Wine Is Sunlight Gift Card

Hello and happy Monday! Kim here today with a simple but fun card share. As a wine drinker I love to give and receive wine. I also like to always include a handmade card or tag with the bottle of wine for a personal touch.

Quietfire Design / Wine is Sunlight / card designed by Kim Gowdy

My card was made using the Quietfire Design set, Wine is Sunlight. It is one of my first sets acquired in my Quietfire Design collection and still remains one of my favourites!

For this card I knew I wanted my Southern Ridge chipboard wine bottle a deep warm purple, almost black but not! I grabbed some acrylic paints and custom blended a purple, black and beige to get the look I wanted. I used my trusted colour wheel to guide me through choices that would play well with that purple undertone. When using a colour wheel let it guide you, but remember you do not have to aim for perfection. As you see, my green has a bit more blue than the colour wheel, but I’m OK with that!

I used the green and yellow inks to add colour to the bottom and left side of my card which left a nice spot for my sentiment to sit.

My sentiment and wine bottle were embossed with Modern Gilding Powder - Copper Scroll! I adore this colour and use it often! I LOVE how it turned out!

I had some old, dried out metallic gold paint that I brushed on over the grapes to give the look of a label. I was surprised that it just needed to have some water sprayed over it to bring it back to life. I try hard to add old product from my stash to most projects ~ this was a WIN!

Before I permanently adhered my wine bottle, I felt I needed a bit more on the card, so I pulled out my Colorbox Spritzers [another OLD product in my stash!] and added a splash of colour. I made a quick mask to cover my quote so the splatter would not detract from the sentiment. I edged with some Vintage Walnut Distress Ink and secured my wine bottle!

Now, it’s ready to gift with a yummy bottle of Merlot or Syrah 🥰

Live, Love, Laugh, Wine Is Sunlight - Easel card

It's starting to feel like fall here in Calgary... so I thought I'd make a fall card...

I'm using several A Way With Words dies "Live", "Love", "Laugh" from Elizabeth Craft Designs, also available on Quietfire Design HERE . HERE and HERE

And I'm using a quote stamp set from Quietfire Design  ("Wine Is Sunlight" 4pce set);

Scored and folded my purple toned cardstock to create the easel, and another piece the same size as card for the front. Cut a slightly smaller piece from a Pumpkin toned cardstock and adhered to front.

Created the grapes by punching out circles from the purple
cardstock, inking the edges of each with a Distress "Dusty Concord" mini pad, adhering them in place and then using a white Prisma colored pencil for the highlight mark.

Created an electronic cut file of the leaves, jug and various other elements from the sets (Heartfelt Creations "Jars and Vines"; "Italiana Grapevines"). Cut from white cardstock and inked with Distress pads, blending colors with a wet paint brush.

Stamped the quotes using Versafine "Imperial Purple" and clear embossed.
On the floor: Stamped the border of grapevines (Heartfelt Creations "Italiana Grape Borders") with the purple, clear embossed on the pumpkin cardstock. Trimmed down and adhered to floor with 3D foam tape to act as my stopper.

Die cut the words from a light peach Bazzill Monochromatic cardstock. Adhered the "Live" to the stopper and the other 2 words on the floor.

Added a sprig of the grapevines.

Wine is Sunlight

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with another scrapbook layout designed around a Quietfire Design stamp.  Today I am using the ‘Wine is Sunlight’ stamp from one of my favourite stamp sets.  It is a perfect accent for photographs I took while I was on a wine tour near Niagara Falls last fall.  This area of Canada is simply beautiful and there are many many wineries to visit.

The ‘Wine is Sunlight’ stamp is from a set of four stamps, all of which would be wonderful for embellishing scrapbook layouts about wine tours or getting together with friends. Or,these stamps make great tags for wine bottles given as a hostess gift or on invitations to wine and cheese parties.  Imagine the possibilities!

Supplies Used:  Quietfire Design stamp, Heartfelt Creations patterned paper and vine die, Sizzix alphabet die, Clearsnap Ink, May Arts ribbon.

Thanks Cuddlers/Friends, Wine is sunlight - Guest Designer Kim Goudy

Hello! Kim Gowdy here again with a second, Guest Designer post for Quietfire Designs. It’s always fun creating with new products, especially when it’s from a company you already LOVE!

A couple weeks back I designed a project using the “WINE IS SUNLIGHT” stamp set.
I created a tag that I wasn’t quite sure how I would use.

I decided to use it for my current project as a scrapbooking embellishment!

This project was so fun and simple to put together! I used Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine’s November Sketchy Challenge as a starting point for my project!

After choosing my supplies, I chose to use the Quietfire Design “Thanks Cuddlers” to stamp Colorbox Frost White pigment ink over the black background paper.

I used the Elizabeth Craft Design “Friends” die; designed by Suzanne Cannon of Quietfire Design to create my title. I cut it out three times and layered them to add a bit more dimension to the title.

I wanted to include both larger pictures on my layout, so I used some washi tape to join them, creating an extra spot for journaling and means to adding another picture without affecting the layout design.

I hope these projects have inspired you to create with Quietfire Design's amazing stamps and dies! Thanks Suzanne for inviting me to play on your blog this month!

Wine is Sunlight - Guest Designer Kim Gowdy

Welcome to the Quietfire Design Blog! I’m Kim Gowdy and was delighted to be asked to share some projects with you! I am part of the team at Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine and love this hobby we all share!
I have to tell you, I had so much fun making these projects! They were inspired by a business card that popped up on my Facebook feed!

I used the “Wine is Sunlight” set, I have adored this set of stamps from the moment I was introduced to them .
Wine is Sunlight
I began my process by creating my background using Clearsnap Chalk Inks and Canadian Scrapbooker’s Superstock.

  1. I clear embossed the grapes randomly over my white cardstock
  2. I randomly “stamped, stamped, stamped” the words “WINE IS BOTTLED POETRY” all over my background. Overlapping and NOT being mindful of placement. Use your stamp wet to dry. Think of this as placing a layer of colour on your background paper.
  3. Using a foam applicator I filled in all the remaining white spaces with two co-ordinating colours. The chalk inks dry to a beautiful soft finish.

Once the background was created I used my Cricut Explore and a free SVG found on the web to cut away the wine bottle shape. I layered it on a white card base [adhering ONLY the sides and top], stamped the sentiment and grapes; then coloured the grapes and top with Clearsnap Smooch.

I cut a piece of Core’dinations Cardstock to be placed between my layers. A little ribbon tag allows you to pull the cardstock out…making the bottle go from full to empty to reveal the quote!

I was going to throw away the wine bottle cut from the original background, but thought it to be wasteful; after all it was all inked up and ready to go…but looked so plain! I stamped and embossed the sentiment, added lots of May Arts twine and added a bit of Clearsnap smooch as a cap! I LOVED how it turned out. I think it would be an awesome tag to use with a gift of wine or maybe an embellishment for a scrapbook page! Hmmmm? What to do?

Autumn Miracles Woven Spine Card

Yogi here today with a woven spine detail that I love... and is available on my website in a jpg image and SCUT3 (Sure Cuts a Lot) file.

If you don't have an electronic cutter or can't use the files, try using the American Traditional "Wide Arrow" template, moving the template to get the length you need. The weave is narrower but just as pretty.

I eCut the woven spine, masked with post it notes, colored with Distress (Seedless Preserves & Dusty Concord) direct to paper, removed masks and placed them on the other side coloring with (Scattered Straw & Wild Honey), scored and folded (5"w x 7"h). see diagrams at bottom of post.

Cut a separate piece of white cardstock and embossed with Sheena Douglas "Ivy Frame" inking the negative side of the folder with the Straw and hitting here and there with the Honey, misting with water then embossing.  Trimmed and adhered to purple cardstock then on to my card front.

Adhered two pieces of narrow purple ribbon (one gauze and one narrow silk).

Stamped the word "miracles" cut from the "If You Don't Believe" stamp (or you could mask off the unwanted areas and use a stamp positioner), inked with Versafine Black Onyx, clear embossed.

Stamped the Wine quote with Distress "Dusty Concord and clear embossed.

Stamped the grape flourish with the purple, clear embossed, touched with a Quickie glue pen and sprinkled with Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter "Purple" & "Chartreuse"

eCut the word "Autumn" from white cardstock and while on the mat inked with Versafine "Toffee, removed from mat and embossed with Stampendous opaque "Honey" embossing powder.

eCut a shadow layer and colored with the purples, then adhered the yellow layer, then on to the card.

Inside:  Stamped the bottom part of the "If You Don't Believe" quote using the Concord and clear embossing, added the word "too" with a black fine tipped pen.

Inked the birthday with "Picked Raspberry" and hitting here and there with Preserves, misted lightly with water and stamped.

Cut apart the floral flourish and placed them on my acrylic block spread apart to the size I wanted, inked with the Raspberry and Preserves and stamped. Repeated for the bottom flourishes. Used a Sakura metallic pink gel pen to add faux stitching joining the flourishes.

Although the image shows the score lines,
DON'T SCORE TILL AFTER COLORING.

Gifts for Wine lovers

There are lots of new projects being shared with all the new release of stamps
coming out this month and i jumped at the chance to create with the
brand new Wine is sunlight stamps too.
To be quite honest i was only going to do the coasters but then i started
stamping and had so much fun i kept on going with them.

Living in Southern California we have lots of winery's scattered
everywhere and now that wine bars have become a social place to
be there are lots more of them starting up again.  So i decided to
make a few tags and the coasters so that i have some special ones
to give for gifts maybe for the holidays.

The coasters are actually really easy to do and i used Tsukinko Momento
Luxe ink on them for mixed media projects and it worked really great.
I used watercolor markers to color in the design on it but i think that sharpies
would be better when you finish them with a decoupage glaze to seal them.
Mine ran a little but i like it.  I also added a backing of pretty wine colored
paper and sealed that too.  These would be a great gift to tuck in along with
that bottle of wine you are sharing at the party.....

This tag was really fun to do.  I cut it out with a new Spellbinders die
and stamped the beautiful sentiment in the center.  Then i inked it with pink
and lavender inks to match and finished it with ribbons and pearls and
a few roses that i had in my stash.  The little bits of gold are done by
sprinkling on the powder on the top and heating from underneath.
it's a fun trick and you can really fancy up your projects by doing it.

Here is the stamp set just so you can see all of them together!
It's a good one so be sure and order yours to have fun with today :)

Happy Monday...Teresa

Wine is bottled poetry....

Hello everyone,
Yvonne here with a bottle label using the ever so gorgeous new Quietfire "Wine is Sunlight" stamps (#6463).
I do like a good glass of wine and when going to visit friends I like to gift a bottle.
Plain giftwrapping is a bit boring (everyone can predict what's inside the paper) so I like to add handmade labels to the bottles I gift.
These labels are really easy and fun to make.

Simply cut a rectangle piece of paper and die-cut a circle on one end (if the hole is too big, simply mat with a smaller die-cut circle on the back of the label)
Then fold the label.
For this label I also chose to emboss it: put the to be embossed part between the embossing folder and run through your machine.
Then start dresing up your label anyway you like.

For this label I stamped the "Wine is bottled Poetry" onto white cardstock and then die-cut/embossed/stencilled a circle.

Glue some ruffled, aged old paper behind the circle.
Cut a banner and ink the edges.
Die-cut/emboss/paint a grey ornament. Glue the banner to the back of  the grey ornament.
Use foam squares to stack all layers.

Used materials:
- Quietfire Wine is Sunlight (#6463) stamps
- Spellbinders Standard Circles Small (S4-116), M-Bossabilities Garden Lattice (EG-003), Majestic Circles (S4-409)
- Black Archival ink
- Distress inkpad Brushed Corderoy and an Ink blending tool
- white, cream and grey cardstock
- some old book pages, mulberry flowers and leaves, some lace, self-adhesive Pearls, satin bow
- glue, scissors and 3D foam squares.

I hope you like the idea and am looking forward (as always!) to your comments.

Have a nice day and 'till next time,
Yvonne
