier than her actual birthday so Ryan could be home and because her birthday was on Thanksgiving this year. But on Thanksgiving we still got her a birthday cake and had a small celebration for her. Here she is with her "Tangled" birthday cake.
Never, I hope! We do everything we can, short of putting her on a leash or something, but then she would probably do something dangerous with that too! So this is what I come into the kitchen to find (more than once.) Mind you the bar stools are all put up on the counter, the bench is pushed far enough away so she can't climb up from there... so just how does she do this?!
Well, we think she is scaling the knobs on the drawers with her chubby little feet! However, no one has yet to see her do this, but I can't imagine of any other way. She's a climber!
On a funner note, Oakley does some pretty funny facial expressions. One that she has done for 6+ months is what we call "STOP!" She puts out one or both hands and makes a crazy little face. We finally got it on camera after lots of tries! - she does not cooperate with the camera (her little friend, Elizabeth, needs to fill her in on how that works!) She's a handful, but we love her!
So Oakley is ahead of schedule when it comes to the "terrible twos" - she's only one... but she gets into everything!!! And we don't want to forget the unbelievable temper-tantrums that are thrown at any given moment... really. She climbs on/up EVERYTHING! She is so determined to do something (ok, well everything) - especially if you tell her 'no'. It's a good thing she is so darn cute or I might just give her back, can you do that? ;)
Here are a few examples of what she did in about 5 minutes or less. It was just from one room to the next...
She was found in my bathroom emptying out my cupboard.
While I cleaned that mess up she headed for my shower, which doesn't have a door on it, so easy access for her...
I got her out of the bathroom, shut the door and walked out of my room and there she was in her and Dallon's bathroom getting in the tub.
Then she gets down and tries to get in the toilet.
Next thing I know she is in her favorite spot, the window seat. She climbs up there and plays with the blinds.
Oakley has finally decided to give up the crawling and start walking. I was afraid she was going to crawl forever! She's a little shaky, but when you have that big of a noggin (and I say that very lovingly) it's got to be hard to balance!
She is rather proud of her accomplishment and gets very angry when she falls down, we are definitely going to be paying for anger management classes for both our kids!
Here are the pictures to prove it! She's a walker! YEAH!!!
I can't believe she is already one! It's kind of sad, my baby is growing up way too fast. We had our family birthday party on saturday and had everyone over for soup and cake - it was a lot of fun!

Oakley's cakes: One for the guests and one just for her (we actually just gave her a piece, that was a big enough mess!)

It was a VTech Helicopter!
A little bit overwhelmed with everything...
Opening present from Grandma & Grandpa Miller. She got a new satin blanket!

Out of everything she got, she liked the string on the helicopter best...

Oakley eating her cake... anyway she wants too... what a MESS!!!
Oakley has been like a leaky faucet for about the last two months, so it was no surprise when these two pearly whites poked through!
Now that she has teeth maybe she will decide to eat (drink) more than just formula - I'm afraid she is a very picky eater... just like her brother! Grrrrreeat!!!
Finally Oakley is going "under the knife" and getting tubes put in! I hope she never has another ear infection again!
On Wednesday afternoon I took her in to Dr. Moesinger - who is a quirky old man... (We use to see Dr. Gordon, but he is old and getting ready to retire and doesn't do surgeries anymore, so my pediatrician recommended Dr. Moesinger - I thought he would be younger... No, in fact it wouldn't surprise me if he is older than Dr. Gordon!) Dr. Moesinger was great, very thorough and did a good job of explaining everything. He was a little concerned that she is still so little, but he said it's not good to be having a continuous ear infection either. So he sounded pretty positive that she would do fine. I'm not too concerned. We did this twice with Dallon - and he definitely was no bigger than she was the first time around.
So March 26th is the big day! Everybody cross their fingers that this works and she will be free from the ear infections! I really, really hope this works!
