11 November
This was also my world. My father was a chief engineer with the merchant navy and sailed with the allied forces during the war from the UK to the States and Australia.

Lovely tribute for Remembrance Day! Your image are wonderful. Enjoy your new week ahead!
A beautiful tribute indeed, Wil!! May we never forget all that was sacrifice for us! Have a lovely week!!
It is called Veteran's Day here but celebrated for the same reasons. It is dedicated to world peace. That so many "shall not grow old" is such a high price.
A truly lovely post for the day Wil. The wreath in the bottom picture is so lovely. When I was a child, the Veteran's groups used to sell poppies (made out of paper) as a fundraiser around this date. I don't think that happens any longer.
So beautiful Wil!
Such poignant words from Binyon's poem. A fitting post for today.
So interesting to read your personal connection the war. Beautiful photos of the poppies!
What a lovely tribute! Beautiful shots of the poppy too.
Great tribute! Unforgettable day.
An imposing structure, worthy of the occasion. We used to sell and buy poppies on Armistice Day here in the states, but no more. Wish that tradition still continued.
Wonderful post for Remembrance Day. Carver, ABC Wed. Team
Right you are, Wil. We will remember them.
Maybe we'll learn to "study war no more".

That is a lovely tribute to all those who gave their lives in the search for peace.
Thank you for sharing your life with us through the ABC introduction.
I admire you and your family.
Such a poignant post, Wil, - I often think of you spending the war years in a concentration camp and how terribly difficult it must have been for your family. Remembrance day has always been a day of great importance to Charles and I and our children.
That poppy is beautiful as is the sentiment behind Remembrance Day.
Perfect tribute!
A good post for 'R'.
Beautiful tribute and nice post for Remembrance day and letter for "R".
Thanks for sharing, Wil!
We always have a service in our "Memorial park" and then a fly-past which is really nice.

Thank you very much for this beautiful reminder, Wil. I'd forgotten about Armistice Day.
Very informative post with such great shots.
What an impressive memorial--the Glorious Dead. My father was in WWII also so its so special to us also.

A lovely tribute to Remembrance day! ♥
Beautiful post of Remembrance. I was out of town and the city I was visiting didn't seem to have any Veterans Day events going on...they might have but I missed it. Had I been home our local VFW sstill sells Poppies of paper at the grocery store and several events went on at Memorial parks, airports and parades on Main streets.
a beautiful tribute to a day. nice click.
This is a lovely post, remembering all those who've served. That poppy is amazing, I've never seen one that color!
Thanks for sharing your world and for visiting mine!
