THANKS For all You Do!

Good Morning! Kim here, on this last day of April 2020! Despite the uncertainty that has been our past month, this I know for sure; it’s tulip season and Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Today’s card share could be used for your Mom or a Thank You in general.

This card uses a simple watercolour technique that should be on everyone’s ‘to try at least once’ list. If you have never tried it, let me show you a quick step by step. I have used the Quietfire Design Tulips stamp for my focus image.

1- Use water based markers like Tombow, Stampin’ Up or Ranger’s Distress markers. I have used two colours of green, a pink and a light purple.

2- Colour your stamp, not worrying too much if your colours overlap a bit, I often add in order of light to dark.

3- Gently mist your coloured stamp with water. This reactivates the ink and will allow for the watercolour effect.

4- Carefully stamp your image onto watercolour paper, using other types of paper will produce slightly different results, not quite as soft as watercolour paper.

When you lift up the stamp, the magic is revealed!

My sentiments both come from the Quietfire Design Thanks Cuddlers set. I used the watercolour technique using just one colour on ‘for all you do’.

For a little extra fun I embossed the word stamp ‘THANKS’ using Armenian Pink Modern Gilding Powder.

Check out that colour and shine! Armenian Pink makes my knees week, it is absolutely GORGEOUS!

Hope this technique finds it’s way to a card near you!

Special Hugs For You

Today I have a friendship card created using a combination of the A Way With Words die sets and a rubber stamp.  This is Selma Stevenson and I love the way we can combine our die sets and or stamp sets to create a variety of sentiments.   Do you mix and match your dies to come up with fun sentiments?

I used four different A Way With Words die sets along with one stamp from a set of five.

Special Moments - Metal Cutting Dies

Use the Special die from this A Way With Words die set.

Sending Hugs Kisses - Metal Cutting Dies

Use the A Way With Words Sending Hugs Kisses die set to die cut the sentiment Hugs.

.
Forever - Metal Cutting Die

Use this A Way With Words die set to die cut the Forever sentiment.  Since only the word FOR is needed, carefully trim off the ever and flourishes along the bottom, with scissors, as shown on the card.

Wishing You A - Metal Cutting Dies

Use the A Way With Words Wishing You A die set to die cut the you

Thanks Cuddlers, Set of 7 Stamps - Mounted

Use the Thanks Cuddler Set of 7 stamp set and use the for being my friend stamp to white emboss under the white die cut sentiments.

The die cut on the lower left of the card is the Lovebirds die from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  Small flowers from the CountryScapes Clematis-Ivy set was die cut and attached to the branches.

I hope you have fun looking for new sentiments you can create by combining dies from different sets.

Thanks For Being My Friend

Maybe you have thank you notes you need to send out or maybe you need a Valentine for a friend.  It is always nice to let your friends know you value their friendship.

You can always create beautiful cards when you use the Quietfire Design dies and rubber stamps.  This is Selma Stevenson today and I used a combination of the A Way With Words dies and one of the stamps from the Thanks Cuddlers stamp set.

This is a 6 inch square card.   A white panel, slightly smaller than the card front was cut and embossed with dots.  It was scored around the edges to give that piece a finished look.

Thanks - Metal Cutting Die

A Stitched Heart was die cut out of textured pink card stock and attached to the center of the card.  The A Way With Words - Thanks was die cut four times and each die cut stacked/glued to create dimension.  It was glued to the center of the heart as shown.

Thanks Cuddlers, Set of 7 Stamps - Mounted

On a piece of Vellum card stock, the "for being my friend" was stamped with VersaMark and white embossed.  The ends of the Vellum were cut into "fishtails", then a glue dot was used to attach it to the card.  White sticky back pearls were attached over the glue dots.

Three small roses were created using Garden Notes Rose 2 dies.  They were attached to the upper left side of the die cut heart.  A few small pearls were added around the bottom of the arrangement.

Don't forget to thank that special friend!

Merci - Danke - Thanks Cuddlers - Easel Pear

Yogi here today with an easel thanks card. I figure since my Xmas cards are all done, envelopes created and mailed it was time to make some thank you cards that will be needed soon...

I'm using a couple A Way With Words dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs "Merci" and "Danke" also available on Quietfire Design HERE and HERE

I'm also using a sentiment stamp set from Quietfire Design "Thanks - Cuddlers" 7pce set

Click on any card image to enlarge. Enjoy

Scored, and folded my dark green textured cardstock to create the easel.

Created the watercolor pear (Penny Black) using my Misti and Distress mini pads, misting with water and stamping on 90#HP Arches watercolor paper.. Repeating the process till I got the intensity of color I wanted, then used a moist paint brush to move some of the color. Used a Derwent watercolor pencil for the background blue color, then moved it with a very wet brush. Dried, then splattered with some brownish color. Die cut with Elizabeth Craft Designs "Stitched Ovals" set. Created a larger oval of the die and cut with my electronic cutter. Colored with a red Distress pad, adhered both layers together then onto the front.

Die cut the "Merci" from a burgundy colored cardstock (Dreamweaver packaging material...) Adhered to front. Used a Quickie Glue pen and added decorative line detail, then sprinkled with Ritz micro fine glitter "Regal Red".
On the Floor: Die cut the "Danke" from a green and a white cardstock. Inked the green one with Versamark and embossed with Emerald Creek "Yuletide" embossing powder. Adhered off set to the white layer. Adhered it by the bottom edge to a narrow piece of the green cardstock, scored down the center and adhered one edge tot he floor to act as my stopper.

Wrote in the words "Any way you say it" with a pointed pen and my diluted Copic White Opaque ink in my funky monoline style.

Stamped the sentiment on white cardstock using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossing. Die cut with Spellbinders oval die set, sponged edges with a dirty green sponge and adhered to floor with 3D foam tape.

As a final touch, added a row of pale green gems (Dollorama) around the oval and a dark green/gold Sari bow.

For Your Thoughtfulness, Thanks!!

Hello!!  It's Wanda here today.  I hope you had a good weekend and your week goes great!!!  On today's card I've used a die, a stamp, and a napkin for the background.  I've also used part of the packaging (the pink, glittery, thin cardboard) from a gift I received from one of the little girls I watch in the nursery at church on Sunday mornings.  This thank you card is for her.

Let's get started!!

1. Cut white cardstock 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".  Separate the layers of the napkin so you only have the top, printed layer and cut out the area you want to use a little larger than the cardstock. Brush Fluid Matte Medium over cardstock, lay napkin carefully over medium, brush medium over napkin and leave to dry.  Once dry, trim off extra napkin from edges.

2. Sponge Snow Cap over lower area of napkin panel where the die cut will be, dry.  Ink edges of panel with Vintage Photo, dry.  Sponge Tea Dye over white ink, dry.  Stamp "for your thoughtfulness" with Jet Black Ink.  Brush Wink of Stella on edges.

3.  Die cut Thanks from the pink, glittery packaging material and from a Silver Deco Sheet. Use Gel Medium to glue the pink thanks to the silver thanks.  Peel off liner from the silver thanks and stick to panel.  Add black along the die cut with pen.

4. Cut white cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".  Fold to make a card 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  Attach panel to card.

I hope you like this card and that you inspired to create something!!!

~ Wanda

Thank You For Being My Friend

Good Morning, this is Selma today.  You can always create a beautiful card when you use the Quietfire Design stamps and A Way With Words dies.  Today I designed a card to thank someone for being my friend.

On the front of the card I used the new, A Way With Words "Thank You" dies for the gorgeous sentiment, which was placed in a frame created with Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Frames.  On the side of the stitched frame, I added a doily die cut  from the ECD Paris Edges and a Susan's Garden Notes Hyacinthe.  Lavender, flat back pearls were added on the corners.

On the inside of the card, I used two Quietfire Design stamp sets.

Floral Thank You - Set of 4 Stamps - Mounted

The "Thank You" oval, from the Floral Thank You set, was stamped using VersaFine Ink, then die cut using one of the ECD Stitched Oval dies.  It was backed with another ECD Fitted Frames Curvy Oval die cut using purple card stock.

In the center of the Thank You oval, I used the "for being my friend, stamp from the Thanks Cuddlers set.

I know you will love being able to use the A Way With Words die cuts along with the Quietfire stamps

Do you have someone that you need to thank for being a special friend?

Thanks Cuddlers/Friends, Wine is sunlight - Guest Designer Kim Goudy

Hello! Kim Gowdy here again with a second, Guest Designer post for Quietfire Designs. It’s always fun creating with new products, especially when it’s from a company you already LOVE!

A couple weeks back I designed a project using the “WINE IS SUNLIGHT” stamp set.
I created a tag that I wasn’t quite sure how I would use.

I decided to use it for my current project as a scrapbooking embellishment!

This project was so fun and simple to put together! I used Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine’s November Sketchy Challenge as a starting point for my project!

After choosing my supplies, I chose to use the Quietfire Design “Thanks Cuddlers” to stamp Colorbox Frost White pigment ink over the black background paper.

I used the Elizabeth Craft Design “Friends” die; designed by Suzanne Cannon of Quietfire Design to create my title. I cut it out three times and layered them to add a bit more dimension to the title.

I wanted to include both larger pictures on my layout, so I used some washi tape to join them, creating an extra spot for journaling and means to adding another picture without affecting the layout design.

I hope these projects have inspired you to create with Quietfire Design's amazing stamps and dies! Thanks Suzanne for inviting me to play on your blog this month!

Thanks for all you do

Hello!!!  It's Wanda here today to share a couple of cards.

This is a really quick card and you can change the feel just by using different stencils and colors so if you need some thank you cards during the busy holiday season, these would work great!!!

I went with bright fall colors and a leaf on this card.  I taped the stencil (TCW) to soft finish cardstock (Elizabeth Craft Designs) with removable tape putting extra tape anywhere I was concerned that I might get ink on the cardstock where I didn't want it, applied Distress Inks (mowed lawn, carved pumpkin, barn door, picked raspberry) with a mini ink blending tool, dried it, stamped the words (Thanks Cuddlers Set) with Archival Ink jet black, dried them, and roughed up the edges using a Distress tool.  For the next layer I used a piece of soft finish cardstock, embossed it using the Dot Matrix folder, inked around the edges with the same colors of Distress Ink as used on the leaf, and distressed the edges.  I attached the two layers together, wrapped a piece of twine around them, and attached the piece to a folded white card.

Here is another card.  Distress Inks through a stencil (TCW) for the ornaments and then I used a white paint marker to add the dots to the hangers making it really look like links.  Distress Ink and a water brush were used to splatter the background.  Thanks is stamped with jet black ink.  A Zig pen was used for the doodling around the edge.  The main panel is attached to a red panel and then to a folded white card.

Thank you so very much....

Hi Everyone it's Teresa here today to share a fun card that i did using the "Thanks" metal cutting die and the "Thanks Cuddlers" set of 7 that goes with it.  I wanted to make something different this time so i used Basic Grey Aurora papers, die cuts and pockets and then used the Thanks to create a die for the title of my card on the front.  It was fun and easy to do and that always makes it great!!

This was a fun cosmic inspired paper line so i added gold around the edges of the layers
and then embossed one of the layers of the Thanks die cut in gold too.  The black staggered
layer really made it pop and the gold makes it fun and shiny.  I love that!!

Here is a closeup of the Thanks die cut and the embossing.  Embossing things with ink and
gold or silver powder is a great way to achieve a gorgeous effect without having to find
the perfect paper, especially when it's late into the evening and stores are closed :)

Inside of my card i stamped 3 of the sentiments in black but you
could do whatever you needed since there are so many to chose from....

And ... that's all for today and so glad that you stopped over to see what
was new!!  Have a really fun and happy Halloween!!

EMBOSSED Thanks

Hello!  Did you notice that I shouted "embossed" there?  It's because this card I'm sharing today is embossed within an inch of its life!  :)

Ultra thick embossing powder has been around for a while but I just discovered it for myself and I love it!  I used it on my Thanks die and oh, my - it's this gorgeous shiny enamel - so easy too.  Then I used it on my leaves made with Distress Inks Spiced Marmalade, Scattered Straw, Fired Brick, and Evergreen Bough and Impression Obsession Little Leaves.  (Just be careful not to pick it up until it has cooled.  It's a bit like touching the hot glue from a glue gun.  Ask me how I know.)

Quietfire Design, Diana Nguyen, Thanks die, Thanks cuddlers, Ultra thick embossing powder, impression obsession, little leaves

I also heat embossed one of the Thanks cuddlers.  I was almost done until I realized I could dry emboss the background too with a swirl embossing folder from the Cuttlebug Wedding Suite set.  See why I emphasized the "embossed?" Everything was embossed!
