ABC Wednesday, A for Airport

Cairns /. My granddaughter on her way to Holland.2013
Schiphol/:We are on our way to Tasmania. December 2012

Schiphol

We thank Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC, and we must thank Roger too for the weekly job to find  ten bloggers for each of the ABC Team members  to visit and to read their posts. We are beginning to find another round for all the 26 letters of the alphabet. This will be now the letter A.

As I have been travelling a lot during the past 25 years, I thought it might be appropriate to start with Airport.

Hong Kong/ Waiting for the cyclone to be over

In January 2014, I had  to wait for 36 hours in an overcrowded airport building.

The whole population of Hong Kong seemed to have taken refuge in this enormous building. Outside the storm was still raging and it was  dangerous.

Flights were cancelled due to a tornado

My grandson was so tired that he fell asleep on the floor.

I imagine that was a horrible ordeal. I'm no fan of airports or flying anymore, but once upon a time we flew everywhere when my dad was in the air force.

Yes, perfect start for this round! I find airports very exciting as it's always the start of something special or coming home with wonderful memories!

Fijne dag Wil.

Good choice, although I hate Airports and flying.
We don't do long haul now and only a short trip in the car through the channel tunnel, we have a wide choice of interesting European countries.
You must have been frightened of the storm hitting the airport, however all turned out good.
I bet you were glad to get on your way after that wait!

best wishes,
Di,
ABCW team.

A creative word (and great pictures to get the alphabet off to a good start again! That was a really long wait! One is always glad that the airlines aren't trying anything unsafe... and we know there is a reason for delays. But they still get so tiresome. And I've never had one that long. I'd be ready to fall asleep on the floor too!

I love to fly too and travel to new places. 36 hours would be a real trial, glad you triumphed. Our airport here is so easy to get around, not like a few I have been too.

I used to love flying, but not lately. Airports and airplanes so crowded, - feel like a sardine, crammed into a long narrow tin. I look for alternative ways of 'getting there'.

Love that delft blue light. The smaller the airport the better for me but I imagine for your granddaughter it was just one big adventure.

was it just two weeks ago that the radar in New Zealand airports were no working. No planes flew out. I asked what about incoming planes. They tell me, they probably let them come in.

I like how you photographed the travelator.

I have not had very many mishaps with airports, only flights. Your photos are a reminder to anyone taking a flight to consider the weather conditions. Very apt for any time of year. Well done, Wil.

You got some great action shots of airports throughout your travels. I especially enjoyed the one of your granddaughter and the one of the card playing. Blessings!

I didn't know that Hong Kong gets Tornados and I only thought just here the midwest as well as other parts of USA gets Tornados.
