I have no idea how long it took to get these photos...the wind just would not stop...I have photos that only a corner of the wing appears in. I never could get a good photo of the one above. Not that it is that great, it is just the best of the bunch of it.
I finally did get some pretty good ones of this Swallowtail...

Mural in Terre Haute
We were headed to see Lorelei a week or two ago, stopped at a yard sale, and as we left I noticed this mural just down the street and across the road. I could not help but wonder had it been done after the young man drowned there a few weeks back.

Dragonfly days...
These are dragonflies taken from my 'spot' at Green Valley...the same spot I took of the dragonfly shown on Sunday.
I don't know how many individual dragonflies I photographed, I do know there were at least three that I was photographing in that one spot.

Not a Tequila Sunrise.....
But it is an Indiana sunset...to be more specific it is from my usual spots at the strip pits...that silo in the top photo is actually across the state line.
I tell myself, 'Self, you don't need any more sunset/sunrise pictures!' but I just cannot resist them.

Growing wild...
These were along the bank of the strip pit at Green Valley...but I have also seen them out at the strip pits near here. I really did not realize they spread that easy....

Hey, Grandpa, what's for supper?
We swung by Green Valley on the way home from Sarah's house today...believe it or not an old strip pit area that has been turned over to the state as long as I have lived in Indiana at least. It is a public fishing area.
I chose a spot and just stood there and let the dragonflies come to me. I was about ready to leave when I notice this guy was having a mid-afternoon snack. I don't know what it was eating.
It brought that old line from Hee Haw to mind and I thought what a perfect title....
(All of these photos will enlarge a bit if clicked.)

Singing for the setting sun....
A run through the strip pit area was quite productive...this Dickcissel was singing its little heart out. They always do...it is wonderful how the birds all just seem to enjoy the fact that they are alive.
I thought I would show the original above and then show a cropped version below. And I want to remind you that by clicking on the photos, they will enlarge a bit more.

On the way home....
I made a quick run to the library this evening...I came out and realized it was going to be a gorgeous sunset. I raced to get out to where I could get a shot, and this was the result. It almost doesn't look real....

To make you feel cooler.....
This is from January of 2005....I had had my Digital Rebel camera just two or three months then. Thousands of photos later, this is still one of my favorite shots. BTW, this is not converted to B&W...it is just a reduced in size version of the original.

Bicycles on parade
I forget what little town we were coming through when we saw these bicycles. I don't know what you would call them...I just know I like them.

Take your pick
Rather than drag it out for a week, I am going to post my favorite from the strip pits that I took Friday night...
I simply cannot show just one.
So I chose three of my favorites for right now. I may show more at another time.s

Old Mill Dam
This is the dam that is near the Markle House, pictured a week or two ago. It is the scene of a tragic accident just a few days before this photo was taken. A young man, just 21 one yrs. old decided to go for a swim. He instead took a plunge over the dam, and could not swim away from the force of the water. The force of the water kept forcing him under...

Two man operation
Maybe I should call this a two man/four horse operation. At least I think there are 4 horses...seems like every time I see them working, there are four.

Froggy reflection
Notice the eyes in the reflection...kind of comical. I didn't notice till I loaded the picture here. They almost look as if someone drew them in cartoon style.

From the Old Mill dam
This was taken the at the dam the same day I took those other pics of The Markle House and the remains of the mill itself. Anyway, it is the first time I have captured a damselfly, and this makes me think of when one plane refuels another while in flight.

Mule power, instead of horse power
I love seeing the Amish at work...I don't get right in their face with my camera, but I do take photos from a distance. I know they are not supposed to like their photo taken...I don't either for that matter. But, every where I gohere where I see Amish selling things, and over in Arthur, Illinois in their shops....they sell things portraying the Amish--jigsaw puzzles with photos of Amish, calendars with Amish, etc. I am not making money from it...just showing a way of life we don't see often.

Looks like a dairy farm to me
Again two views...almost identical. But I am using both anyway.
I bet the day starts early at this farm, and that it is busy all day long. Notice the big fans at the end of the first barn on the right.

Drive-by shots for the 4th
I am scheduling this ahead of time...these shots were a happy surprise with us traveling about 55 miles an hour, and taken through the front windshield. I usually don't have good luck shoothing through it...but I really like both of them.
The barn is in the southern part of Indiana...and with it being the 4th of July, what is more American than a barn with advertisement for tobacco? One thing I want to google one of these days is barns and look for images from other countries..I wonder if they have the variety we do. I hope you and yours have a fabulous 4th of July.

Flower garden
This house sits right on the corner of a 90º turn...looks like you are going to drive right into the house. I wish now that we had stopped back a hundred ft. or so and me taken a picture of the entire scene. If I am up that way any time soon, I plan to do just that.

Along the road...
I wish I had not cut the road off there on the right, but I still like this shot. It speaks to me of busy farm life...of always something to be done, and never enough time to do it all.

Growing wild
Almost anywhere we drive around here, we see loads of these lilies. They grow along the roadside, along some fences and along some of the ditches. Still they are a beautiful flower. I think we don't appreciate them because they seem to thrive everywhere. I think if we had to pay for them...we would notice their beauty a bit more.
