Mansfield Roller Mil

I don't think I have posted this before...if I did I forgot to label it. I like the old feel to this version.

I will be hit or miss with blogging for a few days.  Getting ready to get Lorelei for a few days and when she is here, some things just slip by without getting done.

Frozen....

This was taken January 11.  With all the warm days we have been having, there is probably no trace of this left.  This is the dam at the Mansfield mill....I was thinking it would probably be gone by now but think I might be wrong.  Most of the ponds we pass on the way to Sarah's still had ice on them.  And we saw geese walking on it, so it is not just a skim.

Great Blue Heron

I went fishing at Mansfield, Indiana the other evening...almost the whole time I was fishing this Great Blue Heron was up the creek at the base of the dam.  I was there for over an hour and I did not see him catch anything...and neither did I for that matter.  Finally, he flew up to this building that was just behind me about 30-40 feet.  I definitely got the feeling I was in his fishing spot, so I eased back to the Rav4, got my camera and snapped a few pics and left him in peace after a few minutes.

I like the sky in this shot more than anything, but it doesn't do it justice. However, it lives in my mind all over again when I see this photo.

Mansfield roller mill dam...

The last time we were up to Mansfield, the water was the lowest we had ever seen it. With having had some rain, and figuring they will be lowering the dam on up the way, we decided to check it out Sunday. As you can see there is plenty of water coming over the dam and it has been so high it has started washing dead trees over.
