Bella Blvd CHA Fabric Project! Witch Dress and Hat!

I have one more project for you that I created for Bella Blvd's CHA Trade Show booth.
Bella Blvd asked me to create some fabric projects using their newest fabric collection- Too Cute To Spook.

I sent them some other items, too, but this was my favorite fabric project!

Isn't she the cutest?  I mean, really!
I wanted to make my daughter a witch dress she could wear for our annual "Witches Nite Out" event we do here in Salt Lake City, Utah.  It's tradition for hundreds of women to dress up and attend this two night event, eat treats, dance and shop.  Up to this point, it's just been my mom, aunts, sister, and friends, but this year I've got to bring the newest, cutest witch- my daughter :)

The dresses at Witches Nite Out are elaborate, with bussles and trains and trim and lights and yards and yards of fabric.  This dress is not quite as elaborate, and I actually used parts of a princess dress pattern for parts of it.  I made it long enough to touch the ground, and then I added sleeves, extra bussels, and lots and lots of extra fabric, trim and lots of tulle underneath.

The hats are what are really over-the-top.  This one is less elaborate but perfect for a first-time little girl's hat.  To make the rose I used my ruffler foot (or you could just gather a long strip of fabric) and rolled it into a rose shape and tucked the edges under.  The feathers and embellishments were hot glued rather than sewn onto the hat.

Supply List (dress):

Too Cute To Spook fabrics by Bella Blvd for Riley Blake Fabrics
3" wide black gathered lace trim
Hook & Eyes clasps for back of dress
Elastic for sleeves
Interfacing for waistband
Tulle skirt (underneath)
Ribbon (green for bodice)
Ribbon trim (orange- top of bodice- Doodlebug Design)
McCall's M6619 (used parts of the pattern)

Supply List (hat):

Too Cute To Spook fabrics by Bella Blvd for Riley Blake Fabrics
Bella Blvd Feathers: Orange
Bella Blvd Feathers: Pickle Juice
Bella Blvd Feathers: Oreo-Black
Bella Blvd Feathers: Surf N' Turf
Peltex (used instead of interfacing to make the hat stiff enough to stand on its own)
Hot glue gun (to attach bow, "rose" and feathers)
McCall's M5494 (hat only- XS size, shortened the top of the hat by 4 inches)

Thanks for visiting and spending the week with me seeing all the new CHA goodies coming out!
Hope you enjoyed my projects!

Recent Happenings- Exciting Announcements- and Cute Projects

Hi everyone!
Where have I been?  Well around here the kids are in school clear until the beginning of July, so we just started our summer break!  Can you believe it?  And it's not going to last long, so we're making the most of the little bit of time we have.  We have year-round school, and lots of the kiddos go back the end of this month!  I don't know who would call that a summer break.  I don't.

We did, however, get to celebrate a little bit of the 4th of July.  I had to work that day, being a nurse and all, but I had an amazing day at work and met some amazing kiddos and really had a fun day.  Then came home to celebrate all night with the family and the neighbors.  This was our first time buying fireworks that are allowed to leave the ground!  Utah laws changed and now we can shoot off aerial fireworks!  So cool!

Did a little bit of Independence Day crafting with my Doodlebug goodies.

Check out this flag, made of Washi Tape!

The turquoise background was done by lining up the pattern on the tape and applying in strips.  You can't even tell it's strips of tape, can you?  The stripes on the flag are also washi tape, and the blue star was die cut with blue patterned paper and then I applied a die cut Cute Cut on top.  The frame was from Wal Mart and came with the pretty white mat inside.  Super easy!

Also- Pebbles is going through a few changes.  First off- our design team coordinator, Lynn Ghahary, is stepping down from the coordinator position.  We are really going to miss her.  She has been such a sweet, dedicated, organized, supportive coordinator and I wish her the best in her next adventures.  The design team created thank you cards for her that you can see on the Pebbles blog HERE.

Here's my card.  I used one of my favorite Pebbles lines- Seen and Noted.

Pebbles is also revealing their new logo tomorrow.
If you are local, come celebrate this big event at Pebbles in My Pocket in Orem, Utah.

Pebbles is also finalizing their Design Team for 2013-2014.  I can't wait to see who the new team will be!

And lastly- I've been busy creating CHA projects for several companies and I'm finally finishing up with the last of them.  CHA is in Vegas this year and starts in a couple of weeks, and there will be tons of reveals you can see here and on all the manufacturer's blogs.  It's one of my favorite times of the year.  I love searching the internet for the latest and greatest scrapbooking and crafting trends.  I can't wait to show you what I've created for the show- one big fabric project in particular! :)
Let's just say it cost $45 to ship.  Ouch!

Stick around for more fun reveals starting next week!

Sneak Peek- Lifestyle Crafts NEW tool!!!

I'm so excited to show you what Lifestyle Crafts has coming out this spring!
They've created a new version of their die cutting tool.  It has a wider base, and features a new GENIUS magnetic cutting platform.  The platform is super long for all of their longer dies, and the dies stick to the platform via the magnet so nothing moves around when die cutting!

And another cool part??
The Genius platform is compatible with other die cutting systems including the Big Shot, Cuttlebug, Vagabond and Epic.  They also have new improved thicker cutting mats.  I'm so excited for this machine to make it's debut.

Wanna see???

Ta-daaaaa!!!
Isn't it CUTE??

You can see their announcement and other fun pics from CHA of their newest cutting dies on their blog HERE.
I love seeing CHA booths with my designs displayed!  So fun!!!
