Card set with Animal print ribbons by Grace Tolman

Friday, April 18, 2014

Hello Ribbon’s Unlimited Inc. friends. Today I’m sharing a card set that I had created inspired by some of the fantastic animal print trims Ribbon’s Unlimited Inc. offers.
I wanted the ribbons and its design to stand out so I opted for a plain (but texturized) background and added a few stickers just to complete the sentiment.

Instructions:
1. Gather your supplies. I started with three white card base, picked some cardstock that will coordinate well with my ribbons, a sticker sheet to match the theme, buttons, twine and an embossing folder.
2. First I cut the cardstock pieces 1/8” smaller than the card base (my card base are A2 sized which is 4 ¼ x 5 ½”) I ran all of them through my Cuttlebug with a striped background embossing folder from Darice. The striped background reminded me of the lines on a cage that we normally see in a zoo.
3. Next I adhered the cardstocks on the card bases and then matched them with the ribbons that I had.

4. I then cut a slit on the bottom fold of the card so that the ribbons can slip through it to be adhered on the inside of the card. I also tied two buttons around the trims with twine.
5. I layered some stickers, another button with twine and a sentiment on the top of the page to finish off the cards.
I kept the design of the cards pretty similar to one another which made creating this set super easy and fast.

Here’s another look at the individual cards…

So there you have it. Who says that you can’t have fun with animal prints? With these cards, you can help but get a little ‘wild’!

Happy Creating,
Grace

Ribbon Banners

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

This set of inspirational cards couldn't be easier to make! The white card base is standard A2 sized. The panels was cut to 4" x 5 1/4" so that they would nest onto the card base. The sentiments are SRM Stickers that were adhered to white cardstock and trimmed. The banner was created by folding grosgrain ribbon loops and placing behind the sentiments. Easy breezy!

Be sure to check out our huge selection of Grosgrain Ribbon!  By the way, you still have time to enter your project into the CAS-ual Fridays challenge for a chance to win a Ribbons Unlimited, Inc. Prize Package!

Friday, February 22, 2013

Ingrid Danvers created a beautiful card using a ribbon flower as her focal point. Read below to see just how easy it is to create handmade embellishments for your paper crafts! Ingrid used 7/8" Double Face Satin Ribbon in Crystalline.

INSTRUCTIONS
You'll need ribbon, needle, and thread to create this ruffled ribbon flower. Thread your needle and tie off a knot at the end. Using a running stitch, stitch close to the edge on one side of the ribbon. Pull on the thread on one side of the ribbon to ruffle. Tie both ends of the thread to create a ruffled flower. Adhere to your piece using hot glue or tacky glue. Embellish the flower center with a button or gem.

True Love

Friday, February 15, 2013

Ingrid Danvers used grosgrain ribbon, stitching, and a beautiful color scheme for a special card for her husband. Although she didn't want to use a bow on a masculine card, ribbon was a must! Love the way Ingrid tied in the top ribbon with another row of stitched ribbon toward the bottom;

Ingrid used our 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon in a soft color, Sideshow Rose. You can view all of our grosgrain choices HERE (including solid, striped, and neon!). Have a great weekend! We're back all next week with a whole lot more!

Just a note...

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Our Designer Jamie Cripps is a card making queen! Jamie assembled this sweet "just a note" card using ribbon to spice it up. Jamie says, "I used my Silhouette for the card pieces then added gray wired ribbon for dimension and interest! I love how easy the Lyon French Wired ribbon is to work with, and how it stays wherever you place it!"

Our French Wired ribbon is a dream to work with and one of our best sellers! Although it is named after Lyon, one of France's well known textile centers, it is actually made in Germany. Most of the colors have two shades of thread sewn together to give the ribbon an iridescent quality. It is bio-degradable (except for the wire) and comes in over 100 colors with available widths up to 2 3/8". Click HERE to see it all and shop!
