Quick & Easy Bow Tutorial

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Jamie Cripps is here with a bow tutorial that's a breeze to create! You'll need just a pair of scissors, ribbon, and if using as a hair bow, a hair clip.

Cut 4 ribbon pieces about 8" long of 1-1/2" wide wired ribbon. Jamie used our red/white wired dotted ribbon.  Begin by tying a knot in the first piece.

Pull the knot tight.

Tie the second piece around the first, centering the knots.

Tie the third piece around the others, centering the knots.

Finally tie the fourth piece around the others, centering the knots. Trim the pieces so they are all similar in length, cutting a triangle in each end. Fluff the ribbon as desired.

Flip the bow over and insert your hair clip through one of the slots created from the tie.

This bow is easy to slip off and on so you can change it quickly to coordinate. Using different widths and patterns will change the look and size as well!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine Bag by Jamie

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

Jamie Cripps is back with another quick and easy tutorial on creating the perfect bow. Jamie used her bow to dress up a Valentine treat bag that's sure to please;

Jamie used our dotted red/white ribbon, which is edged with fine wire for easy manipulating. Jamie says, "Working with a wired ribbon is perfect for quick gift wrapping as the bow will remain in the shape you want it!

TUTORIAL:

1. Cut the Red|White Polka Dot Wired Ribbon to 22".
2. Tie the ribbon around the handle of the bag so that you have equal parts of the ribbon on both sides of the middle knot.
3. Tie a bow as you normally would then play with the loops to "fluff" them.
4. Fold the ribbon ends in half then trim at an angle as shown.
5. Even out the ends of the box so they lay nicely.
You can add twine or decorative cord (available in 25 colors!) to the center of your bow to add more color and interest.

Our dotted wired ribbon is high quality ribbon made in Germany. It is available in a 1 1/2" width. Click HERE to see all of the fantastic color combinations!

Playful Tags by Jill

One of Jill Foster's many talents include rubber stamping. For today's project, Jill created a set of stamped gift tags that couldn't be any cuter!

To embellish her tags with ribbon, Jill simply inserted one end of the ribbon through the hole in the tag, pulled both ends toward the top, then tied them together with a piece of twine. A self adhesive pearl adds a finishing touch;

Jill used our orange Dotted Ribbon and fuchsia Ombre Ribbon.

Creating gift tags with ribbon is a great way to use ribbon scraps! Join us all week for ribbon inspiration overload!
