ABC's of Needlework

Yes I know I scrapped in with the finish in November but between being busy and losing Baby it's taken me a while to get round to taking a full length pic of it.

This was my birthday present from Lucy this year and also my birthday start which meant it was also my Gifted Gorgeousness project for most of the year.

The threads are included with the chart and I used Dr Smiths Tonic from Sparklies

And some closer views

Novembers Gifted Gorgeousness

I'm quite literally scrapping in with a finish for GG this month!

I put the last stitches in this, whipped it off the frame, took a very quick piccie and jumped on the puter to write the post

Why does it qualify for GG?
The chart pack was my Birthday present this year off Lucy and it was also my Birthday start

I added my link with just 10 minutes to spare!  then came back to tell you that :)

July Gifted Gorgeousness

Gifted Gorgeousness was the brain child of Jo to get stitchers using those items in our stash that have been gifted to us, shoehorning is allowed :)

This month I have a few to share.
First is Miss New Year's Fairy.   I was gifted the chart, leftover CC and beads for her.
I will be passing the chart on to someone when I've decided how to go about it

Next is Teresa Wentzler's Beginners Whitework Ornament
It's a freebie so fits in plus I was gifted the fabric to stitch it on

Little House Needleworks Needlework ABC's.
Lucy gifted me this for my Birthday this year

Again it's a freebie on gifted fabric and with any luck I'll finish it this week if I can find time to stitch with Teejay here for the week

May Gifted Gorgeousness

Gifted Gorgeousness was the brilliant idea of Jo to encourage stitchers to use those items in our that have been gifted to us from the smallest charm to the biggest kit or projects that will once finished be gifted to someone.

First for me this month is my progress on the Linen & Threads Mystery SAL the chart is a freebie and so it's a gift :)
I'm using 40 count sand linen, B2500 and whatever colour I feel like at the time for mine

Next is April Monthly Challenge over on Needlecraft Haven.
Once again it's a freebie this time from Alita.   I used some of my lovely Calypso NN thread and a scrap of silver lurex Linda (very sad they stopped making this) for mine.
The stitching was done mid April but I only got round to making it up this week!  I used one of those mini easels that comes with a tiny canvas for it and I think it turned out quite well.

And lastly this years Birthday start.
My Daughter gifted me the chart/ thread pack for Needlework ABC's from Little House Needleworks for my Birthday.
I'm using the Crescent Colours that come in the pack and Dr Smith's Tonic from Sparklies

New LHN start

Once I'd finished Croakworth on my stitching holiday I made a start on Little House Needleworks  Needleworker 'kit'.
I didn't quite make it to halfway before the end of the week but I wasn't far off.

This one is on Dr Smith's Tonic from Sparklies which I have to say is just about my favourite fabric ever :)

Snow, a finish and progress

This is teh scene that greeted me out of my bedroom window this morning

And this is out across the back of the house

It's all gone now but it was nice while it lasted which it never does here unless the rest of the UK has a ground to a halt.

Last night I finished Home is where the Sunflowers grow and it's my third finish for the year not bad considering we are still in January

And another bit ready to add to my quilt, I have a few more almost ready to add

Gifted Gorgeousness

It's the 15th of the month (just about) so it's time for the first gifted gorgeousness post being hosted by Jo.
The idea is that we all have things in our stash that have been gifted to us in some way or other and it's a shame to leave them there feeling unloved or it could be something you're stitching as a gift for someone else.
I have two projects that count this month and both were Christmas gifts last year.

First is Home is where the sunflowers grow that I received in the advent exchange over on  Needlecraft Haven from Ursh who as far as I know doesn't have a blog.  Ursh sent me the chart, fabric (which isn't as light as it looks in the pic) and the called for GAST, WDW and CC.
I started it on Monday and this is my progress as of this evening, fingers crossed tomorrow it will be a finish

The other one is the post box off my fella

Happy Dance & progress

Friday evening I put the last stitches into Hill House, woohoo.
This was my 2/3 of a start from April's SFS report and in keeping with SFS I made changes to the threads for those I had the called for ones are either Weeks or Gentle Art and I sub Cresent Colours for all of them
Scuppernong for Eve's Leaves
Chives for Bean Sprout
Caterpillar for Hickory Stitcks
Hazlenut for Ye Old Gold
English Ivy for Spinach

And my weekends progress on Art Deco Sunrise

Mum came home from hospital today, thank you everyone that wished her well

A start & a finish

Last week I started Hill House from LHN it's turned into a travelling pattern over on Needlecraft Haven and here's how far I got.
In keeping with Stitch from Stash I subbed colours I had for those called for that I didn't and I'm liking them so far and it's might I've finished off 2 part skeins, woo hoo.

And I finished my weekend project :)
This was last year's birthday start

My new week focus project has been picked and worked on this week and I've a pretty good idea what's next for the weekends to

An old finish finished

Way back in 2009 I finished LHN's Traveling Stitcher but wasn't able or fortunate enough to get the pouch to attach it to so I asked a friend if she could make me one.
While at Dove Farm a few weeks ago she gave it me back and I'm in love with it.
Ally you did a fantastic job, Thank you so much

I have 2 pockets in it, please excuse my bad attempt at showing them!
I've not decided what project I'll use it for if indeed I'll use it at all

Lastly here's my start on the Buttons and Beads kit I picked up on Saturday

A finish and an update or two

I finished LHN Schoolgirl Lessons a couple of days ago.
It's on a very pale lilac evenweave but I have no clue what and I used NN 153

Update #1 is my progress on Mary from the weekend.

Update #2 is the continuing saga of my Birthday Givaway.
It's been 2 weeks since I did the draw and I've not heard from Lynda so I've had DBF pull another name out and this time it's Ann from Beadlework.  Congratulations Ann

Some finishing (mostly)

First of all last weekend's progress on MW.

Yesterday I finally got around to unpacking the little sewing machine DBF gave me for Christmas and use it.  I've had the fabrics picked out for weeks but every time I've thought I'll do those tomorrow something happened or I just plain forgot I was going to do them and it was to late in the day when I remembered!

I'm posting them in the order they were stitched not the order I finished them and as ever the fabric behind is the one I used for the finishing.

First up is Christmas Peace from JCS ornie issue 2002 (didn't note the designer and I'm far to lazy to go and dig the issue out to look it up) stitched way back in January!
I used a scrap of fabric out of the box that I suspect is Cashel and the called Weeks & GAST apart from subbing Cyress for Cadet.

Next is Heartfelt Harvey from 2008 JCS ornie issue, designed by Imaginating INC.
He's on a scrap of 32 count and I used DMC 304.
He turned out larger than I thought he would so I made him into a little pillow so could get away with a large pattern fabric.  See the sleigh, santa and snowman on the left? Well that's what's on the back.

Next is Happy Day freebie from sub rosa and was the April challenge on Needlecraft Haven

Lastly is the fob from LHN Needle and Thread.
Again I thought it was a little to big for a fob so I made it into a little ornie that I can hang on my stand with other bits and pieces of craft.

When I done and ready to put the machine away I found this

I really should of known that an empty box would soon be filled with a Rosie!

Needle & Thread finish

Last week I gave in to the quiet pleading of Needle & Thread from Little House Needlework and stitched it over a few days.
I have no idea what the fabric is and I used the called for Crescent Colours.
There's nothing listed for the eyes and beak of the owl so I used Hickory Sticks for the eyes and Tufted Yellow for the beak, 2 strands of each and I wrapped twice in case your interested :)

When I bought my chart I was lucky enough to get the bed as well (very surprising for my little corner of the world) so this morning I sat down and put it together.

Now I just need to do the scissor fob which I'll hopefully manage in Feb.

Sunday's progress

Finishing it and making it up into a cushion counts as progress doesn't it??
Well it does in my book :)

I did a few speciality stitches on it, nothing really exciting mostly satin stitch, symrna crosses, eyelets and long armed xs.
I also switched one of the colours in the bowl at the top for delica's and used PB 01 instead of the called for DMC metallic
