My very own HAND MADE....

Hello crafters..
Wishing all of you a very Happy New Year..a year filled with lots of color, creativity, good health and happiness.
I had a great holiday this year end with my Bro visiting me from London and we spent some amazing family time together! He also got me a lot of crafty stuff from there (well, actually only that!)…who wants anything else???Lol!
I am having a great time using up my new supplies and for this project I have tried a couple of new things which are my favorites and I have been wanting to do for a long time!

I have altered a worn and torn cardboard box this time…so what’s new in that?
I love textures and this time I have experimented with air drying clay and wooden block prints...(These are used for fabric printing)…

I applied a layer of clay on the lid and them stamped with wooden block…just look at the impression…I just Love it!

I wanted a metallic look to the box, so went and colored it with black acrylic colors and when it was semi wet, I rubbed in silver dust. The result is an antiqued silver look and I also embedded some Rhine stones on the clay before it dried. That saved me some glue, Lol!
For the base of the box, I modge podged some tissue paper and then gave it the same metallic treatment.
For the closure, I screwed in a eyelet screw and then created a beaded dangle for it. If you observe, I have been using blues, silver, black, turquoise and yellow only…any guess why? You have to wait until the box is open for that!
The embellishment on the lid is pretty simple but a few of my fav things again..handmade flower using my new Ariana blooms die(prize win at Craft Hoarders Anonymous),a resin butterfly, some twisted rose buds and the quote says it all.

A closer look at the butterfly…have colored it at the back with pearl blue metallic colors and on the top applied rock candy crackle paint…in the cracks applied silver mica. For the antennae, I beaded some colored glass beads on to a wire and twisted its end and voila…here she is!

Are you ready to open the box…here we go.

I love contemporary jewelry and wanted to try something with stamping and when my Bro go me this new stamp from Paper Artsy, I knew it was worth the wait! It was as if I had to make a piece of jewelry only with this…

I enjoyed every bit of stamping the image, coloring with DI, sealing it with industrial resin, adding the jewelry findings , fixing little glass bead danglers and finally stringing the organza chord! Phew that was all quite a bit of new things to me but I loved the end result, MY OWN HAND CRAFTED JEWELLERY!

I think the quote in the inside lid is just perfect for the New Year! I have stamped it and mounted it on a piece of corrugated cardboard; I love its natural texture.
That kind of wraps up my 2nd project for the year! Very very soul satisfying…the thought of re cycling and also creating something new and also with all my fav elements in there!
I would like to enter my trinket box and handmade jewelry in the following challenges…

PINK and more PINK!

Hello crafters..
I am back with everyone’s favorite theme “Anything Goes” this time at Scrapping4Fun Challenge. Hope to see you all play along there and do visit to see what the team has in store for you!
You are not going to believe what I have made this time! I have used up all the pinks in this world, Lol…am not joking! Even I couldn't believe my eyes when I was done with this project.
Are you ready…here it is!

Yes, it’s a frock shaped card which doubles up as a photo display and a cute room décor for a little girls room! Now that’s a lot in one project and would you believe me if I tell you that this was made with one big Kellog’s cereal carton!!!

Now if you  are wondering why all the pinks in the world is here…This is a commissioned piece for a client who wanted a unique gift  for her little Princess who turns 3 next month! The birthday girls loves Pink and Peppa pig which is why it is full of cute goodies that the little girl fancies!

I have used PP in all shade of pink and used worn lipstick DI for all the inking and shading on the flowers. The seam binding too is hand dyed. The frock flips open and you have totally 4 pages of display.
Each page has a photo mat (die cuts), flowers made using CLD cutie hearts and sastha daisy die, pink flat back pearls and some buttons(a cute gift from a crafty friend).

The yoke piece around the neck is a doily die from CLD and inked to match the frock…how cute is that!
I have some tags for the little girl using Joy crafts die and stamped birthday images she would love. Behind each tag there is space for journaling.
The display can be changed each day and have 4 different looks!
Another thing is the flexibility of hanging this …hang it from the cupboard, wall or just make it stand on a table…so easy!

I hope I have satisfied the little girls fancy and would love to hear your feed back too on this cutie!

I would like to link this to the following challenges…

The Creaking Door !

Hello Crafters…
How have you all been doing? It’s September already and all I can think of is my daughter’s birthday. She will be turning 5 and thinks the month September belongs to her! Every day she goes about, “ so it’s September now, when is my birthday? “ That’s an everyday conversation now…but why am I saying this to you??? Cos she just got a new pair of shoes and while she is happy her pair, I am HAPPY with the empty box!

It went straight to my craft table and this is what it became after a few hours!!!

Fall/Autumn/Flowers is the challenge in many blogs and how I love working on nature inspired challenges.
Thanks you for the lovely response to my “Speaking wall” and this time it’s the “Creaking door” for you… earlier I also had "A Glowingwindow" which won in a few challenges! I think I can build a house now, Lol!
I had the dark woods and some bright colors in mind while starting this project so I made the lid of the box into wooden log door!
The planks on the door are hand painted with acrylic colors and bid flat brush! The dry brush technique here gave a wonderful texture here and the knots on the log too are done with the tip of the brush. Wish you could see and touch the texture here. I was reminded of my “One stroke painting” days as I enjoyed making this door and some planks to go inside the box too…
Gave a lot of ornate touches to the door with a couple of corner plates colored with gold alcohol inks and the hinges are heat embossed in gold and specks of black too using TH, hardware findings die.

The wooden door knob is again painted in black and then rubbed in the inks gold to give the metallic look and added a couple of charms to a chain link and left it hanging there!

The focal point here is the center wood panel which is distressed using the “Vaseline resist” technique. I have kept it simple because there was a lot happening around it. I snipped a few curls from an otherwise big flourish which I have heat embossed and topped with glossy accents to make it look like metal.
I then hand wrote the sentiment on a piece of tracing paper with the versa mark pen and heat embossed in gold and stuck it on the panel.
Now comes the colorful part…The flowers are all handmade  and inked with D Inks using Cheery Lynn dies except for the buds which is TH tattered florals. The leaves too are mostly CL and this set is my new purchase and love those tropical leaves set ( B 119)! I had a mixed color of leaves to go with the Fall theme and stuck to yellows, pinks and purples for the flowers too!

These colors against the wooden back drop was  so visually appealing and I just couldn't stop myself from going over board! Well, I really don’t need a reason to overload my projects and this is no exception.
A few curly, twirly sprigs, sun flowers(DL 121), daisies(B310) and looooots of leaves add such warmth to the front door! I think this will make a good deco piece on the front door itself…may be will make one for that too!
And when the door creaks open… this is what you see!

Some wooden planks made with waste card board makes the shelves and stores my new collection of alcohol inks, embossing powders and there is room for MORE!!!
The sides  of the box are spray painted in black and gold where as the inside is given the same wooden log treatment. I have done some subtle stamping of flourishes using the Hero Arts stamp and Stayz On brown ink.
That’s it…did you hear the door creaking? Just let me know what you think of it. It’s always so encouraging to read all your comments and gives me a reason to visit you too!
