Healing the Ancestral Lineage...

I just posted an article this week in my newsletter about healing our ancestral lineages...in case some of you missed this piece, I wanted to share it again here...enjoy :)

Yesterday I experienced a very powerful healing meditation that I wanted to share with you here, as perhaps some of you will love to guide yourselves through this healing too. Most of us at this point seem to have blockages of some kind in our family lineage that might benefit from some loving attention and release...

This meditation I enjoyed yesterday was suggested to me by a fabulous "Reiki Do Satori" practitioner here in Vilcabamba, called Elena Alekseeva. The meditation helps to clear any blockages/issues/karma in the ancestral lineage, especially through the female line. Elena gave me the outline for the meditation and I will share with you here how I experienced this healing process:

I sat outside in nature for this meditation with eyes closed and got calm, quiet, centred. I visualised myself as a baby inside my mother's womb. I then sent love, light and healing into the energetic field around that vision - I chose to use the "Ho'oponopono" prayer especially, to help clear the energy:

"Thank You, I Love You, Please Forgive Me, I'm Sorry".

I kept repeating this prayer until it felt like the energy in that connection was lighter. Then I moved backwards a generation, to visualise my mother as a baby inside the womb of my grandmother. Again, I sent love, light and healing into that energetic connection, repeating the Ho'oponopono prayer especially until it felt like something shifted...then I moved backwards another generation and so on, clearing the fields all the way back through seven generations of women.
It was a very powerful and transformative experience for me. I found the messages and energies I received from the women of the different generations very interesting - those from the pre-Victorian era for example seemed a lot more at peace with life than those who came later...
Once I had worked back through all these generations, I then visualised the clear flowing luminescent light and energy through the whole lineage, from myself stretching back through all the women who came before me...it was a very beautiful moment. (Continued below...)

on July the 26th I enjoyed:

1 quart water
2 cups greeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
2 cups greeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
a small papaya
shared meal with friends of chopped fruits, raw soup, salad, walnut pate etc
2 cups water
mug of horchata tea
1 cup water

I also chose to visualise this generational healing through my father's side of the family too, starting with him as a male, then moving backwards solely through the female line from there, again from womb to womb. This also felt very healing. screen shot 2010-07-26 at 9.39.57 pm.png
Once I had completed both lines and could visualise clear, shimmering energy paths through each side, I united both sides into one vision, with myself as the current 'end point'...there was a great sense of release and lightening...and I was also prompted to pick up pen and paper and draw two pictures to represent what I had experienced. These were given the names "The Lineage" and "The Union". Although I do not feel like I am *fabulous* at drawing at this point in my life, I will share these pictures here below, as I sense that others may enjoy these images and also receive healing benefits from the energy they carry...

screen shot 2010-07-26 at 9.38.54 pm.png

I appreciate these images and feel there is great power behind them, even if they look nothing like the shimmering, glorious versions that I see in my mind's eye ;) In fact, I was also prompted to share the message that if any of *you* do feel more gifted as visual artists and would love to re-interpret these drawings in your own style, I would LOVE to see the outcome... :)
For now, I trust that some inspiration for generational healing may have been transmitted through my sharing this story here...I wish you all the very best with your own healing journeys... :)

on July the 27th I loved:

1 quart water
3 cups greeeeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
½ a papaya
2 cups greeeeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
cucumber salad meal stuffed into nori sheets, with walnut pate on the side, followed by a mug of horchata tea with stevia :)
cup of horchata tea
2 cups water

On another note, I suddenly got a rush of emails lately asking *what* exactly we use in our daily greeeeeeen juices...I thought it might be a good idea to answer this here too, as this seems to be a Q for quite a few people...here we go:

...right now we're living in Ecuador and picking all the greens straight from our garden, so the 'ingredients' might not be so recognisable/transferable to your location, depending on where you are in the world...we use a lot of 'weeds'/wild greens for example...
Things people *usually* use in green juices include: celery, cucumber, lettuces, spinach, kales, fennel, cabbage, beetroot/carrot tops, herbs such as parsley, dill, dandelion, cilantro etc...pretty much anything green that you can find and eat ;) If I'm drinking STRAIGHT green juice, I prefer to have it with lime and ginger to flavour it a bit...here in Ecuador we use pineapple, as it is abundant, cheap and makes the juice VERY tasty ;) Most people who are starting out find green juices VERY intense, so it's best to 'cut' them with something like apple or carrot juice etc...

For 'recipe'/combo ideas you might look at a site such as http://www.goneraw.com for green juice recipes, or here are a few simple ideas:

'chocolate milk' - spinach/romaine/carrot
celery/apple/cucumber/ginger - very light and refreshing
pineapple with greens

We make green juice using a juicer...here's an example video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFnMNRl1LeA

You can also make green juice in a blender - see here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jp4SzDD5QDk

Hope this helps ;)

All love,

I first met Theresa at the massive Green Festival show in Chicago abt 4 years ago...her creations stood out for me and I bought a terracotta red hemp 'Market Skirt' from her that I've probably worn about half the time ever since and still *love* ;)
Last year Theresa then created her amazing 'Posh Pants' - with the tagline 'good luck finding bigger flares than these' ;) These hempy, stretchy, beautiful flowing leg-lovers are easily my FAVOURITE trousers these days...I have two pairs: 'merlot' and 'seaweed' colours...

She just uploaded a TON of new things to the site, including some very cool 'green tea' coloured trousers and skirts, long-length 'Comfy Skirts', gorgeous new cowl tops and more...she makes some fabulous accessories too, like these wrist/arm warmers, pictured to the left... ;)

Do you recall the *yummy* green smoothie recipes sent in by Katia in Australia a few weeks back? She shared 11 unique green smoothie recipes with us, which people have been raving about on email ever since ;) Now Madame Katia would love to also share with y'all a couple of green JUICE recipes and three raw cookie recipes too - wow, enjoy :)

Citrus Delight Green Juice

1 head celery
1 to 2 organic grapefruit
1 lemon
1 lime
1 orange (optional)
1 tablespoon fresh ginger (optional but highly recommended)
Stevia to taste

Put all ingredients through your juicer or alternatively blend everything in a high-speed blender and strain mixture through nut-mylk bag. Enjoy!

Citrus Delight II (For Adventurous Souls)

1 head celery
1 to 2 grapefruit
1 lemon and/or lime
1 to 2 cloves garlic

Put all ingredients through your juicer or alternatively blend everything in a high-speed blender and strain mixture through nut-mylk bag. Enjoy!

-------------

Banana-Lemon Choc Chip Cookies

Between 1/2 cup to 1 cup almond meal (pulp left over from making almond milk)
1 banana
Juice of half a lemon
1 to 2 tablespoons raw honey or raw agave
Raw cacoa nibs

In a high-speed blender, blend the almond meal, banana, lemon juice and raw honey/agave. Form little 'cookies' and add raw cacao nibs on top of each cookie. Dehydrate for about 20 hours.

Vanilla-Coconut Cookies

Meat of two young coconuts
One cup organic dessicated coconut
2 teaspoons raw organic vanilla powder (the one I use is the best and I purchased it from TheRawFoodWorld)
1 tablespoon organic raw honey/agave
Coconut water to blend

Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender and then form cookies with the dough. Dehydrate for about 20 hours.

Pear-Choc Cookies

For the Cookie Dough:
Between 1/2 a cup and 1 cup raw soaked almonds
2 pear
1 tablespoon raw honey/agave
1 teaspoon raw organic vanilla powder
Half a teaspoon cinnamon powder
Quarter of a teaspoon nutmeg powder

For the Chocolate Drizzles:
3 tablespoons raw organic cacao powder
2 tablespoons raw organic honey/agave
Enough purified water to mix ingredients together

Blend together the ingredients for the cookie dough in a high-speed blender. Form cookies with the mixture. Drizzle some 'chocolate sauce' on each of them, forming nice patterns. Dehydrate for about 15 hours. These are delicious.

ENJOY :)

All love and delicious dabblings,

As I write this, I’m on Day 2 of a Green Juice F(e)ast. YummmMmmMmMmmmmm...I’ve actually never f(e)asted on JUST green juice before, I think...always some carrot juice usually too, or fruits, coconuts etc – just greeeeeeeeeeeeeens for now though and WOW – what an impact it has – feels sooooo very clean and cleansing... it’s quite amazing to me to go a whole day with nothing but green things passing my lips (except water)...
Speaking of green juice, in our latest video on TheRawFoodWorld, you can meet my parents, as I deliver them some greeeeeeeeeen juice – will they like it? You can see HERE ;)

Mr. M also recently reviewed Blessings’ Kale Chips HERE.
The ‘Quite Cheesey’ kale chips are indeed ridiculously good – one of the tastiest raw food products I’ve ever tried. There’s still MASSES of kale knocking abt in the Northern Hemisphere at the moment it seems, so, if you have some kale, plus a dehydrator, you can even make your OWN kale chips :) Annmarie and Kevin Gianni demonstrate how to make Kale Chips HERE and there’s also a popular–looking recipe HERE on RawFreedomCommunity for kale chips (check out the outrageously cute picture of a puppy eating kale chips on there too ;). Plus remember that you can learn to make your own dehydrator HERE if you don’t have one ;)

A Time of Love...

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the streets, snow is glistening…well, not here in Australia actually…yet with some of you though I hope… ;) WOW…what a magical time this is…Solstice, Hanukkah, Christmas and all sorts of other yum-fests and reflections occurring worldwide simultaneously and under the loving gaze of the Full Moon in Cancer…how blessed we are :) Wherever you are and however you may be enjoying this ‘Holiday’ period, I send you bountiful wishes of joy, upliftment and peaceful unity…
Here’s a little of what astrologer Lisa Dale Miller shares about this full moon:
http://astrowisdom.com/thisfullmoon.htm

“This is the Full Moon to swim in the unbounded ocean of love that connects us with the rhythm of life and all other sentient beings.
This is that once a year when the Full Moon is posited in the astrological sign it rules, making the force of love and trust so abundant that the heart just naturally opens.
Make this a “get real and get committed” Full Moon: a Moon for setting an intention to love yourself and others even through the hard times. Cancer rules emotional healing of all kinds and this is the Full Moon to make an effort to bring love back to all your relationships; especially between family members.
This is the Full Moon to stop and really appreciate our loved ones: to fully embrace them, look deeply into their eyes and let our hearts soar in the recognition of oneness. It is also a great Full Moon to do something wonderful for the primary caregiver in your family.
Cancer’s greatest gift is the consideration of the needs of others over our own needs. To help others and relieve suffering is strengthening for everyone: to disregard others, only weakens oneself.”

Mmmmm…what a fitting end to the major moon cycles of this year :) To check out Lisa’s full account, see HERE.

On December the 23rd I had:

1 pint water
‘The Cleansing Drink’ #1
= 8oz water, 2oz apple juice, 1 tbsp liquid bentonite, 1tsp psyllium powder
Followed by 10oz water mixed with 1tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1tsp raw honey
1 pint red chicory/spinach/mizuna/all-kinds-of-greens/carrot/daikon/radish/celery/apple juice
‘The Cleansing Drink’ #2
1 pint cucumber/apple/mizuna/red chicory/celery/spinach/all-kinds-of-greens/carrot/daikon juice
‘The Cleansing Drink’ #3
1 pint beetroot/cucumber/apple/ginger juice (YUMMMMMMMM ;)
‘The Cleansing Drink’ #4
1 pint 1 pint red chicory/spinach/mizuna/all-kinds-of-greens/carrot/celery/apple juice
‘The Cleansing Drink’ #5
2 cups water

Here’s a quick question that came in a couple of days ago as a blog comment:

“When you make a green juice, Do you put it in a Vitamix and then nut milk bag? Why do people do this? It seems like the hard way to me...Please help!”
Laura

Hmmmmm…thanks for the Q, Laura…my current answer is that I do not use a Vitamix to make juice. We use a twin gear juicer – examples of which you can see HERE. When I was Juice Feasting this time last year, I did often use the Vitamix/nut milk bag combo however, as I didn’t have a good juicer on hand at that time in Costa Rica and actually also found it a lot easier and faster to use the blender anyway. Using the blender is MUCH faster in comparison to a quality, twin gear juicer – both in terms of food prep time (no need to cut veggies small to fit in juicer hole), machine use time and time spent cleaning afterwards. The downside is that using the blender/nut milk method leaves you with a less high-quality juice, which oxides faster and has often been mixed with a little water. HOWEVER, many people are still happy to choose the blender option, when the time/cleaning benefits are considered. Now, in comparison to the speed of using, for example a Breville Juice Fountain of course, the blender/nut-milk bag method may seem clumsy and pointless. The amount of liquid you actually get out of the produce when using something like a Juice Fountain though is less than using a twin gear OR the blender method, if you’re thoroughly squeezing the contents of the nut milk bag that is ;) Personally, I prefer to always use a nut milk bag to double-strain juice anyway, even if it’s from a twin gear, as there is always SOME pulp left in the juice and I want it as obstruction-free as possible… Hope that all made some sense – there are advantages and pitfalls to all the methods described – it just depends what suits your lifestyle and choices best… ;)

On December the 24th I had:

1 pint water
‘The Cleansing Drink’ #1
= 8oz water, 2oz apple juice, 1 tbsp liquid bentonite, 1tsp psyllium powder
Followed by 10oz water mixed with 1tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1tsp raw honey

‘The Cleansing Drink’ #3
1 pint tatsoi/bok choy/cilantro/cucumber/apple juice
‘The Cleansing Drink’ #4
1 pint tatsoi/bok choy/cilantro/cucumber/apple/orange juice
‘The Cleansing Drink’ #5
2 cups water

So, today has been the 7th and final day of my Psyllium-Bentonite Cleanse. It’s been a great experience overall. I’ve released a LOT of old dark nasty stuff from my intestines and my energy has been pretty good throughout. Compared to my energy levels when I first did a cleanse like this, abt 4 years ago, my energy levels this time were superb ;) Back then I was almost incapacitated – I spent most of the week in bed. I’d only been raw for about a year at that point – and abt 70% raw, not fully raw like I am now, PLUS, I’d never done any colon cleansing at that point, so it was all very new to me. This time round I’ve been very functional in comparison ;)
I’m definitely excited to get back to eating solids tomorrow though and not be doing full-on enemas twice a day ;) Very different to the end of my Juice Feast back in February – as you may recall, I was not at all excited to get back to solid foods back then. Watermelons are just looking so appealing to me to EAT now though :) Tomorrow is Christmas Day here and I intend to celebrate my Christmas gift to myself of a freshly cleaned out system by gently mono-mealing on melon :) YUMMMMMMMMMM… Would I do a cleanse like this again? Yep...not for a good few years again though, if at all - it's a pretty hardcore process...

If YOU want to enjoy a cleanse soon, after the usual ravages of this season, do take a look at what Steve at Raw Vegan Radio is up to – he’s hosting the ‘Biggest Group Cleanse, EVER’, starting on January the 7th for 21 days, with tons of online support through e-books, podcasts, webinars and more…you can see all about it HERE. (Worth taking a look, if only to see Steve’s before and after pics – WOW – I’ve never seen his 'before' shot before – pretty impressive transformation… :)

Blissful Holidays to All :)

Top 15 Reasons Why Squirrels (and other animals) Must Think We’re Nuts...

I am SO excited to share with you an article I recently came across… I think this is one of the most wonderful things I’ve read in recent years – I love it. The title is ‘Top 15 Reasons Why Squirrels (and other animals) Must Think We’re Nuts’ and it’s by an ‘eco’ writer called Gavin Hudson. This article is SO in alignment with the way I see the world…and it’s well-written, funny and intelligent…wonderful. I loved it so much that I asked the writer if I could add it to the RawReform site…he agreed and so…well, I’ll let you just go and read it for yourself – it’s HERE: http://www.rawreform.com/content/view/344/127/

On October the 25th I had:

1 quart water
1 quart alfalfa/beet/carrot/celery/ginger/arugula/dill juice
little bowl of sea spaghetti with hemp seed butter
3 cups water
bowl of blended bananas with maca, lucuma, cinnamon, ground almonds, ground flax seed and swirled with mulberries
1 cup water
1 quart carrot/celery/arugula/dill/apple juice
1lb longans
1 quart water

Tee-hee – I’m delighted to hear how many of you have been making and enjoying the Monarch banana bread & cream cheese recipe already…and for all of those who emailed to ask if the ‘bread’ gets dehydrated before eating…well, we’ve never done that – we just shape it into smthg and eat it immediately – I’m sure it would be great dehydrated too…also, Mr Monarch recommended that I tell you that he actually prefers the version I recently made using the ingredients we had on hand here – I used chopped brazil nuts and diced prunes instead of walnuts and raisins and I also added in some lucuma powder for shortbready yumminess… ;)

on October the 26th I had:

1 quart water
1 quart alfalfa/sunflower greens/dill/arugula/apple/carrot/celery/ginger juice
little bowl of hemp seed/flax oil/salt with nori, dulse and pumpkin seed butter
1 pint water
bowl of durian blended with banana, cinnamon and maca, swirled with mulberries
1.5 quarts water

Alright, so some of you have been writing, asking what I mean when I write ‘green juice’ and also mentioning that you find it challenging to make green combos that you enjoy…you may have noticed I’ve been doing my best the last few days to remember and write out the ingredients for each juice I have now – I used to do that of course while Juice Feasting – these days it all seems like a bit of a liquid blur though – so many juices in my life… ;) I’ll endeavour to list them from now on…in the meantime, my book ‘A Juice Feaster’s Handbook’ of course contains many different juice combos you might enjoy – you can see that HERE.
And here are three of my favourite tasty green combos:

'chocolate milk' - spinach/romaine/carrot celery/apple/cucumber/ginger - very light and refreshing pineapple with greens (e.g. spinach, lettuce, mint)

Enjoy ;)
All blessings,
Angela. xxx
