For the fourth of July we went up and stayed with Ryan in Vernal! (Vernal is a pretty exciting town! LOL!)
{Ryan's job: Uintah County Public Safety Complex... aka: the county jail}Friday afternoon we met up with Ryan in Mountain View, Wyoming where he was a helping a friend with some electrical work. We had a barbecue at the Tim's house and then headed for Vernal. It was a nice break from driving, and I think Oakley especially thought so! She was NOT into all this driving. NOT AT ALL!
{Ryan & Oakley @ the parade}{Dallon & Oakley @ the parade}Saturday we got up, had some breakfast and then loaded up for the parade down main street in Vernal. This had to be thee longest parade Ryan and I had ever been to. It was a little over an hour and a half long! I couldn't believe how many people could be in a parade and still have that many people to watch it! They had some pretty fun things in the parade: 4-Wheelers & mini motorcycles that did tricks (Ryan's favorite), the high school drill team on unicycles!, fire trucks and more fire trucks and more fire trucks and did I mention there were fire trucks there?, and there were a lot of floats and a couple different horse groups (4-H, Jr. Posse, etc.). It was a good parade. The kids had fun and Dallon was happy because he got some candy.
{Oakley @ the parade}{Dallon & Ryan @ Dinosaur Park}Later that day we went for a drive and went to the Dinosaur Park from the Colorado side. Mostly it was just driving and cool scenic sites. While driving, we tried to see who could spot the next deer or antelope - Dallon just saw a lot of "black cow deer".
{Dallon @ Dinosaur Park}{Mindy & Ryan @ Dinosaur Park - Picture taken by Dallon}{Us @ Dinosaur Park}Then we went to the fireworks in Vernal, or attempted to. It was after ten and they still had not started and there was a storm moving in so we finally packed it up and headed for the Tahoe. Once we got to the Tahoe the fireworks started and so did the sprinkling of rain. It never poured, but the wind blew hard enough we were glad we were in the Tahoe to watch the fireworks! Dallon liked the fireworks so much they put him to sleep and Oakley was already asleep.
{Family @ the Vernal Fireworks}{Dallon & his new mug that his Dad bought him!}{Waiting for the fireworks to start}It was a good Fourth! Long drive for the little ones coming home, since we drove straight through - minus a quick lunch stop in Mountain View. But they had a good time.
